Chu Hao said, "The melon-peel system wants to trick me into earning pretentiousness points again. How could a talented, handsome, and elegant young man like me fail to combine the Longevity Curse?"
The system coldly replied, "Based on this system's assessment, your talent is zero from start to finish. To successfully combine with the Longevity Curse, the heavens would have to open their eyes. Additionally! The system has estimated the success rate of you combining with the Longevity Curse to be only twenty percent."
Chu Hao unhappily said, "Why do you look down on me like that? What if I succeed in combining, then what will you do?"
System: "The Longevity Curse isn't suitable for you, and forcing a combination will come at a cost."
Hearing what the system said, Chu Hao was a bit anxious. Is it really that terrifying?
Chu Hao said, "I don't believe it. How could a charming and handsome genius like me not manage to combine with the Longevity Curse? How else will I dominate the Shanhai Realm and marry a hundred beautiful sisters in the future?"
Chu Hao ignored the system's advice; he really intended to try it himself.
All these years, relying on the system, does it mean I have no talent at all?
He took out the Longevity Curse, a red inscription, and opened his heart, treating it as a vessel to merge into his body.
The next moment, the Longevity Curse merged into his body.
"Thump."
Chu Hao's pupils dilated; that was his heartbeat, echoing like a drum.
"It hurts."
Clutching his chest, Chu Hao felt a convulsive pain erupting from his heart.
It was as if his blood vessels were expanding, threatening to burst his entire body, the agony was unbearable.
What's happening? How could combining with the Longevity Curse be so painful, despite his strong constitution?
"Thump."
"Thump."
His heartbeat accelerated, resounding like a big drum, and if anyone were around, they would surely be startled.
How can a person's heart beat this intensely?
An exceptionally potent life energy erupted within Chu Hao, seemingly about to seize his consciousness.
"No, if this continues, I'll die," Chu Hao exclaimed, cold sweat pouring down.
He didn't have time to call the system as his mind became blank, and he fainted.
...
"Blossoms fall, shores wither, pining is bitter, deep love is bitter."
A sorrowful voice appeared.
Who is speaking?
Why is this voice so mournful?
And why does hearing this voice make me want to cry...
Sadness, regret, unwillingness, why do I have these emotions?
Chu Hao desperately tried to open his eyes; he wanted to see the speaker.
Even if it's just a dream.
Even if she's not the real her.
Chu Hao opened his eyes; a gentle breeze brushed his face, a blue sky, with a single white petal landing on his forehead.
"Where is this place?"
Chu Hao removed the petal from his forehead and gazed ahead, towards the roots of a large tree.
The green leaves on the tree had withered, but it was blooming with white flowers like the apricot blossoms of March, petals drifting down with the wind.
"This place is so beautiful," Chu Hao observed his surroundings.
A tranquil place, with lush green grass, flowering trees, and petals scattered everywhere.
"Blossoms fall, shores wither, pining is bitter, deep love is bitter."
The voice appeared again.
Under the big tree ahead stood a woman in red, her long, black hair cascading effortlessly over her fragrant shoulders, reaching her heels.
This was the woman with the longest hair Chu Hao had ever seen.
Wearing a long red robe, her serene yet aloof silhouette exuded a sense of laziness and coldness.
A white silken ribbon tied around her slender waist fell to her heels, and her tall, straight figure emitted an unreachable aura.
Before her was a gravestone, but Chu Hao couldn't see the words on it.
The woman removed a white wine gourd from her waist and poured the crystal-clear wine beside the grave's owner.
Chu Hao couldn't help but say, "Beauty, where is this place?"
The woman didn't answer him, as if she couldn't hear his words.
The woman raised her head, took a long sip of clear wine, wiped her lips, and her voice was filled with sorrow.
"A lifetime is but a dream; even if we meet, you may not recognize me, dust on my face, hair like frost, I'm in the mortal world as you return."
It seems the grave owner was someone extremely important to her, if not a lover, then a relative, so sorrowful.
Chu Hao walked over and said, "Young lady, the dead cannot come back to life, please accept my condolences."
"Can you tell me where this is?"
Chu Hao walked closer, but the woman showed no reaction, her back still facing him.
Doesn't she hear me?
"Hey!"
Chu Hao reached out, trying to pat the woman's shoulder, but his hand passed through her body.
"Damn! What's going on?"
Chu Hao was dumbfounded; his body went right through hers.
Only then did Chu Hao notice that the gravestone had no inscription.
What the...?
Isn't this a grave?
Without the grave owner's name, why are you grieving over it?
Chu Hao stepped forward to look at the woman's face, but what he saw was a mask.
A white mask covered her face.
"Hey, can't you see me?"
Chu Hao waved his hand in front of the woman, but the white-masked woman couldn't see him, showing no reaction.
"Damn it! Can someone explain what's going on?"
Chu Hao was speechless; if this is a dream, hurry up and wake me.
The woman sat cross-legged, continuing to drink, appearing deep in thought about the grave owner.
Chu Hao watched her drink from the side; the jug seemed endless, as if the wine inside wouldn't run out.
Chu Hao was at a loss; he pinched his thigh hard, hoping to wake up from this dream.
But even though his thigh was swollen and red, he was still here.
He called out to the system several times, but there was no response.
Damn it!
Chu Hao was really baffled.
Could the system have crashed?
Helpless, he stood off to the side, murmuring to himself, "Why isn't the grave owner's name written?"
The white-masked woman continued to drink, her feet bare and sparkling like jade.
The strangest thing was that her bare feet touched the ground without a trace of dust, impeccably clean, as if they had never interacted with earthly dirt.
"Such beautiful legs," Chu Hao couldn't help but admire.
No idea how much time passed, but the woman kept drinking without pause, as if she would never stop.
"When will it end?"
Chu Hao lay sprawled on the grass, bored; he couldn't contact the system, and the white-masked woman couldn't see him. So what's the point of staying?
He truly couldn't figure it out.
Finally, the woman stood up, murmuring, "It's time to go, I will avenge my sister, destroying all enemies in the world."
So the grave owner was her sister.
Is it finally time to go?
Does that mean I can leave this dream too?
"Please go, miss. If you could see or hear me, we could chat. I'm so bored I could die," Chu Hao couldn't help but say.
Suddenly, as she was about to leave, the woman turned, her eyes looking in the direction of Chu Hao next to the grave.
Chu Hao felt odd; is she looking at me?
He turned to check behind him, wondering if something was there.
However.
There was nothing.
