Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 826: Spaceship"Well, that's a relief, at least we don't have to look for three exits when we run."
Lin Ye looked upward, the surrounding city blocks spiraling up into the sky, with several cracked fork roads appearing ahead, each leading off in a different direction.
"Follow me, we've been through this area many times. Although the terrain shifts, we can find the right path until we go deep enough."
Little Spiral casually walked toward the leftmost street, completely at home in this area.
Ten minutes later.
"Hey? When have I ever seen this place before?"
Little Spiral stopped, looking back at Margaret with a puzzled expression.
"The city structure around here has been reorganized, but the overall layout is pretty much the same. We just need to keep going deeper."
Margaret moved to the front to lead the way, and soon they found a new fault line.
Soon a rope was tossed down, and Margaret and Lin Ye began climbing up.
It took a bit of time, but the two successfully made it to the next area. The moment Lin Ye stepped onto the platform, he realized that invisible spiral force fields were everywhere.
The force fields weren't particularly strong, but moving within them would consume extra stamina.
"How is this possible? Last time we only ran into these spiral force fields when we reached the depths of the city."
Little Spiral said, somewhat confused.
"Maybe something has changed in Spiral City. We don't know this place all that well, so we'd better be careful from here on out."
Margaret cautiously scanned her surroundings. The last thing she wanted was to be ambushed by a spiral creature in an environment like this.
"Could it be because I'm here?"
Lin Ye wasn't entirely sure either, after all, he had used a Special Ability, which might very well have caused some kind of impact on this place.
"You're pretty funny."
Little Spiral looked at Lin Ye with an expression of pity.
"Don't judge me by how pathetic I look now, I used to be loaded. I've still got tens of thousands of trade points sitting in my card."
Lin Ye didn't take it to heart and said casually.
"Well, that is quite a lot, just about the same as my credit limit."
Little Spiral clearly wasn't impressed.
Lin Ye quickened his pace. He had already adapted to this kind of spiral force field and could use its power to advance in a spiraling motion.
"There's a spiral creature up ahead, let's go around it from the side."
Margaret, who was leading the way, suddenly turned back to say.
"Can't we just take it out? I've got a feeling today's a bit unlucky, so maybe we should find an exit first as a backup."
Little Spiral stretched her arms and legs, eager to give it a try.
"You sure? Then go ahead."
Margaret pointed toward the end of the road, where half a fountain plaza stood. A bizarre-looking spiral creature was planted right above the plaza, its shadow cast over half the fountain square.
"What the hell is that thing? A war chariot?"
Little Spiral naturally didn't dare go over there. She could handle some smaller spiral creatures with her physical techniques and various tools, but something as large as this, she wouldn't even dream of getting close.
"It kind of looks like a spaceship... and that counts as a spiral creature?"
This was the first time Lin Ye had seen such a large spiral-shaped vehicle.
Too bad he couldn't use his mental energy right now, otherwise he'd definitely probe the thing's internal structure.
"Wait a second, did it just glance over here?"
Little Spiral followed behind Margaret, her gaze fixed on that spiral creature the whole time.
"That's right, it's not just glancing, it's moving closer to us."
Although the spiral creature showed no signs of movement, Lin Ye still noticed the shift in distance.
"We'd better get to the next area as soon as possible."
Margaret had no way of dealing with a spiral creature of that size either.
"I'll go up and set up the rope."
Little Spiral took off on the spot. This was no time to be conserving fuel.
But the moment she left the ground, that spaceship was already in front of her. A spiral force field materialized around the vessel, pulling her right into its interior.
The spaceship moved with incredible speed, so fast that Lin Ye couldn't even see the acceleration process before it had already appeared before Little Spiral.
After snatching her up, the spaceship flew off into the depths of Spiral City.
"Well... what do we do now?"
Everything happened so fast that neither Lin Ye nor Margaret had time to react.
"...I have no idea either."
Margaret stared blankly in the direction the spaceship had disappeared. She never would have imagined a spiral creature would snatch her companion away.
"Is there anything special about her?"
Lin Ye didn't understand why that spaceship would take Little Spiral. If anything, shouldn't it have taken him instead?
"...Does having a cheerful personality count?"
Margaret hesitated for a moment before responding.
"Then it probably has something to do with flying. This place might not allow us to fly up."
That was the only conclusion Lin Ye could come up with.
"That is a real possibility. We haven't encountered this kind of spiral creature before, so we never got taken.
But if we can't fly, how are we supposed to get up?"
Margaret thought it made sense.
"We can try going up a bit further. I'm sure there's a way up here. If they didn't want us to pass, they could just kill us outright, not confiscate our ride."
Lin Ye felt the gradually intensifying spiral force fields around him and roughly figured out the method to get through.
"The spiral force fields here are so strong... Could it be that we're supposed to use them to get up?"
Margaret stood at the broken edge of the fountain plaza. She couldn't possibly abandon Little Spiral and go back on her own, but if she used the force fields to leave the ground, the rest of the journey would have to rely entirely on the spiral force fields for movement.
That would require a deep understanding of the spiral force fields, otherwise one wrong step could send her falling to her death.
"I can go up and help you find her. You can go find an exit nearby."
This kind of force field manipulation was no challenge for Lin Ye.
"The spiral force fields up there are extremely complex, not repetitive patterns. If you can't see the force fields, you could easily fall."
Margaret put on her glasses. She needed to study the force field distribution above before she could plan a route up.
"Could you let me borrow your glasses for a bit?"
Lin Ye had originally planned to go up and test things out a few times before finding a viable route. After all, as long as he could find leverage, he wouldn't fall to a place without force fields. But if her glasses could show the force field distribution, that would make things much easier.
"Here."
Margaret took off her glasses and handed them to Lin Ye.
Lin Ye put on the glasses and looked for a little while before speaking:
"...I can wear the glasses and lead the way up front. Can you keep up?"
Lin Ye noticed that the spiral force fields above were constantly shifting, so he'd need to keep the glasses on at all times to find the correct path.
"I can. But are you sure you'll be okay?"
Margaret was fully aware of how difficult it was to lead the way up front.
"No problem."
Lin Ye jumped straight into the force field above, leaving the ground behind.
