Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Bombardment

Instantly, swarms of Blood Breath Dogs rushed forward.

Just as Legion Commander Rein was about to swing his giant axe.

BANG! BANG!

A dense barrage of bullets rained down, striking the Blood Breath Dogs.

"AWOOO!"

One by one, the Blood Breath Dogs were pierced by bullets and collapsed reluctantly.

Rein froze, startled. He turned his head and saw Kariid arriving with Long Ming and the others as reinforcements.

Long Ming’s group fired in disciplined, rapid succession, laying down suppressive fire on the advancing monsters.

"Legion Commander Rein, we’re here to provide support,"

Kariid shouted excitedly.

"More people? Are you survivors from the Gilstu Kingdom?"

Rein asked, his eyes scanning the Night Ghost exoskeleton armor on Long Ming and the firearm in Luoxue’s hands.

"No, we’re from Mountain City Mountain,"

Long Ming replied to Rein, still firing his weapon.

"Legion Commander, sir, they were sent by God to save us,"

Kariid explained to Rein.

"There are only about five hundred of you, and your gear... it’s all standard-issue from the Gilstu Kingdom. It’s too shoddy. You can’t possibly save us."

A bitter look crossed Legion Commander Rein’s face. He sighed and shook his head.

The truth was, Rein and his men could still muster a few more fighters. The problem was the lack of weapons and ammunition. ’Manpower alone is useless.’

"Not necessarily. Miracles can happen if we just hold on,"

Long Ming said to the Legion Commander.

Rein roared with laughter at Long Ming’s words.

"Well said! Then let’s fight together to the very end."

"Alright. Kill!"

Long Ming replied crisply.

Just then, swarms of Blood Breath Dogs charged forward.

Long Ming and his men pulled out spinning grenades and hurled them into the fray.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Jing Chuan and the others felt a pang of regret with every grenade they threw, but they had no choice. All they could do now was fight to the death.

But even so, the Blood Breath Dogs seemed endless. They scrambled over the corpses of their own kind, charging forward in a frenzy.

A fierce battle raged between the two sides.

Over an hour later, the firepower from Long Ming’s group began to wane.

They had already used up more than half of their ammunition.

"Commander Luoxue, we’re almost out of ammo!"

Jing Chuan shouted anxiously.

"Precision shots only. Those out of ammo, switch to your own weapons."

Luoxue commanded, her brow furrowed. They had to conserve every bullet now.

"Yes!"

Everyone acknowledged the order.

With a tense expression, Long Ming continued to fire his weapon.

BANG! BANG!

He landed headshots on one Blood Breath Dog after another.

Although a headshot couldn’t kill a Blood Breath Dog instantly, it could at least wound it, slowing its advance and sometimes disorienting it.

Just then, a giant Corpse Ghost Beast, standing three meters tall, locked onto Long Ming and charged at him with incredible speed.

Startled, Long Ming instinctively reached for his belt, only to find he was out of spinning grenades.

’Damn it.’

Just as his expression soured and he prepared to dodge,

Rein rushed in, grabbing the attacking Corpse Ghost Beast’s head with one hand and brutally slamming it into the ground.

SLAM!

He then raised his double-bladed axe and brought it down with savage force.

CRACK!

The Corpse Ghost Beast was decapitated. Its body convulsed for a moment before falling still.

’Long Ming was stunned by the sight. Even though Rein was wearing an exoskeleton, his Power was absurd. It was completely beyond the normal range of human strength.’

"Are you alright?"

Rein asked with concern.

After all, Long Ming and his people had come to reinforce them; it was only natural for him to look out for them.

"I’m fine,"

Long Ming replied with a nod.

"AAAAH!"

Just then, a series of bloodcurdling screams erupted.

Long Ming whipped his head around to see soldiers being pounced on and mauled to death by Blood Breath Dogs.

"Damn it!"

He immediately opened fire.

Rein turned to watch the endless stream of charging Blood Breath Dogs. He took a deep breath and said to Long Ming’s group,

"I’m grateful for your support, but I can see you’re low on ammo. If you can’t hold out, you should retreat. We don’t have any spare ammunition either."

Long Ming fell silent at his words.

But just then, a tremendous roar echoed from the sky.

Hearing the familiar sound, a slight smile touched the corners of Long Ming’s lips. He turned to Rein and said,

"Not necessarily."

Rein froze, instinctively looking up at the sky.

There, breaking through the clouds, were Gray Swan heavy bombers, escorted by Nightingale fighters.

Rein was stunned. He spoke in disbelief,

"Bombers and fighters?"

’Even though the models looked outdated, it was unbelievable that anyone still had aerial forces of this scale.’

The soldiers of the Faraken Kingdom snapped out of their shock and began to cheer wildly.

"Air support!"

The Gray Swans opened their bomb bays.

Heavy-payload and incendiary bombs rained down.

BOOOOOOM!

Instantly, the entire area below the mountain peak erupted in a massive explosion, with countless dazzling flashes of light.

The entire zone was then engulfed in a sea of flames.

"AWOOO!"

Under the saturation bombing, countless Blood Breath Dogs were either blown to bits or consumed by the inferno.

"We won!"

"We held the line!"

...

Many of the Faraken Kingdom’s soldiers cheered, tears streaming down their faces as they finished off the remaining Blood Breath Dogs.

Jing Chuan and his comrades let out a collective sigh of relief. ’Thank God for the Third Legion’s air support,’ he thought. ’We would have been goners otherwise.’

As the bombers finished their run and began to head back, they opened their cargo bays, dropping a series of parachuted supply crates behind Luoxue’s position.

"What’s this?"

Rein asked, shocked.

"Standard procedure for a resupply airdrop. I take it the defensive line is secure now?"

Long Ming said, scanning the battlefield. After the bombing, the surviving Blood Breath Dogs had begun to rout.

"No problem. They’re scattered. It’ll be a while before they can regroup."

Rein replied with the voice of experience.

"Then let’s go retrieve the airdrop."

Long Ming led Rein, Luoxue, and the others toward the supply crates.

The crates soon landed in front of them.

Luoxue gave the order with a wave of her hand.

"Open them up!"

Jing Chuan and his men rushed forward to pry open the crates.

Inside, they found all sorts of ammunition, grenades, and C4 explosives, along with a large supply of compressed biscuits.

’Long Ming was surprised. He hadn’t expected the Third Legion’s Commander to be so thorough. Luoxue hadn’t even requested a resupply; the commander had anticipated their needs and dropped them anyway. Long Ming was certain the supplies must have been loaded onto the bombers in advance.’

When Rein and his men saw the contents of the crates, including medicine, they exclaimed excitedly.

"Weapons, food, and medicine!"

Long Ming glanced at Luoxue, who gave a slight nod.

"Legion Commander Rein, these supplies are for you. They might not be what you’re used to, but they should help."

"Thank you, my friend! With this, we can prevent a lot of deaths,"

Rein said, gripping Long Ming’s hand emotionally.

"Don’t mention it. We’re just doing our duty,"

Long Ming replied graciously.

"Words can’t express my gratitude!" Rein roared to his subordinates. "Now hurry, get the food and medicine and distribute it!"

"Yes, sir!"

His soldiers swarmed forward to grab the supplies.
