Chapter 186: Chapter 181: Assistance 2
Any other leader would have gone bankrupt. Even though he was slightly stronger than the average leader, this kind of expenditure would be a devastating blow.
However, the enemy was simply too strong. If he didn’t make a significant sacrifice, he probably wouldn’t make it through this.
Adam’s additional information made Ye Yun reconsider. He felt Adam’s proposal was reasonable, but he wanted to see what the others thought.
Seman was the first to reply:
Adam’s offer is fairly sincere this time. I can lend a hand.
Sima Yue also replied:
There may be a lot of enemies, but if we team up, we should be able to handle them.
However, I suggest we prepare our own defenses while we’re helping Adam.
This will prevent any accomplices from taking the opportunity to attack our own shelters while we’re busy.
Lei Hu also stated his position:
I agree with Sima Yue. We need to rescue Adam while also guarding against other potential threats.
Adam, as long as you can cover the cost of the Teleportation Gate, I’ll help.
Ye Yun didn’t reply right away. Instead, he opened his communication wristband and entered a new task.
Assessment Type: Cooperative Defense Mission
Assessing mission risk...
Assessment: 34% chance of White items, 43.5% chance of Green items, 21.495% chance of Blue items, 1.005% chance of Purple items. Risk Factor: 1.024%
* * *
Seeing the risk factor was only just over 1%, Ye Yun set aside his concerns.
Seeing that everyone else had stated their position, he also replied:
Adam, I accept your terms. I’ll send Bena with a team to support you.
But I also hope everyone else prepares their defenses to avoid a sneak attack.
Adam’s heart leaped with joy when he saw their replies. He knew he was finally saved.
Thank you all. I, Adam, am eternally grateful.
As long as we can drive back these raiders, I’m willing to cover all the costs and provide a generous reward for everyone.
Once the crisis at my shelter is over, I’ll visit each of you personally to express my thanks.
Ye Yun and the others replied in turn, confirming they would send reinforcements as soon as possible.
Although the immediate crisis at Adam’s shelter had been eased, Ye Yun and the others didn’t dare let their guard down.
They knew that in this wasteland, danger was ever-present. The slightest mistake could lead to utter ruin.
Ye Yun immediately summoned Bena and ordered him to lead a team to reinforce Adam.
Upon receiving Ye Yun’s command, Bena immediately began preparations for their departure.
He selected a few of his most capable team members—including Zhou Mei, Hawke, Neil, and Zhou Yiming—to travel with him to Adam’s Shelter.
Meanwhile, Ye Yun had the remaining members heighten their alert status to prevent a sneak attack.
Under Bena’s leadership, the team quickly embarked on their journey to Adam’s Shelter.
Once the Teleportation Gate was confirmed, a glowing blue portal appeared inside the shelter.
Bena immediately led his team through the Teleportation Gate, arriving at Adam’s Shelter.
Upon arriving at Adam’s Shelter, Bena and his team immediately contacted Adam.
Adam told Bena the raiders were now less than 30 kilometers away from his shelter and would likely arrive before long.
He urged Bena and his team to prepare as quickly as possible to help him fend off the raiders’ assault.
Bena immediately put everyone on combat alert. They set up defensive fortifications around the shelter’s perimeter.
He also had Neil and Lin Hao get their mutated creatures ready for battle.
After Bena’s team arrived, other members of the alliance began to arrive at Adam’s shelter in succession.
In just a single hour, thanks to their preparations, Adam’s shelter was transformed into a formidable fortress.
They waited in silence for the raiders’ arrival.
Before long, the raiders’ forces appeared on the horizon.
The raiders were numerous and well-equipped; a single glance was enough to tell they wouldn’t be easy to deal with.
However, when the raider leader saw that Bena’s group was already prepared for them, he sensed this would be more difficult than expected.
He hadn’t expected Adam’s Shelter to have such powerful reinforcements.
Still, a prize this tempting wasn’t something he could just walk away from.
The raider leader weighed the pros and cons, but ultimately decided to attack.
He refused to believe that their small group could withstand an assault from his force of over sixty men.
At the raider leader’s command, the raiders began their charge on the shelter.
But once the assault truly began, they discovered things weren’t as simple as they had imagined.
The defensive fortifications Bena’s team had erected were incredibly solid; the raiders’ attacks couldn’t break through their lines at all.
Furthermore, the mutated creatures controlled by Neil and Lin Hao were causing immense trouble for the raiders.
These mutated creatures were tough, with thick hides and powerful attacks. The average raider was no match for them.
Bena’s group repelled the raiders’ attacks time and time again.
The raider leader’s expression grew darker and darker. He never imagined his opponents would be this strong.
He began to regret his recklessness in not scouting their strength beforehand.
But it was too late for regrets. They were already engaged in combat, and there was no time to retreat.
The raider leader could only grit his teeth and order his men to press the attack with even greater ferocity.
But no matter how hard they tried, they could not breach the defensive line held by Bena’s team.
As time wore on, the raiders’ casualties mounted, while Bena’s group suffered minimal losses.
The raider leader knew that if this war of attrition continued, they were doomed.
Gritting his teeth, he decided to join the battle himself, leading three espers in a final charge.
However, just as the raider leader personally joined the fray, Bena’s team played their ace in the hole.
The alpha mutated boar controlled by Lin Hao charged straight at the raider leader, sending him flying before pinning him firmly underfoot.
Meanwhile, Neil’s mutated leopard dispatched the other espers.
With their leader and espers gone, the remaining raiders descended into chaos.
They scattered and fled, but Bena’s forces hunted them down and killed them one by one.
The battle lasted less than an hour, by which time the entire raider force had been annihilated.
Bena’s team had achieved a decisive victory.
With the crisis averted, an emotional Adam gripped Bena’s hand, thanking him profusely.
"Bena, my friend, I owe you everything for this. I would have been a goner otherwise."
Bena clapped Adam on the shoulder. "We’re all brothers in this alliance. Helping each other is what we do."
Adam nodded gratefully. He immediately made good on his promise, paying for the Teleportation Gate and handing over all the spoils of war to Bena’s team.
Bena didn’t stand on ceremony and accepted the loot.
Although supporting Adam had involved some risk, the rewards had been substantial.
After bidding Adam farewell, Bena and his team immediately returned to their own shelter.
On the way back, Bena gave a brief summary of the operation.
"The operation to support Adam went very smoothly. Everyone’s performance was outstanding."
"We not only successfully drove back the raiders but also reaped a great deal of loot."
"However, we can’t let this victory make us complacent."
"Danger is everywhere in this wasteland. We must always stay vigilant and constantly work to improve our strength."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They were all experienced Warriors who knew survival in this wasteland wasn’t easy.
Bena glanced back at Lin Hao and Munich. Their performance had been excellent and had played a crucial role in their victory.
"Lin Hao, Munich, you two performed very well."
"The mutated creatures under your control were instrumental."
Hearing Bena’s praise, Lin Hao and Munich were secretly pleased. "You’re too kind, Sir Bena. We were just doing our duty."
