Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Escape

As Bena and the others made their swift escape, the members of the Blood Saber Gang were inside the factory, tensely awaiting Blood Saber’s next command.

Blood Saber stood at a high vantage point, his gaze sharp as he scanned the surroundings for any movement. His intuition told him the enemy wouldn’t give up so easily.

The other members had also taken up advantageous defensive positions, waiting for a potential attack.

The hostages Bena had freed, after fumbling around for a while, managed to find their own ways to climb the walls and escape the abandoned factory.

Time ticked by, second by second. Besides the fires burning all around, there was nothing else out of the ordinary in the factory’s vicinity.

Blood Saber’s brow furrowed deeper and deeper. He began to doubt his own judgment. ’Did they really just want to create chaos, with no other objective?’

Just then, the gang member responsible for relieving the warehouse guard ran over to Blood Saber in a panic.

"Boss, it’s bad! Zhang Biao’s been killed!"

"All the fat sheep in the warehouse are gone!"

Blood Saber’s expression instantly turned grim. A vicious glint flashed in his eyes as he roared:

"What?!"

His voice echoed through the factory building, making the surrounding gang members shiver involuntarily.

Blood Saber grabbed the messenger by the collar, lifted him up, and demanded furiously, "Explain yourself! What the hell happened?!"

The gang member, terrified by Blood Saber’s imposing aura, stammered in reply:

"I... we went to the warehouse to change the guard and found... we found Zhang Biao dead, and all the fat sheep were gone!"

The messenger’s voice trembled; he was clearly scared out of his wits. Blood Saber took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his rage and shock. He knew this was no time to panic.

"Let’s go. Take me there!" Blood Saber said in a low voice, striding toward the warehouse.

When Blood Saber arrived at the warehouse, he saw its doors wide open. The hostages who had been held inside had vanished without a trace. Only a single corpse lay on the ground—it was Zhang Biao, the guard who had been on duty.

Blood Saber walked over and examined Zhang Biao’s body. He found the fatal wound on his throat—clearly a single, deadly blow.

A dark look flickered in Blood Saber’s eyes. He could sense that his opponent’s strength was not to be underestimated. ’To eliminate Zhang Biao so quietly and take all the hostages... this is definitely not the work of an ordinary person.’

"Boss, what do we do now?" a gang member asked cautiously.

Blood Saber fell silent.

Just moments ago, he had been so sure that Simon’s escape would have no consequences. Now, he’d been proven wrong in the most humiliating way.

"Search! Search for them!" Blood Saber roared. "Even if you have to turn this whole wasteland upside down, you will find those people for me!"

The gang members immediately sprang into action, beginning their search of the factory. But Blood Saber knew they were probably too late.

’Since they already rescued the hostages, they must have fled the area by now.’

Standing inside the warehouse, Blood Saber stared at the empty cages, rage and resentment burning within him like a wildfire.

He swore an oath to find the enemies who dared to challenge the authority of the Blood Saber Gang and make them pay in blood.

Just as the Blood Saber Gang realized something was wrong, Bena’s group was already on their motorcycles, speeding away from the abandoned factory with Xisuo and Simon.

Bena and Zhou Mei were each driving a motorcycle, with Xisuo and Simon riding on the back seats.

Lanton and Zhou Yiming were on two other motorcycles, while the three bionics drove the remaining ones.

Six motorcycles sped through the night, following a pre-planned route as they fled into the distance.

The route Bena’s group chose was very clever. They didn’t head directly for the shelter. Instead, they first went in the opposite direction to mislead any potential pursuers.

After riding for some time, once they were certain they had successfully shaken off the Blood Saber Gang, they began to slowly change course and head for the shelter.

The members of the Blood Saber Gang conducted a thorough search of the factory, but aside from some broken chains and evidence of a few escaped hostages, they found no valuable clues.

Blood Saber stood inside the warehouse, staring at the empty cages, his eyes flashing with anger and resentment.

"Boss, we’ve searched the entire factory. There’s no sign of them."

A gang member reported in a low voice as he approached Blood Saber’s side.

A vicious glint flashed in Blood Saber’s eyes, and his voice carried a bone-chilling killing intent:

"They can’t have gotten far! Go after them! I don’t care if you have to dig three feet into the ground, find them!"

The gang members immediately sprang into action, beginning to search the area around the factory.

But Bena’s group, with Xisuo and Simon in tow, was already speeding away from the abandoned factory on their motorcycles.

Although the members of the Blood Saber Gang were vicious, they lacked professional tracking equipment. Trying to find Bena’s group in this vast wasteland was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Besides, the motorcycles Bena’s group was riding were extremely fast, and they soon left the members of the Blood Saber Gang far behind.

After riding for some time, Bena’s group was far from the abandoned factory, and they confirmed there were no pursuers behind them.

Bena had the convoy pull over for a moment.

"We’ve successfully shaken off the Blood Saber Gang. We can slow down and take a break."

"Yiming, hurry and treat Xisuo and Simon."

Xisuo and Simon got off the motorcycles, their faces showing signs of exhaustion.

Xisuo looked at Bena and Zhou Mei, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes:

"We really owe you for this. If you hadn’t arrived when you did, we might have..."

Simon also nodded. He looked at Bena, his eyes full of gratitude. "Captain Bena, thank you!"

Bena smiled faintly.

"Don’t say that. Since we came for you, we were always going to do everything in our power to get you out."

Zhou Mei patted Simon’s shoulder as well.

"Don’t worry, we’re out now. Those bastards can’t catch us."

Lanton began inspecting the motorcycles, making sure they were good to keep going.

Zhou Yiming had already extended his green Healing Touch from both hands, and several green tentacles gently moved over Xisuo and Simon’s bodies.

Meanwhile, Zhou Mei started using healing items to treat their injuries, further speeding up their recovery.

The three bionics stood quietly to the side, awaiting their next orders.

...

Meanwhile, the members of the Blood Saber Gang were still searching the area around the abandoned factory.

But no matter how hard they looked, they couldn’t find any trace of Bena’s group.

Blood Saber stood at the factory’s highest vantage point, his eyes flashing with anger and resentment.

He knew that this time, the Blood Saber Gang had been utterly humiliated.

Having hostages rescued from right under their noses was, without a doubt, a great disgrace for the Blood Saber Gang.

Blood Saber swore a silent oath. He would find the enemies who dared to challenge the authority of the Blood Saber Gang and make them pay a bloody price.
