Kai thought for a moment before explaining to Chamber.
"Maybe some kind of Gene Weapons, Gene Enhancement Serum, maybe rare cores, enhancement items, or even blueprints on how to build this thing... Oh, now that I think about it, how about the barrier? Do you think we take that technology? Does it have some kind of special materials that produce that Barrier? I just need anything that could give me an edge."
Well, he had an Advanced Barrier Generator, but that thing uses a lot of resources just to activate. Furthermore, it was just one layer of defense.
If possible, Kai wanted to have more of them.
In any case, Chamber finally had an idea of the things he considered treasures.
Chamber hummed for some time, processing the information it had.
[ Understood. Analyzing fortress schematics. Identifying potential caches. ]
Kai waited, his heart pounding with anticipation.
Cornelio might be focused on the obvious loot, but Kai had Chamber... a tool that could see beyond locked doors and hidden compartments.
Moments later, Chamber’s voice returned, listing its findings.
[ Ten potential treasure sites detected. ]
As soon as he heard this, Kai’s eyes lit up.
Still, he controlled his emotions.
Now that the battle was over... All the remaining Survivors would be searching for these treasures!
He had to assume that the others could’ve found these treasures already.
"Tell me more about it," Kai said.
Just like that, the unique A.I., Chamber, showed the information he needed...
[ 1. Neural Trap Storage Bay. Dozens of inactive traps stored for deployment. With modification, they could be repurposed into portable stun devices. ]
[ 2. Explosives Depot. Crates of fragmentation orbs and shockwave charges. They’re defective but salvageable. ]
[ 3. Prototype Weapon Lab. Incomplete plasma rifles and vibro‑edge blades. ]
[ 4. Energy Core Vault. Several B‑grade and C‑grade cores, used to power A.I. Units. ]
[ 5. Gene Skill Crystal Chamber. Small cache of defective but usable crystals, including special variants. ]
[ 6. Adaptive Construct Workshop. Spare modular parts, potentially useful for crafting or upgrading gear. ]
[ 7. Medical Bay for Captured Humans. Tonics, stimulants, and possibly Gene Serums. ]
[ 8. Data Archive. Encrypted files that might contain representations or tactical information. ]
[ 9. Armor Storage. Reinforced armor and gauntlet components.
[ 10. Experimental Node. A sealed chamber with unknown readings. ]
Chamber noted high-energy signatures, possibly dangerous but potentially rewarding.
Kai was getting excited.
That’s... incredible. If we can get even half... No, maybe of that, it’ll be worth more than anything Cornelio’s pulling from those constructs."
[ I can attempt to override the locks once I get closer... However, some doors are reinforced. It will take time. ]
Kai nodded. "Do it. Start with the Neural Trap Storage Bay. Those traps could be turned into portable stun grenades. I’ll need them if I’m going to survive against higher‑tier enemies."
Just like that, Kai followed Chamber’s instruction, and whenever they were blocked by thick metal gates, the pendant would pulse..
[ Beginning override. Estimated time: two minutes. ]
Kai tightened his grip on his lance, scanning the corridor. Cornelio was far enough away that he wouldn’t notice Kai’s secret operation.
For now, this was between him and Chamber.
Weapons, explosives, cores, crystals... This fortress might be a goldmine if I play it right.
Chamber’s voice returned, steady and precise.
[ Override successful. Door unlocked. Proceed with caution. ]
Kai smirked, pushing the door open.
Inside, rows of inactive Neural Traps lined the walls!
He stepped inside, carefully examining them.
"Perfect..." he muttered. "With Chamber’s help, I can reprogram these into portable stun grenades. They’ll be risky, but worth it."
He began collecting the traps, storing them in his inventory.
Neural Trap x99
Neural Trap x99
Neural Trap x99
Just like that, three slots were dedicated to these precious traps, forcing him to remove his bike to free up some space!
Furthermore, he couldn’t even take all the Neural Traps here!
’It’s a pity I can’t just store the whole crate... I guess that would be too good to be true...’ Kai mused.
[ Suggestion: Lock this chamber once again and possibly take the ones left behind at a later date. ]
Although Kai doubted that he would get another chance to get here, he decided to
Kai nodded. "Got it."
As he secured the last trap, Chamber spoke again.
[ Next target: Explosives Depot. Would you like to proceed? ]
Kai’s grin widened. "Absolutely. Let’s strip this place clean before Cornelio realizes what he missed."
***
It didn’t take long before Kai sneakily moved and found the depot...
"Whoa~ This is very well hidden," Kai commented.
The corridor leading to the depot was deceptively ordinary.
To get here, he passed through some rusted panels, sealed doors, and narrow walkways that gave no hint of what lay beyond.
To any survivor, it looked like a dead end... just another section of Citadel‑09 abandoned after the shutdown.
But Chamber’s pulse guided Kai forward!
[ Hidden sub‑layer detected. This section was deliberately masked. Without prior schematics and adaptive bypass protocols, discovery would be impossible. ]
Kai smirked.
’So that’s why Cornelio didn’t even glance this way. He’s strong, but brute force won’t open what you can’t even see. Hehehe...’
The fortress had been designed with layers of deception.
False walls concealed storage bays, while encrypted locks shifted their codes every few minutes. Even if someone tried to brute‑force their way in, the system would probably reroute them endlessly.
Only Chamber, with its archived data and ability to slip past dormant command lines, could reveal these hidden caches.
Kai pressed his hand against the door...
To his eyes, it was just steel. But Chamber highlighted faint handles... It was invisible without its guidance.
[ Beginning override sequence... ]
[ Target: Reinforced Lock / Explosives Depot ]
[ Encryption Layers Detected: 3 ]
[ Adaptive Defense Protocol: Active ]
[ Estimated Time to Completion: 90 seconds ]
[ Stage 1: Circuit bypass initiated... ]
[ Stage 2: Code realignment in progress... ]
[ Stage 3: Final decryption pending... ]
Kai tightened his grip and scanned the shadows.
"Ninety seconds... That’s fast..." He muttered.
Soon, the silence became unnerving, but he trusted Chamber.
Without it, he would have walked past this place a hundred times, never realizing the depot was here.
But then, Kai noticed something!
"Wait, Chamber! Stop!"
