Silence descended upon the ruined chamber, the pillar of violet light still blazed toward the heavens illuminating the shattered underground complex in a ghostly glow, dust drifted lazily through the air as pieces of stone continued to fall from the fractured ceiling.

And in the middle of it all the awakened figure stood quietly, they simply looked around, there was no rage, no bloodlust, no excitement, only curiosity, Kai found that infinitely more terrifying and very interesting at the same time

Why does it have that look on it’s face? He thought.

The Curator slowly stepped forward, his eyes shone with feverish excitement, "It worked."

The figure turned toward him, "It did."

The Curator laughed, years of obsession, sacrifice, research, experimentation, faliures , near insanity and relentless murder had finally produced results, "It worked," he repeated.

The figure tilted its head, "You are the one responsible for bringing me into this world?"

"Yes."

The smile on the Curator’s face widened, "I freed you."

"I am your curator, i am your master"

"Master?" The figure said in a voice with an underlying fury

"Yes!" The curator bleated loudly.

The figure was silent for several moments

then it nodded, "I see."

The Curator spread his arms, "Together, we shall reshape this world."

The figure looked genuinely puzzled, "Together?"

"Of course."

The figure blinked once then it raised a hand, the Curator exploded backward, his body slammed into a distant wall with enough force to crack the stone, blood spilled from his mouth, absolute silence followed.

The figure lowered its hand, "I do not remember agreeing to that."

The Curator stared, they all stared, Kai stared, Elias burst into laughter, "I like this one."

Kai gave him a condescending look "ofcourse you do, jerk" he muttered under his breath.

Caelum did not appear amused.

The System abruptly spoke.

[Warning.]

[Unknown entity detected.]

[Threat assessment impossible.]

Kai swallowed.

Yes i can see that but can we kill it?

[Unknown.]

That answer unsettled him far more than he cared to admit.

The figure slowly turned, its eyes moved from person to person, Caelum, Elias, Dexter, Nox, then they settled upon Kai, the figure paused, its expression changed, the amusement and relative curiosity vanished, surprise took its place, "Interesting."

Kai took an involuntary step backward, the figure took a step forward, "A blessing."

Kai froze, the System became perfectly silent, the figure’s eyes narrowed, "An extraordinarily powerful blessing."

Kai glanced around, "Are you talking to me?"

"Obviously, who else here has a blessing?"

Uhmm...system. The System was completely silent, kai began to sweat.

Elias smiled, "Oh, this should be entertaining, who ever knew that our precious kai here possesses a divine blessing?"

Everyone ignored him but he kept smiling sheepishly and that pissed Kai off so much.

Caelum stepped forward immediately, "You will remain where you are."

The figure looked at him and ignored him entirely.

Its gaze returned to Kai, "Your existence is peculiar."

Kai frowned, "I hear that a lot."

"You are weak."

Kai’s eyebrow twitched, "I hear that one quite a lot, too."

"And yet you possess divine protection."

Nox’s eyes sharpened instantly, Dexter straightened, even Elias’s smile faded slightly, Kai remained completely still, the figure seemed fascinated, "Curious."

"What blessing?"

"The one surrounding you."

Kai’s heart skipped a beat, the blessing, he knew exactly what it was...the Beautification Beyond Measure, he panicked

"You can see it?" He asked the figure.

"Of course."

The figure tilted its head, "It is quite brilliant."

Kai had no idea how to respond to that, fortunately Caelum did, "You are done speaking."

The figure looked mildly disappointed, "I have not finished."

"I have."

Caelum moved, the underground chamber shook, Kai barely managed to follow the movement, the Sword Sovereign crossed the distance instantly, his blade descended, the figure raised one finger, steel met flesh, the sword stopped, every sound in the chamber disappeared.

The figure blinked, "Oh."

Then it flicked its finger, Caelum was launched backward, the silver-haired swordsman twisted in the air before landing several metres away, the stone floor shattered beneath his feet.

Elias whistled softly, "That’s impressive, i want to play too"

Caelum slowly rose, "Indeed."

For the first time Kai saw genuine surprise on his face, then Elias disappeared, the air seemed to twist as hundreds of nearly invisible threads spread through the chamber, the figure watched them approach, "Interesting."

The threads reached their target, nothing happened, the figure simply walked through them, every strand of mana dissolved, Elias sighed, "Well, that’s unfortunate."

Dexter appeared next, his movement was so fast that Kai almost missed it, one strike, then another, then dozens more, the figure caught every single one, "Very fast."

Dexter leaped backward, "Very troublesome."

Nox quietly opened his notebook, Midnight jumped onto his shoulder, the demon’s eyes glowed softly, countless translucent images appeared around the chamber, phantom residue, past movements, past conversations, past emotions, Nox frowned, "Nothing."

Kai blinked, "Nothing?"

"Nothing."

The detective closed the notebook, "I don’t see a past."

"Uhm.."Kai knew nothing of what he was talking about.

Nox caught on immediately "oh my ability allows me to see the faint past of a corrupted plane, i can catch the previous events of a place heavily affected by mana"

Kai understood immediately, "oh!" He gasped.

"But what’s the point, you pretty much caught everything that led up to this and if you didn’t it’s not important" he added.

"No you misunderstand when i say plane i also mean humans, bodies, souls anything greatly affected by mana" Nox corrected.

Kai’s eyes widened in understanding "and you saw nothing?"

Kai nodded.

A chill ran down his spine, everything had a past, everything, the figure looked at Nox curiously, "That is an unusual ability."

"Thank you." Nox replied rather cheerfully, appreciative of the fact that his ability was recognized.

"You’re welcome." The figure replied in turn, accepting gratitude.

Kai stared obviously taken back, "Is anybody else disturbed by this conversation?"

"No," Elias answered.

"Very," Dexter answered at the same time.

The figure took another step forward, its eyes never left Kai, "How fascinating."

Caelum immediately positioned himself between them, "You’re becoming irritating."

The figure stopped walking, "I merely wish to examine the blessing."

"No."

"I wasn’t asking."

The temperature throughout the chamber dropped, the violet light overhead intensified, then the entire city shook, everyone looked upward, the ceiling open, far above the night sky glowed purple, the corruption was spreading, screams echoed from the streets above.

The System immediately reacted.

[Emergency World Event initiated.]

[The Fall of Voltra.]

[Primary objective: Survive.]

[Secondary objective: Prevent further spread of corruption.]

[Tertiary objective: Preserve the divine blessing.]

Kai blinked.

Preserve what?

The System remained silent.

The figure smiled, "Ah."

Its eyes shone, "So even it has noticed."

Kai’s expression darkened, did he notice his system ? What exactly was this creature.

"Noticed what?"

The figure pointed directly at him, "The blessing."

Then it smiled, "And I believe I shall take it."

The entire chamber erupted into motion.
