From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals
Chapter 840 - 840: The Temporary Desk Needs A ParentThe temporary desk sat on the page like a chair someone had carried in after the meeting started.
Ty understood chairs better than titles by then. A chair meant a place for a person to sit, even when the person kept their face out of the record.
The desk had been created eight minutes after the band left the wrist. The cross-route stamp came after that, and then the band reached the door.
Omina circled temporary again until the paper dented.
"A temporary desk still needs a parent office before it inherits authority."
Zunoder's expression settled into something almost approving.
"If the parent office is lawful, the emergency use remains available."
JJ leaned back from her torn page.
"Available keeps showing up with blood under its nails."
Heissman looked from the desk line to Omina's notes.
"Temporary desks inherit permissions from the office that creates them. They cannot create themselves."
The page took the last sentence faster than Ty expected.
That made it worse.
Fast agreement meant the file had already made room for that excuse.
Yun-Jin still held Ty's sleeve. Her grip had moved lower, closer to the wrist, but she kept cloth between her hand and his skin.
"The title pressure changed when the desk line opened."
Omina wrote that down.
"Tell me where the pressure moved inside him."
Yun-Jin watched Ty's feet rather than his face.
"Less pull toward the door. More pressure at the missing edge."
Ty flexed his hand. The missing finger answered with a pinch, not a pull. The difference was ugly and useful.
"It feels like the file wants the wound to agree with the desk."
Omina wrote wound agreement pressure.
Zunoder took one breath through his nose.
"A body responding to evidence can support relevance."
JJ's pencil lifted.
"A wound hurting when you poke paperwork near it supports cruelty first."
Omina wrote cruelty first in the margin without asking permission.
The margin gave it low weight.
JJ smiled at the page like she had expected worse.
"Low weight still means it had to swallow."
Jade's feed stayed on the floor. The scuffed shoe had vanished. Someone had moved the chair, leaving only tile and a strip of table shadow.
Caelin's aide looked more awake than healthy.
"If we request parent office facts, public office can carry the log cost."
Jade answered from the low camera.
"Your office carries cost. My room carries children."
Caelin nodded before his aide could flinch.
"Then public office carries log cost and child-exposure complaints."
Omina watched the record lean toward public office cost, then cut the shape smaller before it could grow teeth.
"Parent office class only. No signer. No child name. No title conclusion. No shelter custody."
Signer and child name locked down.
Shelter custody made the margin hesitate.
Jade said, "My room is not a filing cabinet for your missing bands."
Waddell added from off camera, "It also has better locks than your cabinets."
No shelter custody settled after that, which meant the record understood insult when cost wore boots.
Omina asked for the parent office class.
A blank line opened.
Then another.
Ty felt the old edge of his missing finger tighten.
Not pain exactly. A pressure like someone pressing a thumb against a bruise and waiting for him to identify the hand.
He kept his hand open.
Heissman looked sick again.
"If the office class is blank, the desk should fail inheritance."
Zunoder answered before the drawer could.
"Unless the class is sealed by emergency authority."
Omina turned the pen in her fingers.
"Then we ask whether it is blank, sealed, or absent."
Absent pulled the hardest.
That was the answer before the answer.
Ty saw JJ catch it. Heissman caught it too and looked down as if the paper had stepped on his foot.
Omina wrote the three choices in one column. Blank returned false. Sealed came back incomplete. Absent held the pen longer before it settled into contested.
JJ exhaled through her teeth.
"Contested is where the office parks the body until people stop checking."
Omina wrote parent office absence contested without repeating the line.
Contested left a hole with a polite label over it. Ty had seen enough of those tonight to know the label mattered less than the room it protected.
Zunoder kept his voice even.
"A contested parent office can still inherit emergency authority through pooled relief."
Heissman shook his head once.
"Pooled relief still has a pool behind it."
Ty looked at him.
Heissman's voice steadied because everyone needed it to.
"Even temporary desks draw from a parent ledger. Staff pool, relief pool, emergency pool, lost property pool. Something owns the permission before the desk borrows it."
The paper shifted at the last example.
Lost property pool.
Omina's pen stopped.
The room seemed to know better than to make noise.
Ty's missing finger went cold at the edge.
Jade's feed stayed low, but the tablet shifted enough to show Waddell's shoe beside the chair leg. Nobody on that side asked whether the pool could touch the shelter. That restraint felt learned, not natural.
Zunoder spoke first because he always trusted silence to serve him if no one else interrupted it.
"Lost Property maintains emergency custody lanes during declared overflow."
Omina looked at him.
"Emergency custody lanes are not parent offices for pediatric bands."
"They can be during overflow if the bridge proves it."
"Then the record can prove the overflow bridge."
The drawer opened the bridge request and charged it to review delay.
Omina accepted.
Caelin's aide started typing and then stopped.
JJ noticed.
"You just learned why your office should have been rude earlier."
Caelin said, "My office is catching up to the size of the hole."
Waddell answered, "Do it faster and with fewer headlines this time."
The bridge record opened.
Pediatric overflow exported unresolved escort items to Lost Property emergency pool.
Heissman swallowed hard.
"Unresolved escort items should mean carts, bags, duplicate forms, broken tags. It should never mean an active child band."
Mara's hands closed over each other.
"Old hospital process treated bands like proof that the child had already been counted."
Rose watched her carefully.
"Do not give it the rest unless the record asks."
Mara nodded and stopped.
Ty kept his eyes on the line. Unresolved escort items. It was a phrase soft enough to carry anything, which was why it could carry a child-sized object all the way to a sealed door.
Omina asked for item class.
The answer came with more speed than mercy. The item was classified as an escort identifier, neither child nor band.
JJ's pencil cracked.
She looked at the broken point, then kept holding it.
"That word turns a person into a handle."
A low-weight mark appeared beside the sentence.
Ty felt the cold at his missing finger move into his palm.
The title pressure remained. It had found a new angle.
If a band could become an identifier, then a bone could become one too.
Omina saw the change in his hand.
"No identity transfer from band to bone. No title transfer from identifier to body."
Both limits came back with resistance.
Yun-Jin stepped closer without crossing the boot mark.
"His hand is reacting again near the missing edge."
Omina pressed harder.
"Body reaction enters as harm, not agreement from him."
Harm entered with low weight.
Ty held onto the word anyway.
Harm was at least honest enough to hurt.
Omina returned to the parent office.
"Did the temporary emergency desk inherit authority from Lost Property emergency pool?"
Partial inheritance printed under Omina's question.
Zunoder straightened.
Omina raised one hand before he could turn the room.
"Scope before argument, or the room will cheat."
The drawer opened scope as item movement only. Child transfer, body transfer, and title transfer stayed outside it.
Ty read each line slowly.
His thumb searched for the missing finger. The body remembered a count the record kept trying to turn into inventory.
For once, the list gave something back.
His hand still hurt, but the pain had less room to pretend it was permission.
Then the drawer added one more line beneath it.
Door access borrowed outside scope.
Omina's face stayed flat. The sentence helped, but it also pointed past every person still sealed. A borrowed thing had borrowed again. A temporary desk had become a hand no one wanted to name.
Ty felt the cold settle across his palm and kept it open anyway.
The room finally had a sentence that pointed like a finger.
