Chloe Sinclair nodded and went downstairs, where she sat on the sofa to watch TV.

Jasper Shaw must have really been busy, as he didn’t come downstairs until half an hour later.

He froze for a moment when he saw Chloe Sinclair watching TV by herself downstairs, then quickly hurried down to join her.

"Why are you here by yourself?"

"Grandfather was a little tired," Chloe Sinclair explained. "He’s resting in his room now."

After she spoke, she looked up at Jasper Shaw and asked, "Are you finished?"

Jasper Shaw nodded.

"What do you want to eat? I’ll go make something for you in the kitchen."

Jasper Shaw knew Chloe Sinclair had left in a hurry that morning and hadn’t had time to eat breakfast.

So, before Chloe Sinclair could even reply, he went into the kitchen himself. He took a bundle of dried noodles from a cabinet and pulled a piece of lean meat and some leafy greens out of the refrigerator.

"How about some noodles?"

Chloe Sinclair was about to say that it was almost lunchtime, but seeing Jasper Shaw already getting started, she swallowed her words.

"Okay," Chloe Sinclair said, then asked, "Are you having some?"

Jasper Shaw was about to say he wasn’t hungry, but when he turned and saw the look in her eyes, the words on the tip of his tongue changed. "I am."

Sure enough, Chloe Sinclair looked pleased. "I’ll help you," she said.

Jasper Shaw didn’t refuse. "Alright."

Half an hour later, a simple dish of Saozi noodles was ready.

They hadn’t made a large portion, just enough for one bowl each, and they finished eating in less than five minutes.

Chloe Sinclair felt a pleasant warmth in her stomach, and it was very comfortable.

"Are you heading back after this?"

After they finished eating, Jasper Shaw took the bowls to the kitchen.

Chloe Sinclair looked up and nodded. "Yes, I’ll go to the company with you. It’s a perfect chance to see what the new office looks like."

She had been back for a few days but still hadn’t found the time to go see her company.

Although Aaron Archer had sent her a video tour, she still hadn’t seen it in person.

She had time today, so it was a perfect opportunity to go with Jasper Shaw.

The two of them didn’t linger at the family home long after lunch before heading to the company.

They arrived at the office at exactly three in the afternoon.

The company was officially on holiday.

However, there were still quite a few employees who had chosen to work overtime instead of going home for the New Year.

At that time of day, employees were just getting back from their lunch break, and people were bustling about the office.

When they saw Jasper Shaw arrive, they all greeted him before quickly returning to their desks.

Lawson was in the breakroom making coffee when he happened to look up and see a familiar figure in the hallway.

He was so startled he nearly spilled his coffee all over the floor.

A friend beside him let out an amused snort. "Scared now, are we?"

Lawson didn’t say a word, but the way his hand trembled as he held his coffee showed he was genuinely terrified.

Seeing this, his friend could only try to console him. "Don’t worry. Even though you were running your mouth in the group chat last time, the boss probably doesn’t even remember you."

Lawson opened his mouth and said in despair, "But I’m the one who kicked the boss out of the group chat."

His friend was speechless.

’What a legend!’

Meanwhile, Jasper Shaw had indeed not given a second thought to what had happened in the group chat.

He accompanied Chloe Sinclair to her company’s office.
