Chapter 215: Chapter 196: Power Supply Room
Bena nodded. He took a deep breath, then pushed open the heavy doors to the power supply room.
Behind the doors was a spacious room filled with all sorts of complex equipment and instruments. Rows of display screens and control panels lined the walls.
However, to Bena and Lin Hao’s astonishment, some of the equipment in the core area of the power supply room was still running!
Green lights blinked on some of the display screens, and indicator lights on the control panels flashed incessantly.
"The equipment in here is actually still running!" Bena exclaimed in surprise.
Lin Hao was also in a state of shock. "This... How is this possible? It’s been hundreds of years. How can this equipment still be functioning properly?"
They all looked completely dumbfounded. After all, it had been several hundred years since the Great Cataclysm.
And yet, inside this long-abandoned facility, there was still equipment running normally???
The sheer absurdity of it shattered their worldview.
But a moment later, Bena’s expression turned serious.
"Everyone, be careful. If there’s still equipment running, the defense systems might not be completely destroyed."
Bena’s reminder made everyone immediately shed their surprise, and they all grew tense.
Anyone with even a passing knowledge of pre-Cataclysm technology held it in awe.
After all, the technology of that era was vastly different from today’s. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them two different worlds.
Many of the powerful weapons in the wasteland now were relics left over from that time.
If the defense systems from that era were truly intact, they, as unauthorized intruders, would likely face a devastating counterattack.
Their strength was certainly impressive, but against a high-tech defense system, it paled in comparison.
Bena and Lin Hao exchanged a glance, each seeing the caution in the other’s eyes.
Bena said in a low voice, "Lin Hao, be careful. See if you can find the control panel and try to shut down this equipment."
Lin Hao nodded and began to work at the console.
Meanwhile, Bena carefully scanned their surroundings, searching for any potential defense systems.
They knew a place like this must have been an important facility before the Great Cataclysm, and its corresponding defensive measures would have been comprehensive.
Even though hundreds of years had passed, there was no way to know if those defenses were still active.
Bena and Lin Hao cautiously explored the core area of the power supply room.
They watched their surroundings vigilantly, ready to respond to any potential danger.
However, as they continued their exploration, they found no trace of any defense systems.
Aside from the few pieces of functioning equipment, there was nothing else unusual in the core area of the power supply room.
Bena and Lin Hao exchanged a look, each seeing the confusion in the other’s eyes.
"Could the defense systems here be broken?" Lin Hao asked uncertainly.
Bena frowned. "I’m not sure. Maybe the defenses are well-hidden, or maybe they aren’t heavily reliant on the main power system."
"Lin Hao, do you know anything about this equipment?" Bena asked in a low voice.
Lin Hao shook his head. "My research is only in ancient texts. I’ve never seen most of this equipment before."
If Lin Hao were truly from one of the academies, he might have some knowledge of this equipment. But he was self-taught and really didn’t know much about ancient technology.
Besides, this was all specialized equipment; messing with it randomly could cause even bigger problems.
Bena nodded. He knew he couldn’t ask too much of Lin Hao. After all, in this day and age, just being able to read ancient texts was an incredibly rare skill.
"Everyone, be careful. Let’s move forward slowly," Bena commanded.
The group slowed their pace, advancing cautiously through the power supply room. Their eyes swept over the various pieces of equipment and instruments, searching for any possible clues.
Suddenly, Lin Hao’s gaze was drawn to a display screen flashing with a red light.
He walked over to it and carefully examined the information on the screen.
"Warning: Insufficient energy. Warning: Insufficient energy."
"Low power mode active. Maintenance personnel, please replenish with new energy blocks promptly."
"Low power...""
The screen repeated these two messages endlessly, while the energy indicator bar below was nearing empty.
Lin Hao’s eyes narrowed. It seemed that even if the technology before the Great Cataclysm was incredibly advanced, after several hundred years, this equipment had finally reached its limit.
He looked at the surrounding equipment and immediately realized that although their indicator lights were on, it was unclear if they were actually still running.
"Captain Bena, this screen says that while the equipment here is still running, its energy is low."
Lin Hao said gravely, "We need to find a way to replenish the energy source quickly, or this equipment will soon shut down."
Bena nodded, his gaze sweeping across the power supply room in search of a possible refueling unit.
"Everyone, look around. See if you can find any refueling units or energy blocks."
Lin Hao immediately wrote the two words for "energy block" in a small notebook, then showed it to the others so they could search for the matching ancient text.
After all, he was the only one there who could understand the writing from before the Great Cataclysm.
Bena gave the order. The team members immediately split up and began to search the power supply room carefully.
Bena and Lin Hao also joined the search, vigilantly watching their surroundings, ready to respond to any potential danger.
