Since there was still time left, after discussing it for a bit, the three of them stopped by a clothing store on the way to the café. Hajime went inside and bought a pair of jeans to change into.
After getting back into the car, she looked at her legs and nodded in satisfaction.
"Mhm, this is much better!"
Haruno also lowered her head to glance at her own outfit. She was wearing a knee-length skirt today, so there wasn't really any issue.
Turning toward Ichin in the driver's seat, Haruno smiled and asked:
"Ichin, do you think I look better in short skirts or long skirts?"
After only calming down for a single day, Haruno was already starting again.
While driving, Ichin answered without even thinking:
"Both look good. I'm not just saying that to flatter you, Haruno-nee. With your figure, anything looks good on you. I'm right, aren't I, Hajime?"
Clearly unaware of what had happened at Ichin's house yesterday, Hajime immediately nodded.
"Exactly! Haruno's so pretty that anything looks good on her, and she's always had great fashion sense. Unlike me, I'm super casual when picking clothes."
Haruno rolled her eyes at Ichin, then turned back toward Hajime.
"As for fashion sense, you could read more magazines. And isn't Hifumi really professional when it comes to this stuff? You could ask her more often."
"Mhm~~~ I guess that's true. I should probably learn more from Hifumi then."
Back when they developed Persona and later Tales of Berseria, many of the character outfits had been designed by Hifumi. Whether it was fantasy-style clothing or modern urban fashion, she understood it all very well, and her own everyday fashion sense was also excellent.
Now that the topic had come up, Hajime felt she should probably learn a little herself.
Even if she didn't wear skirts, asking Hifumi for advice would probably still give her plenty of good outfit combinations.
Since they still had some time before arriving, Hajime also started asking Haruno for daily fashion tips. Since there was still some distance left before reaching the café, Haruno happily chatted with her about it instead of refusing.
Ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of the reserved café.
After Hajime and Haruno got out, Ichin looked at the two of them and said:
"You two go in first. I'll park the car up ahead and come in afterward."
"OK, then we're heading in first~~~"
Haruno smiled and waved at Ichin before entering the café together with Hajime.
After entering, they realized the person they were meeting hadn't arrived yet, so under the waiter's guidance, the two were brought to their reserved seats and ordered two coffees.
After sitting down, Haruno looked at Hajime.
"So? Nervous?"
"Hehe, maybe I would be if I came alone, but it feels much better with you here, Haruno."
Waving her little fist, Hajime smiled and said:
"If that guy seems even slightly off later, Haruno, don't hold back. Hit him where it hurts and make him give up on his own!"
"You want me to do it?"
Haruno tapped her chin thoughtfully.
"Mhm, I can do that, but you should handle things yourself first. Today I'm mainly here as your assistant... and to protect you a bit on the side."
"Ehh~~ Fine then. Anyway, I'm definitely not interested in him."
Hearing Hajime say that, Haruno smiled and lightly bumped her shoulder.
"Then tell me, what type do you actually like?"
"My type, huh?"
Crossing her arms, Hajime nodded.
"Well, first of all, he has to like sports. I exercise a lot myself, whether it's cycling or running. Then he can't interfere with my hobbies or constantly criticize me. Both people should have some personal space. And lastly, hehe, his appearance can't be too bad. If we score out of one hundred, he should at least be an eighty, right?"
Haruno wasn't particularly surprised by Hajime's requirements.
After all, whether it was her looks, figure, or career, Hajime herself was excellent in every aspect, so she naturally had the qualifications to have standards for her future partner.
"Then what about salary requirements?"
"Salary, huh? Ah, I almost forgot about that."
After thinking for a moment, Hajime said:
"Mhm... at the very least, he shouldn't make less than me, right? My annual salary, not counting bonuses, is six million yen. Haruno, how does that compare?"
"Mhm, that's already very impressive. And you're still young. With Ichin's management style, your salary will definitely keep increasing in the future. At your age, you're absolutely among the top tier, as long as we're not counting rich second-generation kids."
"Hehe, that's true! I already got a raise once this year!"
Hajime said happily.
"And now I've developed good habits too. I'm not living paycheck to paycheck anymore. I've actually saved up quite a lot of money!"
"Having savings habits is definitely a good thing."
Just as Haruno said that, she saw the café door open and a flamboyantly dressed man walk in.
It was Hajime's blind date partner.
"He's here."
"Hm?"
Hajime looked over and immediately showed a disgusted expression.
"His hair is even more ridiculous than in the photo. Isn't he supposed to work in sales? Why does he look like a host club guy?"
Haruno also wanted to laugh, but seeing him already walking over, she forcibly held it in.
After the man sat down, Ichin entered the café shortly afterward as well. Seeing that everyone had arrived, he directly chose a booth seat behind Haruno and the others, sitting down quietly.
After ordering coffee and cake, Ichin listened as the conversation behind him began.
Naturally, the first thing was the man introducing himself.
He really did work in sales. After hearing the company name, Ichin took out his phone and searched it up.
It wasn't a particularly large company, but it was decent enough.
Of course, no matter the scale or salary, it couldn't compare to Ichin's company.
Since this was a blind date, these things naturally had to be discussed, including salary.
Because he worked in sales, the man's income wasn't very stable. Including his year-end bonus, his annual income last year had been four million yen.
Although that was already pretty good, after hearing Hajime's self-introduction and learning about her income, the man visibly lost his composure.
Clearly, he hadn't expected Hajime's salary to be that high.
Ichin guessed Hajime probably had never specifically told her family about her exact income before.
Or perhaps her parents simply never mentioned it to others.
Both were possible.
After listening for a few more minutes, Ichin could already tell this blind date was about to end. And with Haruno occasionally chiming in from the side, the pressure on the guy practically increased minute by minute.
Sure enough, after Hajime gave him a relatively polite rejection, even though the man was extremely satisfied with every aspect of her, he could only reluctantly say goodbye and leave.
Still, there was one thing he did pretty well.
At least he knew to pay the bill himself.
