A map appeared on the table, with every detail projected as it was in reality.
Sera continued.
"Naturally, and as we all know, the Khyronians have always been the straightforward kind. Direct, and while it’s a concept that is in itself strange, it is a fact. They have been that way for more than a century. But this time, they are speculated to be thinking of coming through the north. Yes, something’s up with their leadership. I’d go into more deets, but until I’m sure, let’s just sit with this."
General Cael Drath spoke. A wall of muscle and composure, with eyes polished like onyx. He bowed slightly.
"As a result of the previous movement of those demons, we already deployed our forces to the two most possible places they would seek out and attack first — that is, the Eastern Divide and, at the South East, the Rift. We sent elites to the Northern Province, and we also have Theria at the North West border, so we should not worry for now. Not to mention the nations there on the outskirts. Surely, they’d defend their countries."
A pause lingered. Erica felt the figure’s gaze fall upon her.
"You met one of their advance cadres a few weeks ago, General. What did you observe?"
Erica tilted her head, recalling.
"I’d say they were smarter. Normally, they’d rampage around and draw attention earlier, but to my surprise, they had cast a spell that completely obscured an entire town from our radar. Our response came very late, unfortunately."
"WHAT!?"
"Huh?"
"They can now cast that level of spells? Are you sure, General?" the figure asked.
"Very much. And the closest thing to a pure wizard I found among the corpses was an Adept Rank. He couldn’t have been able to cast such a spell or even maintain it for hours."
Rodain rubbed his chin.
"General Erica, pray tell. Has their physical strength increased over the past years?"
General Erica shrugged. "That I do not know."
"But you—" Sera was cut short.
"They were all dead before we arrived. Mostly."
"Dead?" Malcius questioned, frowning.
"Yes, Malcius. A lad killed them all."
Sera opened her mouth to speak, but Rodain waved her down, and she began sulking.
"He has white hair and unfathomable eyes. Also, the demons’ corpses were cleanly cut and sliced so neatly, so whoever taught him swordsmanship must have been quite the teacher. The brat also had little to no fear, in addition to a shitload of confidence — or rather, arrogance. Forgive the language."
"His rank?"
"Master. His core was crimson. But he was able to manifest his killing intent to an extent even Behemoth fell to his knees. Overall, I’d say he’s pretty much a little, white-haired Cael."
"I’m not arrogant," Cael grumbled in return.
"Yeah, sure, big guy."
The figure on the throne coughed.
"Ladies, gentlemen. One house, if you would please. Erica?"
"Yes?"
"What do we know of his background?"
"Of course. But he wasn’t born with white hair. His parents passed away in the last war, and he lived with a relative, I think. After the demons attacked, the relatives were all killed. Next thing we know, brat’s got white hair."
Malcius stroked his white beard.
"An awakening of sorts? Maybe he has Imperial blood? Of the branch family. They are the only people with the silver-white hair color."
"No," Erica answered. "His hair was too white — pure, unadulterated white. No offense, Cael. Per my subordinates’ reports, he’s currently at House Limnor."
Sera’s red eyes glinted.
"House Limnor? That claims it has created a relic of breaking ranks and giving people the ability to grow? Am I the only one who smells the suspicion?"
"We all do," the figure replied. "When the Merchant Office officially submits their reports, then we’ll know how to go about with the boy."
"Next agenda." Malcius’ expression darkened. "We’ve confirmed a disturbance in the Vampire Icelands."
"Speak."
"A presence of considerable age."
Rodain’s eyes narrowed.
"That should not be possible for at least another four hundred years, Malcius."
Malcius nodded, grim.
"And yet here it is."
A quiet voice broke through the tension. Sera leaned forward, chin resting on her palm.
"The One Above All, then?" She scoffed.
"Tch."
"So the Progenitor wakes... a few centuries early. Listen, Rodain, Sera, Cael, Erica. Not to blow the horns of the person in question, but Vampire Progenitor is a really powerful figure. A Half Deity Rank individual that has lived, died, and lived for millennia. If she’s truly awakened, then the whole of the iceland will rally behind her."
Rodain’s expression remained impassive.
"We should strike first, before she regains her full strength. Send in the cream of the crop of elites."
Malcius chuckled.
"Foolish boy. Legend has it that the Progenitor is no mortal monarch. It is recorded that a Celestial once had to come down to stop her. You’d only provoke a massacre, and forget not the fact that we already have Kyhron on our necks."
The figure’s voice cut cleanly through the rising tension.
Silence followed immediately.
"We will not attack the Vampiric Mountains, for now. The vampires, per their nature, have always remained neutral. There is no need to overcomplicate things." The figure paused.
"We shall reinforce our borders, and we must end the war before the Progenitor fully awakens, or the consequences might be disastrous. Get the troops ready to deploy at any time, all of them, to all our borders. Malcius, your mages?"
"Ever ready."
"Good. We need all the strength we can muster. For now, we will use guerrilla tactics, but make sure to chop down large numbers of enemies. You five, be ever ready to move at any time, to the battlefront and back here. I trust the capital should be protected by the Imperial Orders, yes?"
"Yes, sir!"
"About the lad?" Erica questioned.
"When the report comes in, then we’ll decide. I might leave him to you, though."
Erica smirked.
"Talk about working overtime."
"Send word to the nations of Lisbon, Icarus, the Republic, and the rest. Tell them I shall grant them an audience with me. In the absence of any other agenda, this meeting is over. You are dismissed."
The Generals rose and bowed. The presence of the figure shifted and vanished.
Sera stretched and yawned.
"Sucks to be weak at this time."
Cael groaned.
"Children."
