"Him?"

Lin Yu had some impression of the man. He had enthusiastically answered his questions back then and later joined the small group chat. Lin Yu had seen him post a few times.

"Who?"

Li Hua, on the other hand, had no impression of the man and didn’t understand why he would be causing trouble for them.

"A rich second-generation type. I remember during the Eye Demon invasion, he was the first in the group chat to complete an Eye Demon parasite experiment. He was also the one who warned us that the Eye Demons would control their hosts after infestation," Lin Yu explained to Li Hua.

"Are you saying Opal conducted experiments with Eye Demon parasites?"

"That’s right! He was the first lord in our group to issue a formal warning."

"Why are you so nervous? It’s not some big secret, is it?" Li Hua asked strangely, looking at Lin Yu’s slightly tense expression.

"Not really. But you also know this is the Tree-man’s ability, not mine. It’s impossible to bring a territory unit here right now, so there’s nothing I can do."

As the three of them reached the outside of the monitoring room, they heard Vincent’s despairing voice. "Why? Why? Why would he send people to attack the base?"

Walking into the monitoring room, they saw a squad of human soldiers on the large screen, continuously killing Lizard-men. From their neat uniforms and the insignia on their clothes, it was clear they belonged to the same faction.

Judging by Vincent’s expression, he recognized the insignia. And from his reaction, it was obvious they were Opal Hass’s subordinates.

"My lord, we’ve spotted police from the precinct entering the mine. They’re heading toward the base," another piece of bad news arrived.

"Then what are you all standing around for? Close the passage!"

"But, my lord, they’ve broken the passage!" The newcomer pointed at the squad currently wreaking havoc on the screen.

"Damn it, Opal is too heartless! Not only is he attacking the base, he even called the police to shut it down completely?"

"Didn’t I tell him I’d handle catching the wanted fugitive and that he didn’t need to interfere?"

Vincent was flustered and exasperated. Aside from the successful trade for a Cultivation Manual, not a single thing had gone right for the base today. Everything was spiraling toward the worst-case scenario.

Lin Yu watched the police on the screen and had only one thought— ’The precinct is way too slow. If something had really happened to me, with a response time like this, they’d only show up in time to collect my body.’

"I’ll take some men to stop those soldiers! You, take some men and do everything you can to repair the passage gate! We absolutely cannot let the police find the base!"

Vincent took a deep breath and charged out of the monitoring room with his men. The other Lizard-men, understanding the urgency of the situation, all grabbed tools and parts and headed for the nearest damaged passage gate.

The trio of Lin Yu, Li Hua, and Li Xintong followed as well. As they walked, their figures vanished from sight—Lin Yu had used his Invisibility Technique.
