The jaguar girls must’ve been faster than I expected.

Even though I thought they had missed me, something hot burned down my back.

I took a deep breath and started launching several wind blades towards the jaguar girls, forcing them to circle around us.

Once one of the jaguar girls got behind Lily, the beastwoman charged forward, with her claws extended.

The other jaguar girl reacted by trying to reach my blind spot, but Lily erected five thick trees around us.

While the two women chipped away at the tree trunks, Lily rested her hands against the ground, fueling her magic and recovering the trees.

Lily: "Yes! B-But you-"

She nodded briefly, then shook her head, as if fear had overtaken her.

Miwen: "Don’t worry. Just return to the Kingdom for now."

Lily: "A-Are you sure? I can help-"

A palm pierced through the tree trunk behind her.

I caught it by the wrist before she could reach Lily.

Miwen: "I’ll call if I need to, alright?"

Lily nodded as I patted her head. The hand pulled back, knocking me against the trunk.

Just before Lily disappeared, I focused as much mana as I could into my hand, sending a massive electric discharge through it.

With Lily gone, it didn’t take a second for the other beastwoman to blow through, sending a storm of splinters my way.

??????: "He has nowhere to go, Fenya."

Miwen: "...Nya? That’s so cute-"

The woman narrowed her eyes.

At the same time, another hand burst through the tree trunk behind me, chokeholding me against it.

While Fenya tried suffocating me to death, her friend reached for my heart with her sharp nails.

She jumped from a branch before I could notice her, bringing me to the ground with her.

I finally felt her mana as she pinned me down.

Something big was about to come from the ground beneath my back, and I wasn’t interested in seeing what.

This time, she was smart enough to envelop her hands in earth, making it impossible for me to shock her.

Seeing her progress, my lips curled into a smile.

Her fangs showed, but before she had prepared her magic, I had readied mine.

I exhaled a razor-sharp gust.

As she dodged, I continued emptying my lungs, aiming at her.

The air that escaped me then cut the leaves nearby, and I rolled on the ground, away from the spiky rock pillar she erected.

I stood up just in time to face Kiki.

Her fists matched mine blow by blow.

While I blocked several, we traded painful strikes.

Fenya was also about to join her, but I couldn’t shake Kiki away.

Using all of my strength, I kicked her abdomen.

The air escaped her, but instead of giving me an opening, her claw-like fangs tore through my shoulder.

Miwen: "Kh!"

I shifted around, trying to intercept Fenya while pulling on Kiki’s hair as she mauled me.

However, instead of doing something smart, her friend also sank her fangs into my arm.

Their jaws tightened.

Pain exploded in my bones as the pressure crushed them.

I fell to my knees, screaming.

Fenya reached for my badge, but just as she touched it...

A white blur flashed through my eyes.

One of them lunged from behind the tree.

Mia kicked it, sending the entire tree her way.

At the same time, Mia used her kick to propel herself, turning just in time to grab Kiki by the neck.

Miwen: "Don’t kill them-"

While I started healing my shoulder, I felt as if Kiki was still mauling on it.

The more I healed my bones and skin, the more I felt it.

Mia: "Hmph."

Suddenly, Mia’s shoulder jolted back, as if she had been struck by the very punch she blocked.

However, she didn’t let go.

Instead, feeling Fenya approach, she threw Kiki toward her.

She crossed her arms and leaned forward, staring at me with furrowed brows.

A second later, the two jaguar girls appeared before us.

Fenya: "...A nurse?"

Staring hard at Mia’s uniform, Fenya tilted her head.

Meanwhile, Kiki had a surprisingly warm smile on her face.

Though she quickly shook it off.

Miwen: "She’s more like the hospital hound, but... Tonight, she’s my hunting dog."

I stood up.

My left arm was unusable, but I still had enough mana to deal with them.

Maybe the two were a little much for me alone, but with Mia by my side...

I had nothing to fear.
