Chapter 568: Frantic Onslaught

The two partial manifestations overlapped, their energies grinding against each other for a brief, unstable moment before finding a rough equilibrium.

He was maintaining a full, dual-spirit materialization... a feat that should have been impossible for any layer 3 practitioner, as they can only have one spirit before Layer 4.

But well, Sol was an anomaly and with his almost infinite Essence Ocean in his Sun Core, continuously feeding them, Sol forced the two opposing forces into a lethal, perfectly balanced equilibrium!

And even though, the combination was imperfect. The wings still flickered at the edges, and the armor remained incomplete. Maintaining both at the same time drained his concentration heavily. Yet the result was greater than either alone.

"Time to stop playing around," Sol rasped, his voice echoing with a double-layered, unnatural resonance.

BOOM!

WHOOSH!

Sol vanished, leaving behind golden displacement lines in the air.

There was no sound of steps or the image of his body. There was only a violent sonic crack as he breached the physical acceleration limit, that blew off a white dust cloud in an instant.

Bruga’s Layer 4 instincts flared violently. "BEHIND ME?!"

The titan spun his massive upper body, throwing a sweeping backhand fist reinforced with compressed slate-grey wind.

BANG!

Sol didn’t dodge!

He raised his left forearm, invoking the absolute, stubborn density of the Great Badger. The Golden Badger armor expanded into a shimmering, spiked shield of pure kinetic resistance. Bruga’s colossal fist slammed directly into the shield.

The bedrock beneath Sol’s boots instantly pulverized for twenty yards, a starburst crater sinking two feet deep into the ground.

But Sol did not fly back! For the first time he absorbed the titan’s Layer 4 kinetic shockwave, anchored his body directly into the shattered ground, and instantly toggled his movement state to the Dreadwing!

WHOOSH!

His body turned weightless. The Badger armor vanished in a flash of grey light, replaced by Golden Wings of friction-defying speed.

Using the exact rebound momentum of Bruga’s own punch, Sol launched himself straight up the giant’s outstretched arm like an inverted crimson meteor!

"WHAT?!" Bruga gasped, his bloodshot eye widening in shock.

"MY TURN!" Sol roared.

Sol reached the giant’s shoulder in a fraction of a millisecond. Zeyra’s twin daggers flashed in a hyper-speed flurry of precision strikes... not aimed at random muscle, but targeting the exact nerve clusters and blood vessels along Bruga’s neck and collarbone!

SLASH-SLASH-SLASH-SLASH-SLASH!

In the span of a single heartbeat, Sol delivered twenty-four lightning-fast cuts!

Blood sprayed into the air like a crimson fountain.

The rapid-fire velocity of the strikes was so intense that Bruga’s Layer 4 passive regeneration couldn’t even keep up with the sheer volume of tissue destruction.

The giant stumbled backward, his left arm going completely numb as Sol severed the brachial plexus nerve cluster!

"GET OFF ME, YOU ACCURSED DEMON!!" Bruga screamed in pure rage.

Ignoring his dead left arm, the giant raised his massive seven-foot bone club with his right hand, sweeping it straight up along his own torso like an iron broom to swat Sol off his shoulder.

Sol didn’t flinch. His enhanced dynamic vision tracked the rising wall of bone and compressed air in slow motion.

Right as the colossal club reached his position, Sol deactivated his weight, kicked off Bruga’s earlobe with his left boot, and somersaulted backward into the air, letting the giant smash his own shoulder with his heavy bone club!

CRUNCH!

"AGHH!" Bruga grunted, his own heavy club slamming into his severed nerve cluster, deepening his own injury and sending him staggering three heavy steps backward.

Sol landed smoothly on his feet twenty yards away, sliding low across the white slate floor.

For the next twenty seconds, the dynamic of the fight completely inverted. Sol took the absolute lead in attacks.

He was in complete control of the battle’s rhythm now, alternating seamlessly between the unstoppable defense of the Great Badger and the uncatchable velocity of the Dreadwing.

For thirty frantic, adrenaline-fueled seconds, Sol turned the twenty-foot titan into his personal punching bag, or you could say a cutting bag, weaving through Bruga’s furious, desperate attacks like a phantom.

He moved like a rabid, dual-element phantom... swapping seamlessly to the Badger to tank Bruga’s secondary shockwaves, then instantly swapping to the Dreadwing to slash across the giant’s back, ribs, and face before the titan could even register his position.

Thick blood, and violent bursts of slate-grey essence exploded across Bruga’s massive body.

The giant roared in mounting frustration, flailing his giant arms like a man trying to swat an invisible, razor-sharp wasp.

SLASH! A deep cut opened across Bruga’s left cheek. SLASH! A double-cut severed the tendon on his left shoulder. SLASH! A spinning heel-kick wrapped in Badger energy slammed straight into Bruga’s wounded knee, forcing the twenty-foot giant to stumble down onto one leg!

"GRAAAAGH! GET OFF ME!" Bruga shrieked, his giant hands clapping together in a massive, shockwave-generating mid-air strike aimed at squishing Sol between his palms.

BOOM!

The atmospheric pressure wave from the hand-clap exploded outward, but Sol had already toggled back to the Dreadwing’s lightness, banking hard in mid-air and hovering thirty feet above the giant’s head, completely unscathed.

Yet, as Sol delivered a spinning heel-kick reinforced with Badger-weight straight into Bruga’s chin... knocking the giant’s head back with a loud crack... Sol’s neon-crimson eyes narrowed.

Tch... It’s still not enough, Sol realized bitterly as he landed.

Bruga was bleeding, roaring, and his left arm was hanging limp, but the giant’s massive frame held an absurd amount of sheer vitality.

The bone daggers, while mastercrafted, agile, and deadly against normal enemies, but against a twenty-foot Layer 4 titan whose dense muscle tissue was thicker than most beasts, the damage was little more than deep papercuts.

The moment Sol stepped back for even three seconds, Bruga’s boiling Layer 4 physical essence surged to the wound, cauterizing the flesh and sealing the muscle fibers almost instantly.

Small blades can hurt a giant, but they cannot kill him.

I need something stronger and much sharper.
