Ivy’s pov
I forced my eyes open, meeting his gaze in the mirror, breathing heavily. His lips drifted down the shell of my ear, sliding down to my neck, parting to suck on my skin.
I gasped, my knees buckling, barely holding me up. His breath was so soft, yet blazing hot.
Sensual, yet maddening. My teeth sunk into my bottom lip when his other hand came up to my hip, his fingers skimming the side of the dress upwards before dipping inside.
His thumb brushed the underside of my breast, and I bit my lip to keep from moaning.
"I’ve wanted to touch you like this since the moment I saw you," he whispered in a low, velvety rumble.
His hand moved higher, cupping my breast, his thumb circling my nipple under the silk dress.
"Ohh, Roman,"
My head fell back against his shoulder, my body arching into his touch.
He shifted, pulling me harder against him. His mouth left kisses on my shoulders as he pushed down the dress’s straps. "You’re exquisite, a vision."
His hands cupped my tits a little firmer, squeezing fondling as he bit down softly on my shoulder.
"That’s it," He rasped against my skin, lapping at the bite he left while my hips rolled, grinding my ass against the hard length of his cock, straining against his trousers.
He was everywhere, his scent, his touch, his heat. I writhed against him, aching for more, heat pooling between my legs.
"Ahem!"
The sound was like a bucket of ice water. I blinked rapidly to see two of the attendants through the mirror, standing behind us, looking anywhere but at us.
Pure, white-hot mortification crashed over me. I had completely forgotten they were there. I stumbled away from Roman, my face burning.
Roman gave a wistful, frustrated sigh. He ran a hand through his thick golden curls, a sheepish grin on his face.
"I can’t wait for tomorrow," his voice still thick with desire. "I’ll drop you off at home tonight. I need to know where you live so that I can pick you up for the party tomorrow."
I just nodded, still dazed, my body humming. He smiled and headed for the door. "I’ll just get the car. Wait here, Vivi."
The moment the heavy door clicked shut behind him, the spell was broken. The fog of desire cleared.
"Oh shit!" I cursed, earning weird looks from the attendants.
Oh please, like if they were in my shoes they wouldn’t have cursed too.
I ignored them, racing into the closet, trying to eat the dress off. Was he going to drop me off at my home? If he ever saw my home, it was over for me.
What kind of housekeeper lived in a sleek, high-security penthouse in one of the expensive parts of the city?
He would take one look at it and would have so many questions.
Or worse, he would see Angel, or Angel would see him, and my husband had never done anything in my favour before. He would probably just blab who I was to Roman just to spite me, that piece of shit!
I slapped a palm over my face, groaning. I had been so lost in the feel of Roman’s hands that I had agreed to walk right into a trap.
How the hell would I get out of this? I had to get out. I had to think.
My mind raced with so many possibilities. I could fake an illness or a sudden family emergency, but he would just offer to drive me to the hospital. I could tell him I would get a cab, but he was Roman; he would insist.
He basically strong-armed me into agreeing to be his date. I had to say something. I had to lie, and it had better be the most convincing lie of my life.
The door swung open. "Ready to go, my date?"
*****
"Well, this is me."
I might as well get an acting degree or become a politician, because even I was impressed by my lying and acting skills.
Roman’s Bentley was currently parked before a tall apartment complex, downtown Wisteria. The complex had to have at least fifty different apartments in it. The walls were laced with murky grime, mud, and some suspiciously yellow stuff that I didn’t want to pay too much attention to.
Perfect. He wouldn’t want to come back here again.
He gaped at the building, his lips curled in disgust, then back at me, his brows furrowed with concern. "This is where you live?"
"It’s... cozy," I lied, my fingers fumbling with the door handle.
"Like how many people live here?"
"Oh, I don’t know," I shrugged. "But it’s not so bad. Once you get used to the fights and the smell of... Of marijuana,"
His eyes widened even further. "What?!"
Oh crap, too far, too far, Ivy.
"Just kidding," I laughed dryly, stepping out of the car. My flats stepped right into a pile of mud, and bile rose in my throat.
Yup, this was karma for lying.
I swallowed it down immediately, turning to lean through the window, beaming at Roman. "Thanks for the ride, Mr Knight. I guess I’ll meet you at the party?"
"I’ll pick you up," he grumbled, still eyeing the building behind me warily. "Just to make sure you get in okay. I would feel better that way."
"Really, Roman, you don’t have to," I pleaded.
"I want to," he leaned closer to the window, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I’ll see you tomorrow, Vivi."
I waited thirty seconds after he drove off, then dropped a hand down to hail a cab home, sinking into the backseat exhausted.
All these lies, I would have to keep up with them, or I was in deep shit.
It was just for a little while. Once I got the ledger, the Knight brothers would be out of my life.
All I wanted was to fall into my own bed, in my own home, and forget the last twenty-four hours ever happened.
I paid the cabbie, stumbled into the lobby, and rode the elevator up in silence. The front door of the penthouse swung open under my key card. I kicked off my muddy shoes, picking them up to take them to the bathroom when I heard something that had me freezing in my steps.
