“So what you're saying is that you're not sure?” John asked.
“No one ever claimed that knowledge from books was one hundred percent infallible,” Sajiko shrugged before continuing. "For example, the elves almost always grow up in the forest, so their mana has more of a nature feel to it, like when you're sleeping on grass in the middle of a forest."
{Like that guy back there. But he wasn’t an elf.}
"The Draconians, however, have mana that feels more like the sky and freedom of the wind since they spend so much of their time flying around the mountains that are their natural home. "The Dwarfs' mana feels like the rock and stone under which they live, hard, stubborn and steadfast.
Orcs, on the other hand, have mana which feels wild and untamed since they spend most of their time training, fighting and growing stronger. Then there is human mana, which feels dark and foreboding, like they are scheming or plotting something, which is believed to be the reason humans are the only one of the five races that has so far been able to use necromancy."
"Right, Rebecca said that I should pick the necromancer? John said thoughtfully.
“It’s a powerful class,” Sajiko nodded. “And don’t go thinking it’s evil.”
“Evil? Why would I think it’s evil?” John asked in confusion, surprising Sajiko.
“It appears I was mistaken,” Sajiko said with a smile. “Many people associate the necromancer class or the warlock class as evil because the magic they use allows them to summon the undead or demons.
Magic in itself is neither good nor evil; it is the person who wields and uses the magic that determines if it will be good or evil. For example, in the past there have been necromancers who used their powers for good and helped the dead move on to the afterlife, or sent skeletons into a poison swamp to rescue trapped individuals. While there have also been evil clerics or other healers who use their healing powers to prolong the suffering of their victims."
"So, my magic should feel like other humans, dark and foreboding, yes?" John asked. {Can’t say I really like the idea of that.}
"That should be the case, but it's not; this is why I’m confused," Sajiko replied. "Your magic is a strange mixture; it's like a group of different races are jumbled up together. I definitely feel the dark aspect, but it's more dreary than scheming; then I feel the nature of the elves, as if you spent most of your time outside.
There is the Orc's wildness, as if you have been fighting for something most of your life and many more; there is surprisingly even the playful feeling of my Kitsune race.”
"So, you're saying that your life's experiences determine the way your magic feels to others?" John asked.
"That's indeed one way to put it, yes," Sajiko nodded.
There was silence for a moment as John realised that the feeling Mossy got from him made sense if one's past experiences did affect how one's mana felt to others.
"So anyway, kiddo, what are you standing out here for?" Sajiko decided to ask all of a sudden as her tails continued to sway behind her.
{Why has everyone taken to calling me kiddo all of a sudden? Is that a Genesis trend or something?}.
“Err, these two wouldn’t let me in,” John replied as he indicated the two guards.
“I mean, aren't you a little old to begin training?” Sajiko asked as she looked down slightly and stared at his chest.
{It’s like she’s looking inside my body.}
“From what I can tell, you should have arrived four or five months ago,” Sajiko stated as if she had found herself an interesting specimen.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Well, you're not wrong,” John replied. “But some stuff happened that prevented me from log… I mean coming here.”
“Some stuff, huh?” Sajiko replied before she raised her head again and smiled at him. “You’re interesting, kiddo. Tell you what. I was just heading out to gather some herbs, but how about I get you to do it for me as a kind of test?”
“A Test?” John repeated while raising an eyebrow.
“Isn’t that basically what you had a go at us for?” Daniel asked with a frown,
“Really, Sajiko? Pot calling kettle black much.” David added, causing Sajiko to snap her head around and glare at them before saying, “I’m testing him; I’m not having his act as my waiter.”
“Right, err, sorry,” David replied as both brothers quickly backed off.
{They're definitely scared of her, might be an idea to keep my guard up around her.}
“There’s no need to keep your guard up around me, kiddo. I mean you no harm,” Sajiko said sweetly as she turned back to face him.
“Can you read minds?” John asked in shock as he didn’t realise Kitsune could do that.
Sajiko covered her mouth and giggled as her tails swayed around her hypnotically before she said in a sweet voice, “No, I can’t read minds; I’m just experienced at reading faces. It’s sweet you think so highly of me though.”
“Err, sure,” John replied before asking. “So about this test?”
“Here,” Sajiko replied with a wink as she waved her hand.

[Class: Guardian]
[Level: 10]
{Level ten, huh. Well, the description did say ten levels higher. Does that mean Sajiko is a higher level since her level is all question marks?}
"What's wrong, Kiddo? If you keep looking at me like that, I might think you’ve fallen for me,” Sajiko asked in a teasing tone before adding. “Didn’t work, did it.”
"It did on them," John replied as he indicated the two brothers. “But not you.”
"Of course it didn’t; I’m far more powerful than all three of you are after all,” Sajiko replied. “Plus I only taught you the most basic inspect skill as that’s all you should need to complete my little test.”
"I'm afraid I don't really know much about herbs,” John stated. “Am I supposed to just wander around inspecting everything that grows out of the ground till I find the ones you want?"
"Hmm, you have a point, ok here," Sajiko said before pulling a book out of thin air.
{She must have taken it out of her inventory or something.}
"Here you go, kiddo. One 'Encyclopedia of Common Herbs and Where to Find Them,” Sajiko said before handing John the book.
[Item Received: Encyclopedia of Common Herbs and Where to Find Them]
[A book giving a basic introduction to common herbs found out in the world, what they look like and where you can find them]
"Thanks," John said before thinking. {I wonder if I can open my inventory and other panels without speaking as she did.}
{Inventory}
Immediately after thinking it, the inventory window appeared before him just as it had done after he first arrived in Genesis. It still looked the same, with only two tiles filled in for the bread and water.
"Cool, it worked," John said out loud, causing Sajiko to smile as if she knew exactly what he was talking about. John then tried pushing the book into the window and immediately saw it vanish from his hand before appearing in the little tile next to the water.
"You picked that up quickly, kiddo, impressive,” Sajiko said with a smile. “It usually takes most people a lot longer to figure out that they can access their inventory just by thinking about it.”
