Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Crazy

A well-proportioned, middle-aged man with deep eyes and sharp features walked down, leading a group of people. He carried an effortless air of authority.

This man was none other than Qian Xing, the third son of City Lord Qian Luo and the Legion Commander of the Third Legion.

Qian Xing’s brow furrowed when he saw Qian Yun and his people. He led his men over to them.

Seeing this, Luoxue immediately turned to Long Ming and the others.

"Wait for me here. I’m going to go see what’s happening."

"Alright."

Long Ming and the others agreed.

Luoxue hurried over to join Qian Xing, and together they approached Qian Yun and the Pomide Clan Leader.

Soon, they were standing before Qian Yun and the Pomide Clan Leader. Qian Xing didn’t argue with Qian Yun; they merely exchanged a look before he turned and offered a warm greeting.

"Hello, Pomide Clan Leader."

The Pomide Clan Leader was taken aback when he saw Luoxue standing beside Qian Xing.

He instantly realized he had welcomed the wrong group and hurriedly asked.

"And you are...?"

"I am Qian Xing, Legion Commander of Mountain City Mountain’s Third Legion."

"Ah, and what is your relationship to him?"

"This is my older brother," Qian Xing explained with a smile.

"I see."

The Pomide Clan Leader breathed a sigh of relief. ’Good, they’re from the same faction. Otherwise, this would have been a huge mess.’

"Pomide Clan Leader, shall we speak privately?" Qian Xing suggested with a smile.

"Of course."

The Pomide Clan Leader then walked with both Qian Yun and Qian Xing toward a clear area in the distance.

Luoxue and Qiansha, who remained behind, exchanged a look. Neither of them spoke.

Meanwhile, Qian Yun cut straight to the chase with the Pomide Clan Leader.

"Pomide Clan Leader, I hear you’re interested in joining Mountain City Mountain."

"Well..."

The Pomide Clan Leader didn’t answer right away. Instead, he glanced at Qian Xing, since his agreement had been with Luoxue’s group.

Seeing the Pomide Clan Leader hesitate, Qian Yun continued.

"I don’t like to beat around the bush, so I’ll be direct. If you join us and provide your technology and intelligence, Mountain City Mountain will guarantee your safety and provide all the supplies you need."

"Huh?" the Pomide Clan Leader responded, dumbfounded.

"What? Are you not satisfied with these terms?"

Qian Yun’s brow tightened as he glanced at Qian Xing. ’Don’t tell me this guy promised them something more.’

"No, you’ve misunderstood. We are willing to join Mountain City Mountain. We have no problem providing whatever technology and intelligence you want. We can give it all to you. But that’s not what we want in return," the Pomide Clan Leader replied anxiously.

"Then what is it?"

Qian Yun and Qian Xing looked at the Pomide Clan Leader, confused.

"You’re from another world, aren’t you? All we want is for you to take us away from this world. Take us to yours," the Pomide Clan Leader said urgently to the two brothers.

Qian Yun’s brow furrowed. "Why?"

"To save our own skins, of course! You can’t possibly think you can defeat those Blood Breath Beasts, can you?" the Pomide Clan Leader asked, baffled.

"Hmph. Why couldn’t we? They’re just a bunch of animals."

A disdainful look crossed Qian Yun’s face.

"My Lords, it’s not that I underestimate Mountain City Mountain! You simply have no idea how powerful the Blood Breath Beasts are. The creatures you’ve seen are the most common type. The strongest power on our world, the Aniska Empire, was annihilated by them. The truly powerful Blood Breath Beasts are amassed over there."

The Pomide Clan Leader explained as tactfully as he could. ’What a joke. They think they can beat the Blood Breath Beasts with those scrap-heap weapons Mountain City Mountain uses?’

"So what? We can still exterminate them."

Qian Yun didn’t give the Blood Breath Beasts a second thought. ’They’re just a bit resilient. Under a sufficient barrage of firepower, they’ll die just the same.’

Beside him, Qian Xing’s expression darkened, but he remained silent.

The Pomide Clan Leader was left speechless by Qian Yun’s words. It was clear he wasn’t taking the warning seriously at all. ’Blind confidence and arrogance.’

Still, he couldn’t press the issue, so he simply asked, "My Lords, we are truly terrified of the Blood Breath Beasts. Is it possible for you to take us to your world to settle?"

Just as Qian Yun heard this and was about to tell him they couldn’t return...

...Qian Xing suddenly cut in.

"Of course. But we can’t return just yet."

"Why not?"

The Pomide Clan Leader’s heart felt like it was on a rollercoaster.

"To be perfectly honest, we’ve only just arrived in this world. Our machinery requires repairs and a tremendous amount of energy before we can return. But don’t worry. Once you join Mountain City Mountain, we’ll be family. We will absolutely take you with us when we leave," Qian Xing promised the Pomide Clan Leader.

"Very well. I’ll go inform my people about our decision to join Mountain City Mountain."

The Pomide Clan Leader ultimately chose to compromise. He had no other path to take.

"Very good. Take care."

Qian Xing politely saw the Pomide Clan Leader off.

The Pomide Clan Leader turned and left, leaving the two brothers alone.

Qian Xing turned to Qian Yun with a smile.

"Well, Older Brother, your intelligence network is quite impressive. You even managed to arrive ahead of me."

"Is that so strange? As the supreme commander, I’m responsible for the entire operation. It’s only natural that I lead from the front."

Qian Yun knew perfectly well that Qian Xing was insinuating he had planted a spy, but he couldn’t care less.

"Older Brother, we had an agreement: finder’s keepers. You’re breaking the rules."

There was a hint of accusation in Qian Xing’s voice. He hadn’t wanted to speak up in front of the Pomide Clan Leader, but now he had no such reservations.

"That’s right, but let’s be clear. Your people may have saved them, but an alliance of this magnitude isn’t your call to make. They can’t just join your Third Legion. If they join, they join Mountain City Mountain as a whole!"

Qian Yun’s tone was unyielding, leaving no room for argument.

’If the Third Legion absorbs these natives, there’s no telling what might happen. They could use this to rise in power.’

"Fine. Since you’ve put it that way, we’ll follow this rule for any natives we discover in the future."

"Naturally."

"Alright, let’s drop it. What’s your take on the intelligence the Pomide Clan Leader provided?" Qian Xing asked, his expression turning serious.

"The intelligence itself is fine, but don’t let it scare you. These people have been frightened out of their wits by the Blood Breath Beasts. Of course all they can think about is running away."

"You have a point, Older Brother."

"And another thing. You lied to them, telling them we could go back?"

"Did I lie? How so? Without enough energy, we’d die even if we could go back. All they want right now is to escape this world. If you tell them the truth, they’ll fall into despair and refuse to cooperate. It’s better to give them a sliver of hope, which in turn gives *us* hope. Once we’ve fully obtained their information, technology, and weapons, and once we’ve demonstrated our true power, they’ll see a reason to hope. Then they’ll naturally join forces with us, and all our problems will be solved."

Qian Xing explained his reasoning.
