[ Grim Siphoning Edge ]

Level: 10

Type: Passive.

Effect:

—> If your blade cuts through something containing magic power, you siphon 60% of the magic power it contains, recovering your MP accordingly. If MP is already full, the excess converts instead into a temporary Attack boost, scaling with the amount siphoned, lasting 10 seconds.

Logan felt the upgrade settle into place immediately, a faint hum of readiness threading through every future cut before he’d even swung once.

’Perfect. Now nothing goes to waste.’

He split his own Mythic fleet into hunting pairs again, the same formation that had worked well enough the first time, and sent them out across the eighty-seven scattered signatures while he took point on the closest cluster heading straight for the Hive.

The first one didn’t even see him coming, a lone Mothership cutting a straight line for the Hive’s outer edge, engines burning hot enough that whoever piloted it clearly cared more about speed than caution.

Reaper’s Stride!

He landed on the deck before the ship’s own sensors finished registering the intrusion, and the player standing there spun around with a yelp that had more surprise in it than actual fear.

"Oh, come on!" The man threw both hands up, some kind of dagger clattering to the deck without him even seeming to notice he’d dropped it. "I wasn’t even doing anything! Just trying to get some loot before everyone else does!"

"Wrong day, wrong game, wrong timing, wrong luck." Logan smiled.

The man didn’t need telling twice.

’SURRENDER!’

He vanished from the deck a heartbeat later, and Logan didn’t even need to swing once.

The second target took a bit more effort, two Motherships flying in tight formation, allied players covering each other’s blind spots with a screen of Rare-rank Spacecraft stretched between both hulls.

"Incoming!" One of them caught sight of the approaching signature fast enough to actually do something about it, spinning his own ship hard to bring its weapons to bear.

A volley of concentrated fire lanced out toward Logan’s approaching form, and he answered it the same way he’d answered everything else today.

Blade Veil Counter!

The veil caught the whole spread in the same instant, and the counter’s damage boost carried straight into Reaper’s Stride’s next blink, closing the last of the distance before either player had time to reload.

He landed on the first ship’s deck, and the pilot barely got a word out.

"Grab the-" His voice cut off hard the moment Logan actually landed in front of him.

"Little late for that." Logan’s grin came easy.

The man’s hands went up immediately. "Surrender! I surrender, just don’t-"

’SURRENDER!’

He vanished mid-plea, and Reaper’s Stride carried Logan straight onto the second ship before its pilot had even finished processing what had just happened to his ally. The man looked between the empty space where his partner’s ship had been and Logan’s own blade with an expression that had already given up before his mouth caught up to it.

’SURRENDER!’

’People really try to match up in single-player games.’ Logan rolled his eyes. They should just play the 2-player games instead of trying to match-make in a single-player game together in hopes of entering together. Naturally, the game didn’t care because players could team up inside regardless of whether they knew each other beforehand.

Logan moved. The third one tried something different entirely.

"Wait! Wait, before you do anything." The woman standing on this deck held both hands out, palms open, not a weapon in sight. "I’ve got information. Real information, about the other players still headed this way. I’ll trade it for my life, Leon Flanke."

Logan paused, actually considering it. Information had value. "Go on, then."

"There’s a coalition forming near the Hive’s north face. Bigger than the last one that came after you. I don’t know exact numbers, but it’s more than twenty ships this time."

Logan’s eyebrows rose slightly. He had figured something like that might happen.

Because after he destroyed the previous alliance of players, he had seen other players at some distance, easily over twenty of them, who were heading towards the Hive cautiously, watching everything. Some players also must have used the scanner to get a sense of the situation.

"Thanks for the info. Doesn’t change anything for you, though."

Her shoulders dropped. "Yeah. Figured as much. Good thing I entered empty-handed in this match."

’SURRENDER!’

The rest of the stretch that followed went the same general direction. Some players ran and got caught anyway. Some fought back with just enough conviction to make Logan actually draw his blade before it ended. A few surrendered the second his name showed up on their own scanners, apparently having already heard what happened to the last coalition that tried anything.

Logan looked out at the remaining scattered signatures, thirty-four down, more than fifty still left drifting across the field in various states of conflict or flight.

But players had naturally still entered the Hive. If not on this side, then others.

"A bigger coalition, huh." He rolled his shoulders once, grinning at the thought. "I want to enter the Hive, but I don’t want to miss the party prepared just for me."

"Sounds fun, boss."

"A bunch of weaklings banding together can’t stop us." Solveig nodded.

"Indeed. And strong ones don’t want to band together, so we can also hunt them." Logan chuckled. "We’ll find them in the Hive. I’m sure many already entered the hive. We shouldn’t take too long out here."

Technically, Logan’s X-rank talent made him like a boss among the players, heralding an army of Mythic-rank that could overpower players.

The only way to defeat him was to snipe him and go for him at the quickest and decisive pace to eliminate him, but only players with Mythic-rank specs had that chance.

"Master, your sword is weak in this game. You need to change it, right?" Synthia arrived next to him with a mysterious smile on her face.

Logan looked at Grimlord’s Blade.

It had stats and skills of a Tier-1 Mythic-rank weapon.

Skills were still fine, but stats were low indeed. It was only because of the boost from his Tier-4 Mythic-rank gear set and his strong class skills that he had more than enough power to deal with dangers in this floor 4 game.

"Yeah, I can make do with a new weapon for my Grimlord’s Blade." Logan looked at her and blinked. "It seems you got something for me."

"Yes. Some players you raided had suitable loot for a Tier-4 Legendary-rank sword, so I crafted it."

Synthia showed a black cube with neon blue and red patterns.

It pulsed once and then started transforming, nano machinery extending and forming into a badass straight one-edged blade with eccentric patterns of blue and crimson woven together.
