Four Split Personalities

Chapter 2779 - 1316: Motivation

It wasn’t just Teresa. At the same moment, regardless of whether it was the regular spectators on the stage watching the excitement, the combatants who were dazed by the series of extreme maneuvers just now, or the commentators La Ersi and Lei Er Si, even including Richard and Andre on the judges’ panel, all shivered as if hit by a 100,000-volt electric shock from some electric mouse.

Without needing the twin commentators to mark it on the map, even the most amateur spectator couldn’t help but instinctively focus their gaze on the overview map highlighting the two positions that had already been pierced through.

A second ago, despite having a God’s Eye View, except for a handful of people, the majority of the spectators failed to notice those two Blue forces that had silently completed their assembly.

A second later, despite the entire central area being engulfed in war, with over a dozen ongoing intense battles, everyone’s attention was unanimously drawn to those two positions, which were seemingly inconspicuous.

Of course, the so-called inconspicuousness is only for the uninitiated outsiders. To the insiders, those two positions codenamed "Nuts" and "Ribbon" by Teresa are of immense strategic value, but precisely because of this, their defense measures are the most stringent.

At first glance, they might seem commonplace, but the outskirts of both positions have numerous highly mobile units that can mutually support and cover each other. They seem to be executing different tactical instructions, but both their movement routes and troop allocations are capable of providing assistance in the shortest time and even trap invaders in front of the position, surrounded.

Yet, it was these two positions with such configurations that were pierced through directly by two Blue forces appearing ghost-like nearby, and before they could even retaliate, they were infiltrated into the interior, collapsing from within as if they were as fragile and smooth as butter.

One must know that the soldiers in the sand table are not puppets on strings. Although they would unconditionally execute the Commander’s orders at the first moment, they are not proverbial sitting ducks when without orders. When attacked, they would employ every means to retaliate, and can even organize quite a number of simple Battle Arrays, deploying strategic weapons like magic cannons when necessary. They may not be that flexible, but they are surely not considered weak.

Yet, under such circumstances, they were breached without the slightest means of retaliation. And when those forces purposely stationed by Teresa nearby returned to defend, they astonishingly found themselves being kited. Those two Blue forces seemingly had no intention of using the positions for blocking, and after casually destroying a small number of supplies, they directly rushed out from the other side.

Thus, an extremely foolish question was thrown to the Red Commander... which was Teresa, wearing the ’Foster’ mask.

Either give no instructions, letting the nearby forces by default continue the pursuit, which would inevitably lead to two results—

First, the obviously high-quality Blue forces would definitely kite the former with high mobility. This action did not even require Motan to personally order. As long as the two Blue forces didn’t stand by or turn back, completing the kiting objective naturally.

Second, if the forces surrounding the two positions were allowed to give chase, the Blue troops outside, originally stalled, would inevitably take over the positions, capturing these relatively important strategic points "Nuts" and "Ribbon," making it not simple to retrieve them.

The other option is to order the units surrounding the positions to cease their automatic pursuit, to take over the positions which, though pierced through by the Blue forces, are still complete except for some lost resources.

Perhaps calling it "taking over again" isn’t very accurate, after all, it seemed like the Blue forces never intended to occupy in the first place, so it’s merely stationing a new batch of troops into it.

But such things...

"It’s utterly ridiculous!"

La Ersi angrily pounded the table twice, gritting her teeth at the overview map before her, "What on earth is that Black Vatican doing? Such a golden opportunity, it’s wasted just like this! Why not directly seize the positions? Even though they were thoroughly pierced through, why spit out the meat when it’s already in your mouth?"

Frightened by her sister’s fury, Lei Er Si cautiously asked, "Could it be because those two Blue forces are quite strong and it’s wasteful to use them for stationing, so the Black Vatican Priest..."

"Idiot Lei Er Si!"

La Ersi snapped, shaking her head. "There’s no need to worry about such matters! Do the forces breaking through the Red positions necessarily have to be occupation forces? Are the forces used for containment just for show? Just look closely at the distribution of both sides’ combat strength. Whether it’s the position above or the one below, if the Blue forces stayed just for about five minutes after the assault, they could annihilate the incoming Red forces with the help of allies. Then it just needs a simple change of defense, and those two positions would directly swap owners!"

Lei Er Si shrunk her neck, evidently startled by her sister’s unexpected fury. One must know that La Ersi usually favors the ’Foster’ from Academy City, so her reaction due to the Blue’s inability to seize the opportunity caught her off guard.
