Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Asking for Help

Long Ming understood and replied to the Pomide Clan Leader.

"We’re from Mountain City Mountain. My name is Long Ming!"

"Mountain City Mountain? What kingdom is that?"

Hearing Long Ming’s words, the Pomide Clan Leader and the others were completely baffled.

Long Ming coughed and asked.

"And you are...?"

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Pomide Clan Leader of the Faraken Kingdom. These people behind me are the last surviving subjects of our nation."

"You’re really natives?"

Hearing this, an incredulous expression appeared on Long Ming’s face.

Jing Chuan and the others began to mutter excitedly amongst themselves.

"Holy crap, living natives!"

"This is a first."

...

Just then, the Pomide Clan Leader asked doubtfully.

"Mr. Long Ming, where did you come from?"

"We’re not sure ourselves. We just inexplicably arrived in this world. But what’s happened to all of you?"

Long Ming calmly asked the Pomide Clan Leader.

"To be honest, all the nations of our world were destroyed by the rampaging Blood Breath Beasts. We are all that’s left. I led the last survivors deep into these mountains, hoping to just barely survive, but I never thought the Blood Breath Beasts would find us here anyway."

The Pomide Clan Leader explained, his expression filled with immense sorrow.

Hearing this, Jing Chuan and the others sighed with sorrow.

"Pomide Clan Leader, may I ask you a question?"

Long Ming asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Of course."

The Pomide Clan Leader nodded in reply.

"How did a monster like the Blood Breath Beast come into existence?"

Long Ming asked, cutting straight to the heart of the matter.

Luoxue and the others all turned to look at the Pomide Clan Leader.

’These people are pitiful, but we can’t completely trust them. The question Long Ming just asked is crucial.’

"We don’t know how the Blood Breath Beasts were created either. That year, an asteroid struck our planet and brought these monsters with it."

The Pomide Clan Leader didn’t hide anything, telling Long Ming and the others directly.

When Long Ming heard Pomide’s words, his heart skipped a beat. He asked again in shock to confirm.

"You were hit by an asteroid?"

"Yes, we’re not lying. Everyone here can testify to that."

The Pomide Clan Leader replied with great certainty.

Luoxue’s expression darkened at his words.

Jing Chuan suddenly slapped his thigh and exclaimed in horror.

"Shit, that’s the same as us!"

"That’s too much of a coincidence."

Zhihan and the others said in disbelief.

A chill ran down Long Ming’s spine. ’This can no longer be described as a coincidence.’

"You were hit by an asteroid, too?"

Hearing Jing Chuan and the others, the Pomide Clan Leader asked, stunned.

"Yes, our world was hit, too. But our situation was a bit better than yours. The asteroid impact only brought contamination; it didn’t create any monsters."

Long Ming briefly explained their situation to the Pomide Clan Leader.

"I see."

The Pomide Clan Leader nodded.

THUD~

Just then, an emaciated man collapsed to the ground.

A young boy cried out.

"Father, wake up!"

Seeing this, Long Ming quickly asked the Pomide Clan Leader.

"What’s wrong with him?"

"Sigh... Hunger. We’ve been trapped here by the monsters for over a year. We ran out of food and supplies long ago."

The Pomide Clan Leader said with a sigh.

"Quick, everyone, take out your food!"

Upon hearing this, Luoxue turned her head and said to Jing Chuan and the others.

Jing Chuan and the others immediately pulled compressed biscuits, canned food, and water from their backpacks and handed them to the people behind the Pomide Clan Leader.

The people stared at the food Luoxue and her group offered, swallowing hard. But none of them reached out to take it, looking instead to the Pomide Clan Leader.

"Thank you, our benefactors."

The Pomide Clan Leader did not refuse out of misplaced pride. After thanking Long Ming and his group, he turned to his people and said.

"Take the food. Give it to all the children and those who are on the brink."

Hearing this, everyone accepted the food and distributed it among the children and the weakest members of their group.

The children who got the food began to devour it ravenously.

"Eat slowly, don’t choke."

Zhihan quickly reminded them.

"Father, you eat."

The boy held a broken piece of the compressed biscuit to his fallen father’s lips.

But the emaciated man showed no reaction.

"SOB... Father, wake up, there’s food now."

The boy began to cry bitterly.

Everyone present watched this scene and fell silent.

Long Ming also let out a deep sigh.

Just then, a man with blood on his face, wearing gray mechanical exo-armor, stumbled over and shouted in despair.

"Clan Leader, Clan Leader!"

"Kariid, why are you back?"

The Pomide Clan Leader reached out and steadied the man who had rushed over.

Kariid spoke, his face a mask of despair.

"We’re almost out of ammo! The defensive line won’t hold!"

At these words, all the people present showed expressions of utter despair.

The Pomide Clan Leader’s body trembled, and he turned to look at Long Ming.

"Mr. Long Ming, I’m begging you, please save us! If you can save us, we are willing to pledge our allegiance to you!"

’Hearing that these natives were willing to join them, Long Ming drew a sharp breath. ’They might look wretched now, but they possess all sorts of intelligence and information about this world. Plus, they come with their own tech tree.’’

’This world’s civilization was clearly more technologically advanced than Mountain City Mountain’s.’

’If the impacting meteorite hadn’t brought the Blood Breath Beasts—those utterly disgusting alien creatures—with it, the contamination alone might not have been enough to push them to this state.’

However, Long Ming didn’t dare to agree rashly, so he said.

"Pomide Clan Leader, this is a rather big decision. Could you allow me to discuss it with my companions?"

"No problem."

The Pomide Clan Leader immediately agreed.

Long Ming and Luoxue immediately walked over to an open space nearby.

"What do you think?"

Long Ming asked Luoxue directly.

"Long Ming, this is beyond my authority. I can’t make the final call."

"I know, but this is a golden opportunity. You should understand what these natives represent. Setting aside the fact they have all the intel and information we desperately need, just look at how many of them are left. They must have retained a large number of talented people and technological data. All of that is priceless."

"I understand what you’re saying, but I’m worried the people back home won’t agree. What would we do then?"

"I don’t think the City Lord and the others are that short-sighted. Besides, you can agree for now. We can earn some goodwill first and figure out the rest later."

"Fine!"

After hearing Long Ming, Luoxue agreed decisively.

Seeing that Luoxue agreed, they walked back over to the Pomide Clan Leader together.

"Pomide Clan Leader."

"Mr. Long Ming, how did it go?"

"Rest assured, we will definitely save you," Long Ming confirmed.

"That’s wonderful! But... you don’t seem to have that many people."

The Pomide Clan Leader was ecstatic, as if he’d grasped a life-saving straw, but then he noticed that Long Ming’s group only seemed to number in the few hundreds.
