Kandal’s murky vertical pupils paused briefly on the Sea God’s Trident in Feng Tiya’s hands before slowly settling on Fang Heng. "Is this the master who repaired the Sea God’s Trident?"

Feng Tiya nodded slightly and stepped aside in introduction, "That’s right. This is Fang Heng, my friend."

Fang Heng cupped his hands and said, "Greetings, Sea God."

"Hello, human. You are very young."

Kandal’s massive body shifted slightly, causing a deep grinding sound to echo from the depths of the palace. His two vertical pupils studied Fang Heng, carrying a hint of probing intent.

"I once tried to repair the Sea God’s Trident myself. Unfortunately, I was always powerless against the divine corruption within it. In my view, without understanding sacred studies, it is impossible to remove divine corruption without damaging the Trident. Young man, I am curious—what method did you use?"

Fang Heng replied, "Sea God Kandal’s insight is sharp. Your judgment is correct. I do, in fact, specialize in sacred studies."

Kandal’s pupils suddenly contracted. He turned to Feng Tiya and asked, "Sacred studies? Is he connected to the God Clan?"

"Yes," Feng Tiya said solemnly. "To be precise, he has enmity with the God Clan."

Kandal fell silent for two seconds before his murky eyes returned to Fang Heng.

"What kind of enmity?"

"Nothing major," Fang Heng said with a shrug. "I had some conflicts with them and killed a few of their people, so they’ve been relentlessly pursuing me."

Kandal stared at Fang Heng for a long moment, then let out a rough laugh that caused the entire palace walls to hum and tremble.

"Hahaha! Good! Boldness!"

Feng Tiya felt helpless inwardly. She thought to herself that this was hardly something worth boasting about.

Feng Tiya explained, "Uncle Kandal, besides sacred studies, Fang Heng also masters necromancy, so he has drawn the attention of the God Clan and is currently being hunted in retaliation."

"I see."

After laughing, Kandal turned back to Feng Tiya with a heavy tone, as if offering a warning.

"However, Feng Tiya, since you already know this boy has enmity with the God Clan, you still chose to bring him with you. Do you understand what you are doing? If news of this reaches the God Clan, the entire deep sea could be dragged into disaster because of you."

Feng Tiya’s expression changed slightly. Her fingers tightened around the Sea God’s Trident. She said, "Uncle, this is the deep sea. In the past, the God Clan could do nothing to us. Now they still cannot!"

"Hahahaha! Good! That’s the spirit!"

Kandal saw the shadow of her father in her and felt somewhat pleased. Then he raised his voice and looked around the hall, "All irrelevant personnel, leave. I have matters to discuss with Feng Tiya."

"Yes."

The catfish guards and attendants standing on both sides withdrew one after another.

Feng Tiya also nodded slightly to the priests behind her.

"You all leave first. I need to discuss matters with my uncle."

"Yes."

Soon, everyone exited the great hall.

The doors closed.

Only Kandal, Feng Tiya, and Fang Heng remained inside.

Kandal slowly spoke, "You should have already read the letter. This time, the people of Black Castle came to me voluntarily, seeking cooperation to explore the sea abyss region together."

Feng Tiya frowned and asked, "The deep sea abyss has existed for many years. It is sealed with ancient monsters. I don’t understand, what is worth exploring there?"

"They want to find ancient sealing magic arrays and replicate them," Kandal said slowly as his body shifted. Moss on his dark-green scales swayed gently with the water currents.

"In the deepest part of the sea abyss, multiple layers of alchemy magic arrays were left behind in ancient times to suppress deep-sea monsters. But these seals themselves form an extremely complex magical system, including defensive structures. They are very interested in this system and somehow obtained part of the sea abyss map."

"Black Castle told me that if we successfully replicate the magic array, they are willing to share the results."

"I am also interested in the magic array beneath the sea abyss, so I agreed and sent people to go with them."

Fang Heng thought silently.

From Kandal’s words, Black Castle had likely obtained part of the sea abyss map in advance and entered the deep sea, specifically targeting the abyssal magic arrays.

Was this guided by the game’s mission?

Fang Heng asked, "Something went wrong later?"

"Yes." Kandal’s voice lowered further. "I sent an elite force from the Sea of Nature to accompany Black Castle’s people into the abyss region."

"At first, progress was smooth. According to the map, we indeed reached the core area of the sealing magic array. However, while investigating the ancient array, its defensive mechanism was triggered for unknown reasons."

"The energy in the abyss fluctuated violently, and the internal space began to tremble intensely. Some of my people retreated immediately, but the Black Castle members and several elites from the Sea of Nature were trapped deep inside the abyss."

Fang Heng took a deep breath and asked, "Are they still alive?"

"Yes," Kandal nodded. "Their luck is good. The sealing magic array formed a relatively stable spatial barrier. They are not in immediate danger, but the spatial turbulence continues to intensify. I fear the barrier will eventually be completely consumed."

"I have already sent three rescue teams, but all have failed. Because of the triggered magic array, spatial currents in the abyss have become extremely active, and the ancient abyssal beasts that were dormant have all awakened. They are extremely difficult to deal with. Only one team managed to confirm the situation of the trapped personnel deep inside, but we have little understanding of alchemy, and we still cannot break the unstable spatial barrier."

Fang Heng nodded slightly as he listened.

The situation was largely consistent with the letter.

But one question remained.

"Senior Kandal," Fang Heng said, cupping his hands, "You sent all irrelevant personnel away. Is there something else you wish to tell us?"

"Correct."

Kandal’s vertical pupils narrowed slightly and said in a low voice, "This matter is actually related to the God Clan."

Fang Heng’s heart skipped a beat.

He already vaguely sensed it.

From the moment he received the letter, Kandal had been probing their attitude toward the God Clan.

"What happened back then is well known. We lost the war against the God Clan. We reached an agreement, dividing land and sea, and neither side would spread faith into the other’s territory."

Kandal’s voice grew deeper as he looked at Feng Tiya and spoke, "As time passed, that boundary has been tested repeatedly. I know the nature of the God Clan. They will never be satisfied with just the land. As I expected, starting from your father’s generation, the God Clan has once again begun to lay plans for the Underwater World."
