Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Charge

Qiansha, Qian Luobing, Modick, Farina, and the others all walked to the very front, gazing into the distance.

Innumerable Blood Breath Beasts came into view. Among them were more than a dozen Lord Level monsters, and more were constantly converging from both flanks.

"Damn it, that’s a lot of monsters!"

Modick stared at the tide of monsters blocking their path, his scalp tingling with dread.

"Breaking through will be difficult!"

Farina felt her confidence waver.

The expressions on Qian Luobing and Qian Hai’s faces also grew solemn.

"Hmph. Getting cold feet now, are we?"

Qiansha said coldly to the group.

"As if!"

Modick retorted with a cold snort.

"If you’re not afraid, then I’ll begin the pre-battle briefing."

Qiansha said crisply.

"Alright!"

Hearing Qiansha’s words, Modick and the others nodded.

Qiansha then strode before the entire army.

Captain Alang drove a vehicle equipped with a loudspeaker to his side, then picked up the microphone and handed it to Qiansha.

Qiansha took the microphone and spoke in a stern voice.

"Everyone! Ahead of us is the monster tide that has us surrounded. Don’t be intimidated by their numbers. In truth, they’re nothing but a pack of brainless beasts, nothing to fear! Just follow me, and I will lead you as we carve a path out of this encirclement and head home! Do you have the confidence?"

"Yes!"

The soldiers of the Mountain City Mountain First Legion roared, their morale soaring.

As for the other three legions—the troops from Sinful City and Star Tower City—their response was weak, their morale clearly flagging.

The soldiers on the ground weren’t idiots. Even though Qiansha called the Blood Breath Beasts trash, they knew it couldn’t be true.

Modick and the others shook their heads slightly at Qiansha’s pre-battle speech, thinking it lacked any real substance.

Wasting no more words, Qiansha turned directly to Captain Alang.

Captain Alang understood immediately and gave a sharp wave to his subordinates.

At once, two elite squads from Qiansha’s forces broke away and moved to the rear of the troops from Star Tower City and Sinful City.

Seeing this, expressions of surprise flickered across the faces of Qian Hai and Qian Luobing.

Modick’s face darkened instantly. He confronted Qiansha directly.

"Qiansha, what is the meaning of this?"

"Lord Qiansha, isn’t this a bit inappropriate?"

Farina also questioned Qiansha, her voice soft but firm.

They hadn’t expected Qiansha to actually post enforcer squads behind their forces. It was a clear sign of his distrust.

"Hmph. What’s inappropriate about it? I’m just giving you an insurance policy. As long as you fight bravely, you have nothing to worry about. Or are you planning on cowering from the fight? Perhaps you intend to desert your post?"

Qiansha demanded, sneering at the two of them.

"Don’t twist my words. I just think you’re going too far."

Modick replied, his tone sullen.

"Going too far? *I’m* the one leading the charge!"

Qiansha shot back without a hint of courtesy.

"Fine! Those are your words."

Qiansha’s words left Modick and the others speechless. In the end, they could only grit their teeth and agree.

Just then, Qiansha drew his greatsword, Juque, and roared to the entire army with a murderous aura.

"Brothers, charge with me!"

At Qiansha’s roar, the heavy tank division of the First Legion charged forward at full speed.

The rest of the army immediately followed suit.

Under Qiansha’s command, the entire joint force surged toward the monster tide like a great river.

Within the Blood Breath Beast tide ahead, the Lord Level beasts watched the approaching army and let out piercing shrieks.

Innumerable Blood Breath Beasts swarmed forward to meet the army, just like the tide.

...

「Aiko Mountain Range.」

Long Ming stared at an update on the Civilization Forum, his brow deeply furrowed.

"What is it?"

Jing Chuan asked, leaning closer to Long Ming.

"I just got news from the forum. The combined forces from the three cities were intercepted by a massive swarm of Blood Breath Beasts near Damandi City. They’re stopped cold, and now both sides are locked in a brutal, bloody battle."

"You’re kidding. The combined forces of three cities can’t get through? Just how many monsters are there?"

"Too many to count. Someone risked their life to upload a photo. There are over a dozen Lord Level monsters on site."

Long Ming said, letting out a heavy sigh.

"Holy crap!"

Jing Chuan was stunned.

’Back when we were defending the city, running into just two Lord Level Blood Breath Beasts nearly cost us everything,’ he thought. ’And the main army just ran into more than a dozen of them.’

Just then, Luoxue spoke up.

"The Blood Breath Beasts below are on the move!"

Surprised, Long Ming and the others immediately looked down the mountainside.

They saw that the Blood Breath Beasts entrenched on the plain below had begun to run off into the distance, as if following some command.

"Luoxue, doesn’t this feel a little off? The main army just engaged the enemy, and now these Blood Breath Beasts are being drawn away."

Long Ming asked Luoxue, a thoughtful look on his face.

"It does. It’s like someone is commanding them. But this is an opportunity for us. Look at the map!"

Luoxue raised her wrist-device, displaying a map of the area.

Jing Chuan, Zhihan, and the others crowded around.

"We’re here right now. In front of us is a plain, but if we run ten kilometers in this direction, we’ll reach a ravine. There’s a bridge over the ravine, and a mountain peak behind it. If we can get across that bridge and then blow it up, we’ll have made it."

Luoxue explained to the group.

"It’s doable!"

Long Ming and the others all nodded in agreement.

"Since no one has any objections, we’ll wait for the number of monsters below to thin out, then we make our breakthrough!"

Luoxue said to Long Ming and the others.

"Right!"

Long Ming and the others nodded in agreement.

Time trickled by, and soon the number of Blood Breath Beasts on the plain below had dwindled.

"This is our chance. Let’s move!"

Without another moment of hesitation, Luoxue gave a sharp wave of her hand.

Long Ming and the others charged down the slope after Luoxue.

They soon reached the plain below. The few scattered Blood Breath Beasts turned their heads to look at them.

"ROAR—"

The beasts bared their fangs and charged ferociously.

Luoxue led the charge, her blade flashing as she cleaved an oncoming Blood Breath Dog in two.

Jing Chuan and the others also fought desperately to push forward.

Soon, Long Ming’s group broke through the stragglers.

"We made it!"

Zhihan and the others were ecstatic. With just a little more time, they would be able to break out completely.

But just then, several hundred Blood Breath Beasts appeared ahead of them.

"ROAR!"

The beasts glared at Luoxue’s group with utter ferocity.

"Damn, we ran into a smaller pack," Jiang Hengxin said, his heart sinking.

"Fire!"

Luoxue couldn’t afford to hesitate.

Long Ming and the others raised their firearms and opened fire furiously.

BANG! BANG!

Blood Breath Beast after Blood Breath Beast was gunned down.

But Long Ming’s group felt no joy, because the gunshots echoed throughout the entire area.

"Move!"

Luoxue immediately led the group forward at a full sprint.

"ROAR!"

Roars from Blood Breath Beasts began to sound from all directions, and the very ground began to tremble.

Long Ming looked toward the source of the sound. In the distance above them, massive numbers of Blood Breath Beasts were swarming down the slopes, led by several General Level beasts.

"Damn it, we still alerted them."

The color drained from the faces of Jing Chuan and the others.
