Faye’s POV

After trying to avoid Malo and his bickering about how,

"the show must go on,"

I told him to just go there alone. He eventually agreed, though he kept grumbling that he was taking the bigger share. I shrugged my shoulders and ignored him, my chest rising with a long, tired breath as I walked away. Let him take the bigger cut for all I cared.

I didn’t even want to go to the hotel in the first place. What if I ran into that childish warlock again? His magic is way scarier than his little self.

Princess had lunch with the pups in their classroom, which was cute and lovely. She was trying to make up for missing last night’s bath-time adventure. I could hear the little giggles and the soft babbling all the way down the hall, the sound making my lungs expand with a sudden warmth.

I quietly stood by the door, secretly watching them, but it didn’t last long.

I was spotted.

I’m pretty sure Princess noticed me the moment I stood there but pretended not to. The one who actually turned around was Leonny. He snapped his head right in my direction, his eyes locking onto mine instantly.

That little dude always knows when I’m around.

It’s kind of a mystery to me. I really want to know how he always seems to sense that I’m nearby. I took a deep breath, a small chuckle escaping my lips as I finally pushed the door open all the way.

I joined them and played along with their little adventure. I sat down, letting the pups crawl all over my lap while Princess watched us with a soft, relaxed grin that made all the lingering stress from the morning melt right off my face.

After school, I ended up with only Leonny while Princess took the other three home.

Princess dropped me off. On the way, she complained about me refusing to drive. She has three other cars at home

I would’ve refused and insisted on buying my own, but I agreed because I didn’t want another argument with her. Princess hates it whenever I refuse something she gives me, and according to Malo, we have to pretend to be poor to avoid unnecessary questions.

I smiled at her and told her to come pick Leonny and me up later that evening. I reached over, pressing a quick kiss against her lips before unbuckling my seatbelt and grabbing the bag.

And there I was...

My first workplace.

The place I’m required to work and learn.

PP’s Shop.

Henry was already back from school, busy tidying up the shop. He was sweeping the floor with long, steady strokes, his chest rising and falling with a calm rhythm. Uncle PP was behind the counter, and curled up on top of it was Kali, the snake.

"Hi, Henry," I greeted as I walked past him. I adjusted the baby carrier strapped tightly across my chest, ensuring Leonny was secure.

"Hello, friend... and Baby L," he replied. He paused his sweeping for a second, giving me a small, polite nod before returning to the sweeping.

"Good afternoon, Uncle PP... and my dear Kali," I greeted my boss and the other boss. I stepped up to the counter, letting out a relaxed breath as I leaned my hands against the wood.

Kali immediately curled herself around my arm. Her cool skin slid smoothly over my wrist, her head resting gently against the back of my hand as she moved upward.

The poor snake hadn’t seen me in a while. She must’ve really missed me.

I gently stroked her as she wrapped herself around my arm. My fingers traced the clean patterns on her back, her breathing slow and steady against my skin.

Then she turned toward Leonny, who was still strapped to me with his pacifier in his mouth. Her eyes looked right at the baby’s face, her tongue flicking out for a quick second.

Leonny wasn’t afraid of the snake.

He simply giggled and reached out to touch her. His tiny, chubby fingers reached right for her smooth scales, his feet kicking back and forth against my stomach in pure excitement.

Wow...

My first son is a brave boy. My heart swelled with a sudden sense of pride, a wide smile breaking across my face as I watched him play with the reptile without a single hint of fear.

After settling down, I told PP about Leonny walking earlier than his siblings. I leaned over the counter, my voice dropping into a serious whisper as I explained how the little guy had just stood up and taken steps out of nowhere.

Uncle PP simply smiled and said that maybe Leonny was just growing up faster and was different from the others.

Still not the answer I was looking for.

I just wanted to know when the other three would take their first steps. I let out a frustrated huff through my nose, my fingers twisting the strap of the baby carrier.

If only Princess had let me bring them too.

But she said they still had some adventures to go on at home.

I still don’t understand why she only let me bring Leonny. I sighed, rocking my hips slightly to keep the little boy calm while he played with Kali’s tail.

After leaving Leonny with Henry and Kali, PP told me about the drugs I had given him to examine.

He said he had taken them to a chemist, and they had identified the substance. However, he still needed more time to do some research and confirm everything before explaining it to me.

That was one of the main reasons I’d come.

...and I still didn’t get an answer.

I noticed PP getting ready to leave. He grabbed his coat from the hook behind the chair, sliding his arms into the sleeves with a quick, practiced motion.

"Going somewhere?" I asked.

"Yes. I have to visit Martha. I have a session with her today." He said, adjusting his collar as his lungs expanded with a deep breath.

"Can I come?" I asked quickly, stepping forward before he could even reach for his keys.

"If you want to... but don’t say anything when we get there."

Why would I say anything? I rolled my eyes dynamically, but I quickly nodded my agreement anyway, glad to have an excuse to get out of the shop.

So I followed Uncle PP, leaving Henry to babysit Leonny until I got back.

Third person

While Faye and PP were out...

Henry and Kali played with Baby Leonny, who giggled happily as he watched them.

Henry leaned closer and put Leonny’s pacifier back into his mouth after it fell. The small plastic piece made a soft clicking sound as it slipped past the baby’s lips, Leonny’s tiny chest rising and falling with quick, happy breaths.

"Baby L, you almost got caught. I told you to be careful. I gave you my gift, and you have to make sure nobody finds out. Not even Mommy and Mama should know... unless you want her to come and take us."

He gently tapped Leonny’s tiny nose.

"This has to be our little secret." Henry murmured, his eyes locking onto the baby’s wide, knowing stare as Kali coiled tightly around his wrist.
