The moment I showed Tier-1 Mana Shield.....
The cosmic chat was analyzing his every move.
[User 'Tactical-Genius_01': A wise purchase. Marcus Thorne commands S-Rank resources. A direct confrontation in the open would be statistical suicide. The human needs a forward operating base.]
[User 'Weapons_Nut_44': DO YOU EVEN REALIZE WHAT THAT HARDSHELL HARD-LIGHT DOME IS?! That's a military-grade Phase-4 acoustic-thermal dampener! It literally bends thermal radiation and active sonar pulses around the perimeter! Vanguard's high-altitude satellite sweeps will just read that entire block as a hollow void!]
[User 'Zark': Who cares about stats and tech gibberish?! Kael can just punch them all to death!]
[User 'Gloop': LMFAOOOO BRO BOUGHT A LITERALLY CHEAT-CODE BUBBLE FROM THE SYSTEM MARKET AND SIT BACK LIKE HE'S IN AN MMO SAFE-ZONE! CHILL LEVEL 10000 🎮🤣]
[User 'KAEL_CHOKE_ME': THE WAY HE SATE DOWN AND LEANED HIS HEAD BACK UNDER THAT BLUE LIGHT 🤤💦 BRO LOOKS LIKE A TIRED DEMON KING ON HIS THRONE! HEAL ME NEXT KAEL PLEASE!]
[User 'Bet-Master': I'm opening a new pool. Does he survive the week? Thorne is going to mobilize the entire Guild. Fifty thousand hunters against one guy with a crossbow. The odds are astronomically bad.]
[User 'DragonBoredom': You underestimate the depth of his malice, little gamblers. He will turn their numbers into a slaughterhouse.]
[User 'Star_Dust_69': FIFTY THOUSAND HUNTERS?! BRO ARE WE WATCHING A SUICIDE RUN?! SOMEONE SEND HIM MORE SHIELDS PLEASE I AM SWEATING ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜]
[User 'Succubus_Envy_99': Oh, let them send fifty thousand... watching him paint the walls red with his bare hands while covered in sweat is my absolute fantasy 🥵🩸]
[User 'Void_Cynic_01': Tactical-Genius and Weapons_Nut are right for once. The shield suppresses signal leakage, but an active barrier still draws 200kW of localized mana. If a Vanguard hunter steps within 10 meters physically, the game is over.]
[User 'X_Void_Walker_X': Let them step within 10 meters. Did you forget what he did to the Vanguard squad in the courtyard? He doesn't even need the crossbow at close range.]
Kael read the floating text, his eyes lingering on the debate over his survival odds.
"Fifty thousand, huh?" Kael muttered, a low rasp breaking his silence.
Seraphina glanced over from the edge of the platform, her hand resting on her hilt.
"What did you say?"
"Just checking the numbers," Kael said softly.
"The Vanguard has fifty thousand active hunters on the payroll."
Seraphina's expression darkened, her golden eyes tightening with immediate worry.
"And an entire automated defense network. Plus the orbital strike arrays... Kael, if we move recklessly, we won't survive the hour."
Fifty thousand Vanguard hunters. A city armed with orbital defenses. An S-Rank Paladin who knew all of Kael's old tactics.
The chat was right. He was severely, absurdly outgunned.
If he just kicked the front door down again, he would die.
"I didn't crawl out of hell just to run headfirst into a firing squad," Kael whispered, looking down at his scarred palms.
He had spent ten years fighting for every single breath in the pitch-black mud of the Abyss.
Ten years of eating rot, bleeding in silence, and clawing through darkness just to see the surface sky one last time.
And now, he was sitting on the surface, shielded, heavily armed, and bankrolled by a universe of bored gods.
"Kael?" Seraphina asked, stepping closer when she saw the sudden shift in his posture.
"What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking Marcus Thorne made a catastrophic mistake," Kael said.
"Which one?"
"He left me alive."
A slow, terrifying, deeply satisfied grin spread across his dirt-caked, scarred face.
Seraphina shivered slightly, taking an involuntary half-step back.
The raw, unfiltered aura radiating off him wasn't human.... it was the cold pressure of an apex predator that had mastered survival.
The fear and panic he had seen in the eyes of those Vanguard Enforcers up in the courtyard was just the appetizer.
Marcus Thorne had stolen his life.
Kaelen Cross was going to steal his entire fucking empire.
CRUNCH.
From the dark shadows near the far tunnel, a sudden, wet crunch echoed sharply through the quiet station.
A massive, mutated rat—roughly the size of a bulldog, with glowing yellow eyes and jagged bone protrusions along its spine—had managed to slip past the heavy rubble blocking the tracks.
It sniffed the damp subterranean air, baring red-stained fangs as it took a aggressive step toward the platform.
It didn't get far.
Vespera materialized directly above it, dropping from the pitch-black ceiling like a silent guillotine.
Her segmented tail lashed out in a blur of purple light, the glowing pink heart-blade severing the beast's head from its body in a single, perfectly silent strike.
SWOOSH.
Before a single drop of black blood could hit the floor, she caught the severed head mid-air with one pale, clawed hand.
Her crimson eyes glowed with lethal, terrifying efficiency in the dim blue light of the shield dome.
Seraphina's hand instantly flew to her sword hilt, her dark holy aura twitching violently.
"That demon..."
"Relax, Sera," Kael said without turning his head.
"She's just showing off."
Vespera turned her head slowly, looking over her sleek shoulder at Kael while offering a wicked, bloodstained smirk.
"Perimeter secure, bossy mortal," Vespera purred, tossing the severed head carelessly back into the dark depths of the tunnel.

"Good," Kael grunted, not even bothering to glance at the dead beast.
Vespera drifted over, floating inches above the concrete floor, her arms crossed beneath her chest with an amused, feline smile.
"No compliment? I was very neat about it. Not a single drop on your precious tiles."
"You missed the three scouts lurking two hundred yards down the northern line," Kael said flatly, his silver eyes fixed on the empty air.
Vespera's smile froze, her tail flicking with sharp irritation.
"They weren't an immediate threat!"
"They're a threat the second they leak our coordinates," Kael replied, his voice colder than the underground air.
"Finish the job properly next time."
Seraphina let out a small, quiet snort from her post near the pillar, thoroughly enjoying the Succubus getting shot down.
Kael sat forward on the edge of the metal chassis, his tactical mind already ten steps ahead of the Vanguard's next move.
The shield generator bought them precious time, but they were still severely outgunned and outmanned.
Marcus had an army of thousands. He had S-Rank Hunters, armored aerial gunships, and the entire surveillance grid of Neo-Edo at his absolute disposal.
If Kael wanted to dismantle the Aegis Spire piece by piece, he couldn't do it blindly.
He needed intelligence. He needed blueprints. He needed the security codes for the upper sectors of the city.
"Chat!! We're blind down here," Kael muttered to himself, his silver eyes glowing faintly in the dim blue light of the shield generator.
Seraphina shifted her weight against the rusted platform pillar, her gauntlets creaking softly in the dark.
"The Aegis Spire changes its encryption frequency every six hours, Kael. Even back when I was a commander, only Marcus and his inner circle had the master keys to Sector 1."
"Then we take the keys," Kael said flatly.
"From an S-Rank fortress defended by thousands of hunters?" Seraphina asked, her voice laced with heavy, practical concern.
"We don't even know where their patrol rotations are concentrated right now."
"She's right, bossy mortal," Vespera chimed in, floating lazily upside down in the air, her tail swaying like a dark pendulum.
"Even my shadows can't breach localized mana-jamming fields without alerting their sensor grids."
A slow, terrifying, deeply cynical grin spread across Kael's dirt-caked face.
He liked being outgunned. It made the killing so much more satisfying.
"Who said anything about using muscle?" Kael rasped.
He reached into his tactical pocket again.
His scarred, calloused fingers brushed against the ice-cold, metallic surface of a tiny, biomechanical device.
He pulled it out into the dim sapphire glow of the shield dome.
It was the Xel'Naga Dimensional Splicer.
The highly illegal, sentient cyber-leech he had used to hack the Mid-Level Checkpoint down in the Abyss.
It was still humming softly, its neon-pink internal light pulsing in a rhythmic, mechanical pattern that matched the steady beat of Kael's heartbeat.
"Is that..." Seraphina leaned forward, her golden eyes widening as she recognized the forbidden technology.
"An Abyssal Splicer? Kael, if the Vanguard traces an active Splicer signal, they'll know instantly that...."
"They won't trace anything," Kael cut her off smoothly.
When he had blown the blast doors with the orbital strike, he had severed the physical connection on his end.
But the Splicer retained the encrypted digital handshake it had formed with the surface network.
More importantly, it retained the direct connection to the one person on this planet who hated Marcus Thorne as much as he did.
Kael turned his hand slightly, holding the mechanical centipede directly up to the floating, invisible stream camera.
"Chat," Kael rasped, his voice dropping into a low, chilling tone.
"You can't win a war if you can't see the battlefield."
Vespera let out a soft, dark giggle from above, while Seraphina simply watched him in stunned, silent awe.
He looked at the Splicer, his grin widening into something truly predatory.
"We need eyes in the sky."
Kael closed his fist around the device, the metallic legs twitching against his skin.
"It's time to cash in a favor."
He activated the Splicer's communication array, forcing a direct, encrypted dimensional handshake back to the surface intranet.
He wasn't hacking the Vanguard mainframe this time.
He was calling the only person on Earth who hated Marcus Thorne as much as he did.
BZZZT.
The holographic interface flickered, opening a private, heavily encrypted audio channel.
"Pick up the phone, Nyx," Kael whispered into the dark.
Seraphina took a step closer, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"Nyx? As in... the Tech Phantom?"
"Keep your voice down," Kael muttered, holding a finger to his lips.
"She gets skittish."
For three seconds, there was only dead static humming over the line.
Then, a harsh, panicked, heavily caffeinated female voice crackled violently over the receiver.
"ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?!" Nyx shrieked, the raw audio distortion peaking and rattling the Splicer's tiny speaker.
Kael smirked, utterly unbothered by the deafening scream.
"Good evening to you too, kid."
"Good evening?! Good evening?!" Nyx yelled, her voice dropping an octave as she gasped for breath.
"You just dropped a literal pillar of god-light in the middle of the Aegis courtyard! You vaporized half a city block!"
"It was a controlled kinetic strike," Kael replied evenly.
"Controlled?! The blast register went off the charts!" Nyx was hyperventilating now, the furious, blinding clacking of a mechanical keyboard rattling rhythmically in the background.
"Every single Vanguard cyber-division is tearing the grid apart looking for your broadcast signal! Thorne just declared Martial Law! The entire city is on absolute lockdown!"
Vespera floated down beside Kael, an amused, dark grin on her lips as she listened to the girl lose her mind.
"A delightfully noisy little rat, isn't she?"
"Shut up, demon," Kael warned, before speaking back into the comms.
"And yet, they haven't found you."
"Because I'm bouncing your cosmic signal through thirty different satellite proxies, you psychotic boomer!" Nyx snapped back, her keyboarding hitting a frantic fever pitch.
"My servers are literally melting!"
Kael let out a dark, low chuckle that resonated through the quiet subterranean hall.
"I need your help, Nyx."
"Help? You don't need help, you need a therapist! What the hell could you possibly want from me now? I opened the gate! Our deal is done!"
Kael leaned forward, resting his heavy elbows on his bruised knees, his silver eyes completely cold and focused.
"The Vanguard is blind to Sector 4," Kael stated, his voice ringing with dead certainty.
"But they have hunter-killer drones circling the perimeter. I need you to blind them completely."
"You want me to hack military-grade HK drones?" Nyx yelled back, the keyboard clacking pausing for a single fraction of a second.
"Do you have any idea how much Vanguard ICE is packed into those things? Their firewalls are written in military-grade quantum code! One wrong ping and my rig gets fried!"
"I know you can do it," Kael said flatly.
"Because you're the Tech Phantom."
There was a brief, sudden pause on the line.
POP.
The unmistakable sound of a synthetic bubblegum bubble popping echoed sharply through the encrypted comms.
"Flattery won't save you from a firing squad, old man," Nyx muttered, though her voice had lost its frantic, panicked edge, replaced instantly by a cocky, dangerous arrogance.
"I'm sitting in the old Sakura Subway Station, three miles deep into Sector 4," Kael said, his voice lowering into a gravelly rasp.
"I have a safehouse. But I need gear. I need real-time surveillance. And I need someone who can read Vanguard troop movements like a open book."
Seraphina stared at Kael, her heart pounding against her ribs as she realized the true scale of what he was building in this abandoned tomb.
Vespera's tail flicked in slow, mesmerizing loops, her glowing crimson eyes fixed on the man commanding the room.
Kael paused, letting the heavy, suffocating weight of his next words sink in through the line.
"I'm putting a team together, Nyx. I'm going to tear Marcus Thorne's empire down to the bedrock."
The silence on the line stretched for a long, agonizing moment.
Nyx hated the Vanguard.
She had spent her entire life hiding in the shadows, stealing their credit reserves, vandalizing their digital networks, and running from their strike teams.
She had always played defense, always running, always surviving.
But this wasn't running. This was open, total war.
"...Sakura Station?" Nyx finally asked, her voice dropping into a quiet, intensely calculated whisper.
"Yeah," Kael replied.
"Sakura Station."
"Give me an hour," Nyx said, the sound of her mechanical keys exploding back to life at twice the previous speed.
"And Kael?" she added, a sudden hint of manic, unhinged excitement bleeding into her tone.
"What?"
"If you get me killed, I'm going to haunt your cosmic stream forever."
CLICK.
The audio line cut off, leaving only the quiet hum of the Tier-1 shield dome in the cold subterranean air.
Kael lowered the Splicer, a deeply satisfied, lethal gleam shining in his silver eyes.
Seraphina let out a long breath, a fierce, terrifying fire rekindling behind her golden eyes.
Vespera purred softly, melting back into Kael's shadow with a dark, expectant laugh.
An ex-Vanguard Commander, an S-Rank Void Succubus, and the world's most dangerous hacker.
Marcus Thorne didn't know it yet, but the countdown to his execution had just officially begun.

Author's Note:
First, I want to apologize for the sudden changes I made two days ago.
While working on the story, I realized that some parts needed to be rewritten and adjusted to improve the overall direction and quality of the novel. However, I understand that sudden changes can be confusing, and I appreciate your patience and understanding.
From now on, I will plan at least 15 chapters ahead before writing and will do my best to stick to that plan. This will help me maintain better continuity, pacing, and a stronger overall story experience without making unexpected changes along the way.
I’m always learning and trying to improve as a writer, and I’ll continue working hard to create a better story for everyone who supports this novel.
With the buildup finally complete, the story is now entering one of its important phases — the execution arc. Everything that has been building up will finally begin to unfold.
Thank you so much for reading, and for your comments, reviews, and power stones. Your support means a lot and keeps me motivated to continue writing.
I hope you’re as excited as I am for what comes next.
