Chapter 239: Chapter 208: Important Progress
Amy and her teammates made their way through the ruins, wary of any potential dangers lurking within.
Their footsteps echoed in the empty corridor, accompanied by the occasional clang of metal.
"Everyone, be careful. There might be traps here," Bena warned.
They arrived at what looked like a research area. Dilapidated experimental equipment was scattered on the ground. Bena noticed some strange markings and crouched down to get a closer look.
"Looks like they were doing some secret research here," Bena said, pointing at the markings.
Amy walked over, her eyes glinting with curiosity in the dim light. "These markings might be identifiers for some kind of experiment. Maybe we can find some useful information."
The team began to search the research area, scouring every spot that might contain files.
Soon after, a team member discovered some worn-out documents under a pile of rubble.
"Captain, come take a look at this," he said, beckoning Bena over.
Bena took the documents, his eyes quickly scanning the text. "These are experiment logs. They might contain important information."
Amy leaned in for a look. "We have to bring these back. They could be a huge help to the shelter’s research efforts."
Bena nodded. "Alright, let’s keep searching. See if we can find anything else of value."
Over the next few hours, the team discovered more files and some discarded equipment inside the abandoned shelter.
Although most of the equipment was damaged, some of its parts could still be salvaged.
"We found some useful supplies," Bena reported over the communicator. "It’s not much, but these files and equipment parts are very valuable to us."
Amy added, "We didn’t find any other dangers. This place seems to have been abandoned for a long time."
Bena gave the order to retreat. "Alright, mission complete. Everyone, head back the way we came. Stay safe."
The team began an orderly withdrawal. Carrying the files and supplies they had found, they started the journey back to their own shelter.
Inside the shelter, Ye Yun and the other members were awaiting news from them. When Bena’s team returned safely with their valuable finds, the atmosphere in the shelter grew animated.
"You’ve all done well," Ye Yun said to Bena. "These files and materials will be a great help to our research and construction."
Bena smiled in response. "It was a team effort. The future of the shelter depends on everyone’s contributions."
Ye Yun nodded, his gaze sweeping over everyone present. "We will keep moving forward. No matter what difficulties we face, we will overcome them together."
With the completion of the mission, the shelter’s capabilities were further enhanced. Ye Yun opened the system interface to check the latest stats.
Occupied Space: 20
Available Space: 0
Food Reserves: 450/300
Fresh Water Reserves: 450/300
Power Reserves: 650/500
Medicine: 45/100
Construction Bots: 6/6
Advanced Bioroids: 2/2
Bioroids: 5/5
Normal Humans: 22/20
Ye Yun noticed that the shelter’s occupied space had once again reached its limit. Although they had just completed an expansion, the addition of new residents and facilities meant space was tight again.
He knew they needed to find a solution to ensure the shelter’s continued growth. At the same time, he was pondering how to best use the newly acquired files and materials.
At Ye Yun’s direction, the shelter’s R&D team began an in-depth study of the files Bena’s team had brought back. They hoped to extract new technologies and knowledge to advance the shelter’s tech level.
Meanwhile, Lin Hao and Neil were analyzing the collected materials from mutated creatures. They hoped to find the creatures’ weaknesses and figure out how to use the materials to bolster the shelter’s capabilities.
In every corner of the shelter, people were working toward a common goal. They knew that only by standing united could they survive in this challenging world.
Outside the shelter, the wasteland remained a world filled with danger and uncertainty. But Ye Yun and his people were ready. Whatever difficulties the future held, they would face them bravely, bound by their shared conviction and purpose.
They believed that as long as they stood united and worked together, the shelter’s future would be bright. And they, in turn, would become the builders and Guardians of this new world.
Over the next few days, the shelter’s R&D team made a major breakthrough. They successfully extracted useful compounds from the mutated creature materials—compounds that could be used to create more effective medicines and weapons.
Meanwhile, the files Bena’s team had brought back were sorted and categorized. Researchers uncovered new designs for energy technology and defense systems. These designs held the promise of improving the shelter’s energy efficiency and defensive capabilities.
