Next, Yamada Elf personally tried out the two games currently in development: Bloodborne and Phasmophobia.

As expected of a veteran player who had even written strategy guides for Dark Souls, Yamada Elf quickly got the hang of things. After familiarizing herself with the controls in the first two attempts, she defeated Father Gascoigne on her third try.

Watching her gameplay from behind, Eriri's eyes widened in amazement.

"You're amazing!!!"

Putting down the controller, Yamada Elf stood up with her hands on her hips and proudly declared,

"Hehehe~~ See that? That's the power of a veteran gamer! This game is really good, though it's a shame it'll still take several more months before release. Ichin, can I try any other bosses?"

Ichin smiled and shook his head.

"One is enough. Save the other bosses for when the game officially releases and enjoy them properly then. For now, let's go try Phasmophobia. Have you played many horror games?"

Since Ichin had already said so, Yamada Elf readily agreed and followed everyone toward the Phasmophobia development team.

"Not really. I've only played things like Resident Evil. But can you really use voice chat in real time to find ghosts in this game?"

"Of course. The voice recognition system has already been completed. Japanese and Chinese are both working quite well, though very strong regional accents might cause some recognition issues. We're also trying to add some currently popular internet slang to increase interactions between players and ghosts during investigations. In fact, we're even considering adding VR support in the future, though that'll probably come after launch as a later update."

Listening to his explanation, Yamada Elf became even more excited.

When they arrived at the Phasmophobia development group, she unexpectedly encountered two fans of her novels. Happily, she signed autographs for them before finally beginning her play session.

Since it was an online multiplayer game, Utaha and Yukino were also dragged over to join.

Ichin himself didn't participate. Instead, he acted as an observer and guide, explaining various mechanics to them, so he pulled Eriri over as the fourth player.

After sitting down and seeing the game's interface, Eriri shot Ichin an unhappy look.

"Couldn't you find someone else? Why did it have to be me?!"

Ichin laughed.

"I know you're afraid of ghosts, so I thought this would be good training for you. Don't worry, hurry up and put on your headset."

"..."

Puffing out her cheeks, Eriri looked unwilling, but seeing the other three waiting for her, she could only put on the headset and enter the game.

Since this was merely a test session, Ichin didn't assign anything too difficult. He simply selected a two-star mission set inside a villa.

As for the actual objective, they would have to discover it themselves.

After explaining the basic controls, Ichin said,

"Alright, now you can choose your equipment. Once you're done, you can enter the stage. During the mission, you can gather clues and determine the ghost type through your journal. After identifying it, you can either leave immediately or eliminate the target. Both methods complete the mission, but the rewards are different."

Taking a thermometer and a crucifix, Yamada Elf confidently declared,

"Hehehe, of course we're going to completely exorcise it! Ah, almost forgot the flashlight."

After everyone selected their equipment, they entered the stage and appeared in front of a villa.

Although everyone except Eriri was relatively brave, neither Utaha nor Yukino had ever experienced Phasmophobia before. Just like Yamada Elf, they were complete beginners.

Eriri at least knew a little about the game, but unfortunately, she was also the most terrified of ghosts among the four.

Because of that, Ichin never expected them to actually complete the mission. His goal was simply to observe real player behavior during the experience.

The results proved that the atmosphere had been created exceptionally well.

The four girls screamed at the slightest unusual event, which only further amplified the terrifying atmosphere.

In the end, although they successfully determined that the ghost was a Revenant, everyone had long since lost the composure they started with and immediately chose to leave the villa and end the mission.

At the results screen, Yamada Elf looked depressed as she stared at the rather mediocre money and experience rewards.

"We should've tried exorcising it. The journal clearly wrote down what Revenants are weak against."

Beside her, Eriri removed her headset and rubbed the goosebumps on her arms.

"Isn't this game way too immersive? I don't want to play anymore!"

Utaha and Yukino felt similarly. Even though they weren't particularly afraid of ghosts, the atmosphere was simply too realistic for their hearts to handle.

After asking Yamada Elf and confirming that she still wanted another round, Ichin recruited three more employees from the company. The four of them tackled a three-star mission together.

This time, Yamada Elf was much calmer. After identifying the ghost as a Poltergeist, she followed the records and successfully performed the exorcism with ease.

She even tried using the voice taunts she hadn't had the chance to use during the first game. Her trash talk ability was maxed out, producing exactly the kind of effect Ichin had envisioned for the game.

After finishing the playtest, Yamada Elf sat in Ichin's office for a while and chatted with everyone before preparing to leave.

As they escorted her downstairs and waited for her taxi, Utaha asked,

"Emily, are you free this weekend? We've rented an indoor swimming pool and are planning to spend the whole day there. Want to join us?"

"Eh? An indoor pool?"

Looking at the weather outside, Yamada Elf was clearly tempted.

"Will there be a lot of people?"

"Not really."

Utaha counted on her fingers.

"Just around ten people. Mostly the original company members like Kō and the others. And besides Ichin, everyone else is a girl, so you won't feel uncomfortable."

Yamada Elf happily raised her hand.

"Oh! Then I'm coming! Which pool is it?"

"I'll send you the time and address later. On Saturday we'll drive over and pick you up. And for dinner, come to our house. We'll have a barbecue party in the courtyard together."

After spending the day together, Utaha had grown quite fond of this younger girl and happily extended the invitation.

"Great! Then I'll go home and prepare my swimsuit!"

Just then, the taxi arrived.

After getting into the back seat, Yamada Elf rolled down the window and waved at Utaha.

"Bye-bye, Utaha! I had so much fun today. See you this weekend!"

"Mm, see you this weekend."

Watching the taxi disappear into the distance, Utaha returned upstairs with a cheerful smile on her face.
