The commander’s demise greatly affected the morale of all the Sha Hua Fishmen on the field.
Many of the fishman minions, initially encouraged by him to bravely fight the weakened adventurers, and even some elite guards, lost their vigor in battle, as if they had lost their backbone.
The situation, originally reversed upon the commander’s arrival, once again inclined towards the adventurer camp.
This was an entirely predictable scenario.
After all, the existence of the Fishman Commander was, to some extent, akin to a double-edged sword that wasn’t so obvious.
Fishmen groups with such elite individuals could exhibit discipline and mobilization akin to large-scale intelligent creature forces, integrating the power of minions, guards, and priests, and unleashing strength far exceeding previous levels.
But if the commander was beheaded, the morale uplifted by his presence would suffer backlash, plunging the entire Sha Hua Fishmen community under his command into a gloomy and low atmosphere.
On this premise, once Xia Nan charged with the specialty "Night Mother’s Gaze" of "Teeth Hunting," they immediately lost the will to fight and were utterly defeated.
Barely able to display half of their combat power, some were slain by the teamwork of adventurers, while others fled haphazardly back into the sea, shrieking pathetically.
In less than ten minutes, the battlefield saturated with a tense atmosphere was devoid of any Sha Hua Fishmen still breathing.
Casually swinging the sword, he flicked the gray-black straight sword smeared with gleaming blue blood away, took a piece of gauze from his chest pocket, and lightly wiped the stains from the sword’s surface, planning to properly maintain it after the battle thoroughly ended.
Xia Nan sheathed the sword, gazing ahead at the field.
Clearly, the adventurers weren’t in good condition.
Severely weakened by the Ritual Secret Realm, they struggled to adapt back to reality, and now faced such an intense battle.
Even though "Furious Tide Battle Gang" and "Wind Forger" were famous elite teams in the Southern Islands, both suffered heavy losses in the recent battle against the fishmen.
Including Dwarf Copper Rock, Wandering Leslie, and even the deputy captain Fink of "Wind Forger," who died on the spot, his head shattered by a Magic Missile.
Despite winning the battle in the end, the emotions of everyone on the field remain exceedingly somber and subdued, silently collecting their fallen comrades’ bodies, occasionally whispering or gasping sharply due to intense pain.
Xia Nan was never someone adept at soothing or easing situations. Facing such scenes now, he naturally refrains from speaking platitudes, instead silently reflecting on the recent battle within his heart.
The fishmen’s assault brought extremely severe negative impacts on the two adventurer teams ahead.
But from his own perspective, the battle against the Sha Hua Fishmen did facilitate his further adaptation to his enhanced body, familiarizing him with the specific changes after upgrading "Fallen Blade Hunting" to Level 4.
Just as Xia Nan anticipated, his combat ability significantly boosted after the upgrade, several battle skills saw enhanced damage power and casting speed.
The most noticeable transformation, of course, was "Heavy Tide," which, before entering the Secret Realm, was only just reaching Level 3 "Skill," now upon emerging, it was already full Level "Master."
This skill imbuing attacks with the "Heavy Momentum," increasing damage and possibly disrupting the enemy’s actions, causing them to lose balance, once reaching skill Level lv5, saw all-around enhancement of effects, a true qualitative change.
The only regrettable point was it didn’t, like "Vortex Slash" and "Teeth Hunting" previously, offer additional specialties upon full level, leaving Xia Nan somewhat disappointed.
Yet, thinking of "Gravity Control," which was just a bit shy of leveling up, he intuitively sensed a premonition.
Perhaps, when it’s upgraded to Level 2, he would gain some extra benefits?
Skill Level upgrade progress bar nearing completion, Xia Nan had ample patience, did not overthink, when he heard slightly heavy footsteps approaching from nearby.
"Damn ’Algae Scale’ Dodd, I’ll rip your filthy scales off piece by piece..."
"Furious Tide Battle Gang’s" captain Iron Grid no longer exhibited the spirited demeanor when first meeting Xia Nan in the tavern.
Fortunately, due to Xia Nan’s timely support, he didn’t suffer serious injuries in the battle with the Fishman Commander.
But, the paint-like blue blood splattered on his trouser legs, the face and sideburns soaked with sweat, and the three braids intertwining due to the fight on his chin, made this stocky, mixed-blood warrior, whose height barely reached Xia Nan’s lower chest, appear exceedingly disheveled.
Seeing Xia Nan’s gaze sweep over, Iron Grid’s expression subtly froze, then instinctively squeezed out a somewhat stiff smile.
"Luckily you were here this time, these damn sea rats are hard to handle."
"Hmm... should anything arise in the future, feel free to find me, I owe you one."
Previously, due to the side request attached to collector Aurie’s commission, and the reputation of "Haiya," he paid some attention to Xia Nan.
But having not witnessed him in combat, he lacked concepts of Xia Nan’s specific strength.
The battle with the fishmen earlier allowed Iron Grid to comprehensively perceive this remarkably young black-haired adventurer, sincerely wanting to forge a connection.
Nodding in response, exchanging a few polite words, Xia Nan shifted his gaze to the other side.
