Gathering Husbands with a System in a Game Like World [BL]
Chapter 52: One month of needs"Ahh! Go slower!"
Kai’s voice cracked against the headboard as Elias drove into him again, deeper and harder than the last thrust, the inn bed frame slammed against the wall in a steady shameless rhythm, sweat stuck Kai’s dark hair to his forehead, his fingers clawed at the sheets.
Elias only laughed, low and rough, breath hot against the back of Kai’s neck.
"You say that every time we fuck, it’s become a catch phrase"
"I mean it—"
Another hard thrust stole the rest of the sentence, Kai’s arms gave out, his chest hit the mattress, Elias followed him down, one hand pinning Kai’s hip, the other braced beside his head, the pace didn’t slow, if anything it grew meaner, deeper, the wet sound of skin on skin filling the small room.
One month.
It had been one month since Voltra.
One month of roads, cheap inns, random commissions, and this, Elias burying that thick cock inside him more nights than Kai wanted to count, his body had stopped fighting the stretch weeks ago, his mind still hadn’t caught up on the thrill of it all.
He still didn’t know how it started.
One drunken night after a messy job or maybe a messy day he couldn’t quite remember, but he could remember the too much cheap liquor, and then Elias’s mouth on his neck, and the next thing Kai knew he was face-down taking every inch like he had been made for it, and after that the insatiable craving settled in, random, inconvenient and gravely impossible to ignore, some nights he hated himself for needing it, other nights he just spread his legs and let Elias ruin him because no one else fucked like that, Elias was a beast, a perfectionist, he paid attention to every twitch and every broken sound, he knew exactly how deep to go, how hard to grip, when to slow down just enough to make Kai beg for more every single time. He wasn’t lying...he indeed was the better of Dexter, it was an out-of-mind experience every single time and that was the problem.
Elias’s hand slid under him, wrapped around his cock, and stroked in time with every thrust, Kai choked on a moan.
"There," Elias murmured against his ear, "that’s the sound I like, moan for me Kai, you are making me harder."
"Shut—ahh—shut up—"
"Moan for me"
"Ah.."
"Fuck...am there"
Elias bit the side of his neck and came with a low curse, hips stuttering, the heat of it pushed Kai over the edge a second later, he spilled across Elias’s fist and the sheets, thighs shaking.
For a long moment the only sound was their breathing.
Elias pulled out slowly, slapped Kai’s ass once for good measure, and rolled onto his back like he owned the bed.
"Morning."
Kai stayed face-down in the mattress.
"I hate you."
"You say that every time too, if you hate me so much you wouldn’t be letting me fuck you."
Elias said in between breaths with a sly smile, kai flipped him off and groaned.
He finally pushed himself up on shaky arms, the room looked exactly like the last six inns, clothes on the floor, empty water pitcher, one broken chair Elias had thrown someone through three nights ago, his life had become a rotating stage of sex, violence, and Elias’s grin and although Kai knew he could do better and more for himself considering that Caleum could literally house him in the Royal capital. He liked the thrill of his current life. He lived for the mess.
He grabbed the nearest shirt and pulled it over his head.
"Get up. We’re going to the Guild."
Elias stretched, completely unbothered by his own nakedness and cock that was far from flaccid. Kai was almost tempted to remove his clothes and jump on it.
"Come on! Let’s go" he said pulling the pillow from under Elias’s head, Elias groaned.
"Already? You usually need at least ten minutes before you can even walk and you wouldn’t even be walking straight!" Elias teased laughing.
Kai threw a boot at his head, Elias caught it.
While Elias cleaned up, Kai stood in front of a cracked mirror that was in the room and evaluated what looked back at him, the dark hair from Voltra was still very much there, he had never bothered changing it back, the light freckles across his nose and cheeks remained too, they made him look softer than he felt, less like the person who had watched a man die in his arms and more like someone who belonged in ordinary streets, he touched the freckles once, then dropped his hand, there was no point fixing any of it now.

The local Adventurer’s Guild sat on the corner of a busy market street, bigger than the ones in the smaller towns they had passed but nowhere near the scale of Voltra’s, banners hung from the second floor, the board outside already held a crowd of C and B-rank teams arguing over postings and mission territories, Kai pushed through the door with Elias at his shoulder and the familiar noise of boots, steel, and loud conversation washed over them.
He walked straight to the main counter.
The receptionist was a sharp-eyed woman in her thirties with ink stains on her fingers and a crystal reader glowing at her side, she looked up as Kai placed his registration plaque on the wood.
"Name and request."
"kai Valerian. I need to update my rank and open higher-tier commissions."
She slotted the plaque into the reader, light ran across the surface, lines of text scrolled, her eyebrows lifted higher with every new line.
"kai Valerian... Voltra incident participant?"
Kai kept his face neutral.
"Yep, that’s me"
She scrolled further, lips parting slightly.
"You’ve already been processed by central."
"What does that mean?"
She turned the crystal so he could see the glowing mark.
"Honorary A-rank promotion, effective three weeks ago. Verified contributions to the dismantling of a high-level corruption network, survival of an unclassified entity encounter, multiple supporting statements from S-rank and Guild-affiliated parties. The central office pushed it through automatically. No assessment required." she said with a wierd voice that indicated her confliction standing in the presence of an apparent hero.
Kai stared at the rank seal burning on the crystal.
A-rank.
He hadn’t climbed the board. He hadn’t taken the formal trials. Somewhere between Seris’s reports, Caelum’s name, and whatever official account of the underground auction had reached the capital, someone had decided he deserved the jump.
Elias leaned an elbow on the counter, grinning like the entire situation existed for his entertainment.
"Look at that. My partner’s an A-rank now."
"And i didn’t ask for it."
"And yet here we are." Elias tapped the crystal with one finger. "Higher rank, better pay, harder jobs, more people trying to kill us or not... You’re welcome."
"I didn’t do any of that for a promotion."
"I know. That’s what makes it funny."
The receptionist cleared her throat and pulled a fresh plaque from a locked drawer, the new metal already carried the A-rank crest.
"Congratulations. Your updated credentials are active as of this moment. A-rank boards are on the upper floor. Commission payout rates have been adjusted accordingly. Try not to die with the new badge, it makes the paperwork very annoying."
Kai took the plaque. The weight felt different in his hand.
Around them a few nearby adventurers had started listening, whispers moved through the hall, honorary promotions were rare, surviving something the Guild itself had classified as an unclassified entity was rarer, eyes followed them as they turned from the counter.
Elias slung an arm around Kai’s shoulders like they were celebrating.
"We should mark the occasion."
"We’re taking a job."
"I meant after."
Kai shrugged the arm off and headed for the stairs to the upper board, Elias followed, still smiling.

Outside the Guild the afternoon sun felt too bright, Kai walked with the new plaque heavy in his pocket and the pleasant deep ache from the morning still reminding him of every thrust, Elias matched his pace with the easy stride of a man who had gotten exactly what he wanted out of the day.
"So," Elias said, "about that celebration."
Kai kept his eyes on the street.
"What about it."
Elias’s voice dropped into something lower and more serious than usual.
"If you want me to stop looking at other people, you’re going to have to let me fuck you every night."
Kai’s steps slowed.
He already knew the answer that lived in his body even when his mouth wanted to fight it.
"...Well great. I need it too."
Elias’s grin turned sharp and satisfied.
"Good. Then we’re clear."
Kai exhaled through his nose and started walking again, fingers closing around Dexter’s pendant in his pocket, the scratched metal familiar against his skin.
One month on the road had already turned his life into something chaotic, exhausting, and impossible to escape.
Now the Guild had made him A-rank and Elias had made the terms of their arrangement unmistakable.
