Christina focused more on the finer details.
Minor alterations? I guess I can work with that…
In her new body she’d have white hair, not her first choice, but not a terrible one. Given the current situation, it was long, unkempt, almost scraggly in a way.
Her new eye color drew her attention the most. It was beautiful, an emerald green that shimmered when the light caught it just right.
Christina wanted to make sure her new body appealed to her, but it wasn’t possible given current circumstances. Only after she recovered would she truly know. After giving a few turns to see if there were any markings, she noticed something unique.
“Are her, I mean, my ears pointed?”
Qhemeria looked closely, then nodded. “Not as long as an elf. If I were to guess, I’d say half-elf more than likely.”
Christina’s eyes widened. “Wait, if I’m going to be half-elf, doesn’t that mean I’ll have a longer life than most humans?”
Qhemeria tapped her chin, humming. “You’re right. I honestly hadn’t considered that. Make the most of the extra time—it’ll make up for such a short first life, right?”
Christina didn’t see a reason to disagree. Everything looked fine to her, aside from her new hair color, but she shrugged it off.
Christina had more control over what her new body would look like than she first thought. Not because Qhemeria was here to change it, but because she could work out, change eating habits, train, anything really.
Just as Christina was about to say she was alright with what she saw she stopped. A new life, new body, did that mean she could ask for something not possible on Earth?
C—could I be a futa? Is it even possible to give me something like that? I’ve always wanted one… would she?
No… I couldn’t ask a goddess to do that for me…
“I could if you wanted me to.” Qhemeria smirked. “It’s not a minor change though. Explaining its existence won’t be easy if it’s found.”
When Christina didn’t reply she continued. “If it’s something you truly want then I have the power to do so.”
Christina’s eyes went wide as a deep blush crept across her face. Immediately she hid her face before shaking her head.
Why do I always forget she can read my mind?!
It wasn’t that she didn’t want it—god, she did. But having a goddess see through her like that, about something so lewd, felt so embarrassing for her.
“I feel so wrong asking a Goddess to give me something like that…”
Qhemeria giggled before waving her hand. “Please, it’s nothing that serious. You’re doing me a massive favor, the least I could do is make sure you like your new body.”
Christina let out a slow breath as she struggled to meet Qhemeria’s gaze. Her face was burning up as she struggled to do so.
I’m really doing this… I am asking a Goddess to turn me into a futa…
She balled fists, locked eyes with Qhemeria, and finally found her voice.
“Will you make me a futa for my new life? I—I think I can just blame it on the illness. Just… don’t make me tiny, that’s all I ask.”
Qhemeria grinned before winking. “Don’t worry, I’ll give you the tools to really drive women wild, or men, whichever you fancy.”
The innuendo made Christina blush more. This was really going to happen. It wasn’t just a new life on a new world—she was also going to be a futa, something she’d desired most of her adult life.
What had started out as such a shitty way to wake up had slowly, but surely, turned into a glowing opportunity. The tears were starting to well up again, threatening to fall down her cheeks.
“Thank you. I… this means a lot. Another chance at a full life is more than anyone can ask. You’re even willing to do more than just that… it means a lot to me.”
Without a word Qhemeria approached before embracing Christina. With a motherly reaction she began rubbing her back as she spoke.
“I know this has been hard, but I hope you can make a new life for yourself.”
Christina held onto the hug for a moment before finally pulling away, wiping her tears. At the same time the mirror began descending into the floor, disappearing once more.
Qhemeria took hold of her hand, guiding her toward a new set of chairs that had appeared. Once they both sat down she began explaining the next part of the reincarnation:
“There is one more detail I need to let you know about before sending you on your way. This world is run on what you could call a… system.”
“Your world was dominated by biology, it determined everything. This one is more dependent on a code of sorts. Magic, experience, levels—everything feeds into the coding of this system. It governs your growth, strength, even your potential. I’m confident you’ll adapt quickly.”
Christina took in what was just said.
A system? Something that governs everything about someone’s growth in this world? Does that mean I could do more than just be some random person?
The entire thing sounded like an RPG to her, sharing similar characteristics to games she had played in the past.
“Do I need a crash course on it? Or is it easy enough to figure out on my own?”
“It’s very easy to learn,” Qhemeria said. “Anything beyond the basics, you can ask those around you. Family, future friends, anyone you feel comfortable talking to.”
It wasn’t ideal, going in blind with such a system existing.
However, Qhemeria hadn’t given her any reason to distrust the information. A little clarification would go a long way though.
Before she could ask though, a bright gold rune appeared behind her chair on the floor. The brightness was enough to make her close her eyes. When she was able to finally open them again, Qhemeria was standing in front of her.
“I wish I could give you more, but we need to get the swap done soon. I can’t risk losing her.”
With a gentle smile, she leaned down, placing a kiss on top of Christina’s head. “I consider you one of my children now, so don’t be afraid to speak to me. I won’t be able to reply, but I’ll be watching.”
“Good luck sweetheart.”
She suddenly grabbed the front of the chair’s seat, tipping it backwards with Christina still in it.
With a flail, Christina was expecting the pain associated with hitting hard flooring, but it never came. Instead she was surrounded by plush fabrics, in a room, somewhere unfamiliar.
Her body felt horrible, exhausted, weak, utterly drained of any energy.
Then her eyes caught sight of something eerily familiar. A dark flowing dress, worn by a woman begging her to wake up between sobs.
The sudden transition into her new body was jarring, least of all because of the condition she found herself in. However, what got under her skin the most was the scene before her.
She found herself in a one to one copy of the nightmare that plagued her the entire week.
What the fuck is going on? Was that all a dream? Am I back in that damn nightmare?
She slowly began sitting up, barely able to do so with her strength.
It can’t be. I can move this time. The details are way more vivid this time too.
“V-Valnarei?”
Her sudden voice was alien to her, coming from someone she knew nothing about.
She turned, her gaze falling on an elvish woman with similar white hair. The obvious pointed ears peeking from her hair gave that away.
This must be the mother? Or maybe sister?
Before she could say anything, the woman lunged at her squeezing her tightly.
Within seconds her shoulder was being soaked as the woman sobbed into it. Her entire frame shuddered as she broke down. The pain in her sobs was so guttural that she struggled to speak.
“I—I thought my b—baby girl would n—never wake up!”
The pet name was the confirmation on who this was. But it wasn’t what lingered on Christina’s mind. The situation caused her to imagine her parents, or what she could of them. They’d never get this kind of miracle, or any kind of closure really.
I miss them… so much already…
Without realizing it, tears had begun to fall down her face.
Talking about it with Qhemeria before had just been that, talk. Now, the full gravity of everything could be felt. It wasn’t a conversation anymore, it was real, it was happening right now.
She slowly wrapped her arms around the woman. It was an attempt to comfort her, but right now… Christina needed it just as badly.
Christina struggled to gather her composure. She realized the woman had called her something. Val- something.
Valarie? No… there was a N somewhere in the name. Valnarei. I think it was that.
I guess that’s my new name.
It sounded nothing like what she had expected.
It would take a while getting used to being called such a foreign name. However, it dawned on her that she didn’t remember her original name anymore.
Did it start with a.. What was it? A K? No that doesn’t… ah fuck it. I can’t be using my original name anyways.
Last thing I need is to accidentally give the wrong name.
Her inner thoughts were broken by the sobbing of her new mother, trying to speak into her shoulder.
“You’ve been comatose for so long!” She struggled to say between sobs. “We couldn’t find anyone w—who knew what was wrong…”
The poor thing was shaking just from how hard she was crying.
She likely felt the culmination of prayers being answered finally. The stress, worry, despair, all of it was crashing through her now. Christina was happy just to be able to soothe it however best she could.
Minutes dragged on as the woman refused to let go, likely afraid if she did something else would happen.
“I—I don’t want to worry you… but I don’t really remember anything about myself… or you…”
The shaking from the woman tapered off before she finally pulled away. A new, deeper, worried expression had surfaced. Deep in her eyes was a fear that begged this to be a misunderstanding.
She studied Valnarei’s expression, looking anywhere for a hint of this being a joke. When none were found she swallowed deeply before speaking, the shaking of her voice betraying the calm tone she tried presenting.
“I—it could be a side effect f—from your illness. The m—mages and doctors who took time to study it weren’t familiar with the cause. Many were offering to pay us to stay here, hovering over you while it ate away.”
“Most of them saw you as a way to make their names known for solving it. They saw you as a payday… not my little girl needing help.” She paused, taking a breath. “Hopefully any memories you’ve lost will come back. Don’t worry.”
With a forced smile she gripped Valnarei’s hand tightly. “We will help you as much as you need it.”
After her new mother’s promise to take care of her things picked up from there. What could only be described as a flurry of love, came crashing down on her.
With such a momentous moment as her waking up, she soon met her father, little sister, and older brother. Between her father and brother, they kept a more controlled reaction, happy, relieved, to see her alive, finally awake.
Her sister mimicked her mother’s sobbing reaction. The poor girl practically dove into the bed, desperate to hug her sister, sobbing and shaking like a leaf.
The entire thing was hard on Valnarei, it only served to remind her of the family she left behind.
As such it was hard to fight back the tears as well.
What ended up being an emotionally taxing experience of meeting her new family, thankfully didn’t last too long.
Her mother, despite still being a bit of a wreck, had shooed everyone out of the room.
Valnarei had been bedridden for so long, so a proper bath was needed, while fresh bedding would be swapped out by a family maid. Thankfully, Valnarei recognized a foreign feeling between her legs fast enough to request taking the bath solo. She felt bad doing so, but based her reasoning on the fact she wasn’t fully comfortable with it.
In her eyes, everyone in the family was a stranger right now. Valnarei would rather struggle getting in and out of the bath than have her new mother see such a drastic change added to her body.
Her mother still insisted on preparing the bath, since it required activating two magical runes. Using any magical implement was forbidden by her mother, not until she got back to full strength.
Even then, she would get a full exam by a doctor to get the final clean bill of health.
Once her mother had finished preparing the bath she tried once more to insist on being present. Valnarei of course didn’t want her to be—for more than obvious reasons.
Thankfully, her mother didn’t persist too heavily but refused to leave from the other side of the door. That didn’t bother Valnarei much, since it meant she would have the privacy needed.
Once alone, she let out a long exhale, trying to… just regain her composure.
Nothing Qhemeria could have told her would have prepared her for the past 15 minutes. It was a whirlwind of emotions, everyone was so happy to see her alive.
As hard as she fought it, her mind kept replaying how her parents could be reacting right now to finding her, or being told how she was found.
With a shake of her head she stripped off the nightgown loosely hanging from her thin body.
At first her eyes locked onto it, confusion setting in before she realized it was real.
Qhemeria kept her promise, that was for sure, but right now she lacked the energy to try anything. It was obviously soft, but still looked like it was decently large.
I guess she really took my request to not be tiny to heart. Even soft, I look pretty big.
She didn’t need to focus on that ‘minor’ thing right now—a warm bath was more important.
With more struggling than she expected, she finally made it into the water. The grunting combined with splashing caused a very worried mother to knock on the door.
“Sweetheart, are you okay? You didn’t hurt yourself, right?”
Valnarei sighed in exasperation before composing herself. “I’m alright, just weaker than I expected.”
Despite being a bit raspy, her new voice was smooth—that perfect middle register, not too high, and not too low. It would take some time to get used to it, but she definitely liked it.
Now that she felt settled in the soothing warmth of the bath water she looked down. Staring back at her was the reflection she’d seen in the mirror before. Slightly gaunt looking, long unkempt white hair, with emerald-colored irises.
The only difference was how puffy and red her eyes currently were, likely from all the crying.
The water was clear so she saw the rest of her body, it mimicked the image from the mirror one to one.
It just now started dawning on her just how much rehab she was going to need.
What did I agree to?
I mean… a second chance at life is great…
but it’s going to be a struggle to enjoy it for a while.
Valnarei hadn’t been very active in her previous life. However, she wasn’t going to waste a second chance.
This time, she was going to live how she wanted, doing what she wanted, not stuck in a senseless, boring rhythm every day.
