Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 811: Gradually Diving DeeperIt took some time, but Lin Ye recorded the entire structure of that instrument. This technique would very likely become an important attack method for him in the mental world later on.
Lin Ye carried the bottle back to the flesh-and-blood courtyard and lay down inside the coffin.
The lid closed, and the outside world changed again.
This time the external flesh ruins transformed into a ruined wasteland. The courtyard’s sea of flowers had withered, and only the bone-white coffin showed no change.
Lin Ye pushed open the lid and crawled out of the coffin. There was a fissure at the top of the ruins leading to the outside. Through the crack he could see the dazzling glowing sphere in the sky.
‘This place seems to have appeared during the conversation with Number 53 sea creatures.’
A flying fat pig appeared at Lin Ye’s feet and led him through the fissure out of the ruins.
Outside was a parched land, and ten glowing spheres were scattered irregularly across the sky.
There were no living things nearby. The air was twisted and deformed, and white vapors rose from the ground.
Using his Special Ability, Lin Ye could sense that there was simply no safe place here.
That lethal sense of danger almost disrupted his relaxed state.
Lin Ye followed the hint from the conversation to search for the target location. Before long, he found a bag of soil in the hand of a dried skeleton.
The soil inside still retained some moisture.
Lin Ye poured the soil into the bottle. While he was searching for the soil, the liquid inside the bottle noticeably decreased.
The flower bud on the glowing weed had grown a little, but it still showed no sign of blooming.
Lin Ye carried the bottle back into the coffin and closed the lid. The outside scene immediately switched to another scenario.
This time the flesh ruins had completely vanished. Strange stone carvings stood around the coffin.
Lin Ye pushed open the lid and instantly felt a deadly sense of danger emanating from those sculptures.
“Help me! If you can get me out, I’ll give you a Rule Fragment!”
A pleading voice came from behind one of the stone carvings, but in Lin Ye’s perception there was nothing behind that carving.
“I can hand you all my possessions, and teach you everything I know, as long as you rescue me!”
When Lin Ye did not respond, the voice continued.
Lin Ye still made no reply, because whenever that voice sounded, the surrounding sense of danger would completely vanish.
The other party clearly had serious issues. Even with the Sloth state, Lin Ye would not move carelessly.
This sea creature was Number 4, and it said the thing was outside.
Number 4 had not lied. That object really was outside.
Between the coffin and the sculptures, less than a meter from the coffin, there was a gray stone carved flower. It was the most normal-looking sculpture here.
Lin Ye did not rush out. The easier something was to obtain, the more dangerous it tended to be.
The voice kept begging Lin Ye to free it, but Lin Ye had no intention of indulging it.
By trying, Lin Ye discovered that spiritual energy could not approach the carving, Rule Power did not affect the carving, and even mental constructs shattered before touching it.
Lin Ye could only unseal the Abyssal Eye and use the power of the Falling Rule Fragment to try to make that stone flower fall into the Abyss.
Under the Abyssal Eye’s influence, the stone flower finally began to move. Lin Ye used Rule Power to continuously control the flower’s falling direction.
This did not seem to be a normal space, but some kind of anomalous structural space. Fortunately the Abyss was unaffected by space and time, so Lin Ye managed to move the stone flower into the coffin.
After securing the stone flower, Lin Ye immediately closed the lid, but a white claw suddenly inserted itself between the coffin and the lid, preventing it from shutting.
The Abyssal Eye had not been sealed yet. Lin Ye looked outside the coffin and saw that there were actually no sculptures; instead, the ground was littered with numerous dismembered white corpse fragments.
That thing that looked like a head of a corpse was staring into the coffin, meeting Lin Ye’s gaze through the gap.
“Get me out and I can give you everything you want.”
The corpse head emitted a voice full of enticement.
Lin Ye did not answer. He lay inside the coffin and watched the lid through the Abyssal Eye.
The other party was not behind that stone carving at all; its corpses were everywhere.
If Lin Ye left the coffin, the creature could control him, even occupy his body.
Lin Ye was also unsure whether his Special Ability could negate the effect of those corpse fragments outside, because the Special Ability had clearly been affected when that voice spoke.
After all, Special Ability only greatly reduces factors that would harm Lin Ye, it does not offer absolute immunity.
The lid slowly closed as Lin Ye placed that tiny corpse fragment into the bottle.
The flower slightly opened, but did not fully bloom.
The lid shut completely amid the corpse fragment’s curses. The external scene switched, but the fragment’s voice still echoed inside the coffin.
“I will curse you here forever. Sooner or later you will return here and end up like me.”
“Hah, the lament of the weak.”
Lin Ye paid no heed to the curses. If curses worked, he would have been dead long ago.
Only after the voice inside the coffin faded entirely did Lin Ye push the lid open.
The flesh ruins had vanished completely. The bone-white coffin sat on top of a stone pillar only a few square meters in cross-section, and beneath the pillar was an endless expanse of pitch-black seawater.
The top of the pillar was hundreds of meters above the sea level. The sky was a clean azure, without a single cloud.
“We went too deep. If we go any deeper, we might not be able to return,” Little Guardian warned, leaning against the coffin.
“You’re right. Once I lay in the coffin, we were already past the point of no return.”
Lin Ye had long considered this possibility.
“Why did you lie in there? Was it my fault?”
Little Guardian didn’t think Lin Ye had acted on a whim like that.
“I was probably affected by something, an influence coming from multiple levels, so it isn’t your fault.”
Lin Ye had only planned to lie in the coffin for a while. That choice related to the effect produced by Special Ability, and other factors contributed as well.
“But I am your mental defense system. That makes it my fault.”
Little Guardian said stubbornly.
“Fine, then let it be your fault. As punishment, I require that you accompany me deeper into the mental world. Now I forgive you.”
Lin Ye answered calmly.
“This is not punishment.”
Little Guardian could not accept that line of reasoning.
“Don’t overthink it. I’ll find a way back.”
Lin Ye stepped out of the coffin and stood on the edge of the stone pillar. Below was a pure black, motionless sea. Midway up the pillar, a silver nail was hammered in, and hanging from it was a container filled with black liquid.
That was the location that had appeared in Lin Ye’s conversation with Number 60 sea creatures.
