Global Descent: I Alone Can See Hidden Evolution Paths
Chapter 125: Grand Wedding and the Fox Clan’s DesperationThe massive, star-skimming hull of the Aethel-Prime glided silently out of warp, dropping anchor directly above Draconis Prime, the opulent capital world of the Celestial Dragon Empire. Below them, stretching across a continent of floating crystalline spires and golden monuments, was the grand imperial cathedral—a structure so vast it could swallow a mountain range. Today, it was decked out in blinding white silk, floating banners, and millions of holocrystals broadcasting Prince Ignis’s grand wedding across the entire sector.
Inside the Aethel-Prime’s command lounge, Lin Miao nervously paced back and forth across the white-jade floor, her nine fluffy white tails thrashing behind her in a whirlwind of anxiety.
"They’re live-broadcasting it to every star system in the quadrant," Miao stammered, wringing her hands as she stared at the main viewing screen. The crystal-clear feed showed Prince Ignis standing proudly at the altar, wearing a crown of burning gold scales, looking utterly insufferable. "Look at him... he thinks he’s won. And my family... my clan’s elders are sitting right there in the front row, looking like they’re walking to their own execution."
Yoo Ji-a strolled past her, pausing to give Miao’s shoulder a comforting, reassuring squeeze. Her violet eyes flashed with playful amusement. "Relax, little fox. A wedding is supposed to be a joyous occasion, right? We’re just here to provide a little... unexpected crowd participation."
"And by crowd participation, she means complete and utter psychological devastation for the groom," Major General Ye-rin added with a sharp, approving grin, adjusting her combat gauntlets.
Min-jae sat lazily on his central throne-couch, sipping a goblet of divine nectar. He looked completely unbothered, his dark eyes sparkling with quiet amusement. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go ruin the wedding."
With a flick of Min-jae’s wrist, a golden portal of True God teleportation tore open right in the center of the cathedral’s grand aisle.
A blinding flash of golden starlight materialized inside the sacred, vaulted halls of the Draconis Prime Cathedral. The ambient murmurs of ten thousand high-society dragon nobles instantly died down into a suffocating, dead silence.
Out stepped Min-jae, flanked by his ten breathtaking, immortal queens who radiated an aura of terrifying majesty, with Lin Miao stepping out right behind them, her jaw dropping as she looked around the stunned room.
At the altar, Prince Ignis’s jaw hit the floor. The golden-scaled prince pointed a trembling finger forward, his face twisting in rage and absolute shock. "You?! How are you alive?! Where is my executioner dragon?!"
"Stardust," Min-jae replied casually, his voice echoing effortlessly across the massive cathedral without even raising it. "Lizards make terrible room-cleaners, by the way. You really need to hire better security."
Panic erupted instantly among the elite guard. Hundreds of elite dragon warriors drew their plasma-blades and rushed forward, roaring with bloodlust.
Min-jae didn’t even draw a weapon. He merely glanced at them.
[ True God Authority: Absolute Stun.]
A heavy, invisible wave of divine pressure crashed down across the cathedral floor. In less than a microsecond, every single charging guard froze solid, locked in place by a force heavier than a thousand gravity wells, before gently collapsing into harmless heaps of unconsciousness.
The entire assembly of dragon nobles gasped in horror, shrinking back into their velvet pews.
Prince Ignis trembled, his face turning pale green. "Who... what kind of monster are you?!"
"Nobody is going to marry her! She is a cursed outcast!" a sharp, desperate voice echoed from the front row of the pews.
Miao flinched violently. Sitting in the Vip section were the elders of the Fox Clan, shivering in terror. One of the elder councilmen stood up, shaking with a mix of fear and bitter resentment.
"She brought shame to our bloodline! Nobody else in the galaxy would ever take her!" the elder shouted defensively, bowing low toward Prince Ignis’s platform. "We only agreed to this marriage because our clan has fallen so low in status! We are at the mercy of the Dragon Syndicate! Prince Ignis was the only one gracious enough to take her!"
Miao’s eyes welled up with hot tears, her voice cracking as she stepped forward, shaking with pure fury. "Gracious?! He treated me like livestock! He said I was a cursed, useless ornament! I would rather die—yes, I would rather burn in the void than marry a vile reptile like him!"
Prince Ignis sneered, regaining a shred of arrogant composure as he glared at her. "Listen to your elders, you ungrateful beast! You’re a curse on your own bloodline! No one else in the entire universe would ever touch you!"
"Is that right?" a smooth, dangerous voice cut through the air.Min-jae stepped forward, the golden light around him flaring with blinding intensity. He walked right up to the altar, grabbed the official interstellar marriage contract out of Prince Ignis’s shaking hands, and ripped it cleanly down the middle into a hundred fluttering pieces.
"Because I think she looks lovely," Min-jae said lightly, tossing the scraps into the air.
Seeing the absolute, terrifying display of divine power that had just effortlessly humiliated the Dragon Prince and neutralized an army without a single drop of blood, the Fox Clan elders exchanged frantic, desperate glances.
Without a moment’s hesitation, the entire delegation of fox elders scrambled out of their pews and threw themselves flat onto the marble floor, kneeling frantically at Min-jae’s feet.
"My Lord! Divine Savior!" the head elder cried out, pressing his forehead against the cold stone, sweating profusely. "Please! We beg of you! Marry her! Take her as your bride!"
Miao’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief, her face turning crimson with betrayal and embarrassment. "Grandfather! Have you lost your mind?! He is our savior! How can you be so selfish and shameless?! He just saved my life, and you’re trying to push me onto him?!"
"Quiet, girl! You don’t understand!" another elder pleaded, weeping openly. "Our clan is ruined! Without the protection of a powerful syndicate alliance, rival beast-clans will slaughter us down to the last pup! Even if it’s... even if it has to be a fake marriage, please! Only this way can our clan be safe from public humiliation and total destruction! We beg you, Lord Savior, save our bloodline!"
The rest of the fox elders began kowtowing frantically, sobbing and begging for mercy. Miao stood frozen, her heart breaking as she looked at her desperate family, hating how low they had fallen, yet feeling mortified. She looked at Min-jae, her sapphire eyes swimming with tears. "My Lord... you don’t have to listen to them. I didn’t mean to drag you into this..."
Min-jae stood silently for a moment, looking down at the weeping elders, and then turned his gaze toward his ten wives.
Yoo Ji-a walked up beside him, a soft, understanding smile playing on her lips. She glanced over at Miao, and then looked up at Min-jae, her violet eyes gleaming with quiet empathy.
"You know, husband," Ji-a murmured softly, resting her hand lightly on his arm, "she does look rather adorable standing there looking so defensive."
Liu Xiao stepped up on his other side, nodding gently. "And the fox clan is clearly a disaster area that requires some serious executive restructuring. Honestly, adding one more clever, fiery fox to the family roster wouldn’t hurt the household dynamics at all."
"Agreed," Medusa chimed in with a smirk, crossing her arms. "Besides, she already knows how to run from giant dragons. That’s a valuable life skill in our household."
One by one, all ten queens nodded in approval, their expressions filled with warm, welcoming sisterly affection toward the stunned fox girl.
Miao stared at them in utter shock. "W-Wait... you’re all okay with this?! I’m a stray cultivator who just broke into your ship!"
"You’re a brave, petty, wedding-crashing rebel," Seo-yoon corrected with a warm laugh. "And we like your style."
Min-jae looked back down at the kneeling, trembling elders, and then turned his gaze to Miao, a slow, gentle, and utterly confident smile curving his lips. He reached out, taking her small, trembling hand in his large, warm palm, pulling her up gently beside him.
"Well," Min-jae announced, his voice ringing with absolute, sovereign authority across the silent cathedral, "looks like the council has voted again. And since I’m an emperor who believes in stabilizing regional security..."
He looked down into Miao’s wide, tear-filled sapphire eyes, giving her fingers a reassuring squeeze.
"Consider the marriage contract officially upgraded. Welcome to the family, Miao. Your clan is secure."
The cathedral went silent for a microsecond before the Fox Clan elders broke out into loud, ecstatic cheers of relief, while Prince Ignis fainted dead away at the altar. Miao stood frozen, her nine fluffy white tails fluffing up in absolute, joyous disbelief as a brilliant, radiant smile finally broke across her tear-stained face.
