From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 424: QuestioningIan Winters was in a hurry to copy some files when he returned to the office, so he hadn’t noticed the woman standing there.
When she suddenly spoke, Ian Winters had no choice but to finally look at her.
Except...
Ian Winters stared at the woman in confusion and couldn’t help but ask, "Who are you?"
Gloria Reynolds never imagined Ian Winters wouldn’t recognize her, and her face instantly darkened.
"You don’t recognize me?" Gloria Reynolds’s face was a mask of astonishment. "But you greeted me just yesterday," she said, incredulous.
Ian Winters asked, "Did I call you by name?"
Gloria Reynolds froze. Thinking back, she realized that when Ian Winters greeted her yesterday, he hadn’t actually used her name.
As if struck by a sudden realization, Gloria Reynolds’s face went deathly pale. Her lips parted, but no words came out.
Seeing her reaction, Ian Winters understood. He now had a good idea of what had just transpired.
A flicker of anger rose within him. His voice grew stern. "At the Shaw Group, the one thing we cannot tolerate is employees overstepping their bounds. You do not have the authority to be in this office. I need you to leave. And in the future, do not enter without permission."
Gloria Reynolds didn’t dare stay a moment longer. Hearing his words felt more like a liberation than a dismissal, and she practically stumbled back to her desk.
After Gloria Reynolds had gone, Ian Winters looked at Chloe with an apologetic expression. "Miss Sinclair, please don’t worry. I will be sure to handle today’s incident properly as soon as I’m back from my meeting."
Chloe Sinclair nodded. "Thank you, Assistant Winters."
With that said, Chloe Sinclair glanced at her phone. Aaron Archer had just sent her a message.
"I’m heading upstairs now. Shall we go together?"
Ian Winters nodded. The two of them walked to the elevators in the hallway, where they parted ways.
When Chloe Sinclair arrived upstairs, all the interviewees were already there.
Chloe Sinclair sat in the reception hall, a laptop resting on the white mahogany table before her.
"Boss, they’re all waiting outside."
Chloe Sinclair had already seen them on her way in, so she simply nodded.
"Okay, let’s begin the interviews. Have them all come in and sit down."
"Alright."
A few moments later, all ten interviewees had entered the reception hall.
But upon seeing that the interviewers were two young people, every one of them was slightly surprised.
Once everyone was seated, Chloe Sinclair announced, "Each of you will now have a minute and a half for a self-introduction."
And so, starting with the first person, they each began to painstakingly introduce themselves.
When the last person had finished, Chloe Sinclair closed the file in front of her.
"You may all return home and await our decision."
The candidates: "???"
Someone, probably not expecting an interview to be so simple, shot to his feet. He was clearly angry. "I spent an hour traveling from the next city to get here, and you’re just going to ask that one thing?"
"That’s right! I prepared so much for this interview."
"How can it be over so quickly?"
As the questions and complaints mounted, even Aaron Archer began to look worried.
He tugged on the hem of Chloe Sinclair’s shirt under the table and whispered, "Boss, what are you doing? Are we really ending it just like that?"
Chloe Sinclair just smiled. Then she asked, "You all say you prepared a great deal. In that case, I’d like to know: what exactly did you prepare?"
Her question stunned everyone into silence.
One of the male candidates spoke up. "Our knowledge of the company, of course, as well as our opinions on the proposed research topics. Don’t you need to spend a little more time listening to our thoughts on those things?"
"Are you really going to be so irresponsible with your company and its research?"
