From the absolute pitch-black darkness beside the gorge, a figure stepped forward.
The heavy, liquid-dark fabric of the Shadow-Weave Cloak billowed, catching the faint, flickering light of Silas's mana shield.
Under the hood, a pair of piercing, glowing silver eyes locked onto the fat, trembling Warden.
Silas froze.
His blood ran completely cold.
He recognized those eyes.
He recognized the scarred, hardened jawline, and the sheer, suffocating aura of a man who had killed more things than Silas had ever seen in his life.
"No..." Silas whispered, his lips trembling.
The color drained entirely from Silas's face, leaving him looking like a bloated, sweating corpse.
"No, that's impossible. You're dead. Your core is shattered. You've been down here for ten years!"
Kaelen Cross didn't say a word.
He just took a slow, deliberate step forward, the heavy eighty-pound bulk of Vengeance resting easily in his right hand.
The heavy greatsword didn't emit a single spark of mana, yet its massive edge dragged through the air with the weight of an executioner's blade.
The sight of Kael—alive, armed, and radiating an aura of pure, unadulterated murder—shattered what was left of Silas's sanity.
[User Zark: CHILLS. ABSOLUTE CHILLS.]
[User Blood-Fiend_99: LOOK AT HIM SHAKING! THE WARDEN IS SHITTING HIS PANTS!]
[User Star_Dust_69: Wait, ten years? A shattered core in the Abyssal Rift? How the hell is he standing?!]
[User Weapons_Nut_44: Look at that posture. That is not the stance of a broken man. That is a predator waiting for the perfect angle.]
[User DragonBoredom: A ghost from the past has returned to claim his due. Entertainment value is rising.]
"Die! Die, you fucking ghost!" Silas shrieked.
Panic completely overtook the Warden.
He threw his hands forward, channeling every ounce of his Rank-B mana into a lethal, offensive spell.
He was pouring everything he had into a single, desperate gamble to erase the monster standing before him.
A massive, roaring sphere of super-heated crimson flames materialized between his palms.
The heat was so intense it instantly evaporated the mud around his feet, turning the water into hissing steam.
FWOOSH!
The fireball grew to the size of a massive boulder, its unstable heat distorting the very air.
Silas's Tier-4 Aegis Shield was fully active, casting a blinding blue dome that perfectly protected his entire frontal profile.
He was entirely defended, locked inside an impenetrable fortress of high-grade mana, and he was about to unleash hell.
Kaelen didn't flinch.
He didn't run. He didn't seek cover.
He didn't even blink.
Time seemed to slow to an absolute crawl, the world stripping down to its bare, raw mechanics.
The holographic stream chat froze as the entities watching from across the cosmos held their collective breath.
Kaelen calmly raised the eighty-pound crossbow, resting the heavy stock against his shoulder.
He looked at Silas.
He looked at the shimmering blue barrier blocking any direct path to the Warden's flesh.
A Tier-4 shield would instantly vaporize a standard bone-bolt upon impact. A direct shot was utterly useless.
So, Kaelen didn't aim at Silas.
He shifted the barrel of his massive weapon exactly thirty-two degrees to the right.
He aimed at a perfectly flat, hardened slab of obsidian bedrock protruding from the cavern wall, exactly ten feet behind and to the side of Silas's position.
[User Zark: He's aiming at the wall! Did he go blind?!]
[User Gloop: He panicked! He's going to die!]
In Kaelen's mind, a complex, instantaneous geometric calculation unfolded.
It was a calculation forged not from textbooks, but from ten years of surviving, hunting, and shooting targets in the pitch-black depths of hell.
Target distance: Eight meters.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Shield radius: Two meters.
Wall distance: Ten meters.
Angle of incidence: Forty-five degrees.
Bolt velocity: Three hundred meters per second.
Hardness of obsidian: Mohs 5.5.
Kinetic energy retention post-ricochet: Sixty percent.
The massive fireball in Silas's hands reached critical mass, casting blood-red light across the cavern.
"BURN IN HELL, CROSS!" Silas roared, throwing his arms forward to launch the devastating spell.
Kaelen exhaled.
He squeezed the trigger.
THWOOM!
The deafening sonic boom of the spider-sinew snapping forward echoed through the gorge like a thunderclap.
The heavy, two-foot-long bone bolt vanished from the crossbow.
It streaked through the air, completely bypassing Silas to the right.
Silas grinned, a mad, breathy laugh escaping his lips. "You missed, you pathetic fu—"
CLACK!
The bolt struck the hardened obsidian wall exactly where Kaelen had calculated.
Sparks showered into the darkness as the reinforced titanium tip slammed into the unbreakable stone.
Physics took over.
The bolt didn't shatter.
Instead, utilizing the immense, terrifying kinetic force of the eighty-pound draw, it violently ricocheted off the wall.
It changed direction instantly, bouncing backward at a severe, forty-five-degree angle.
It bypassed the frontal arc of Silas's Tier-4 Aegis shield entirely.
It entered the shield's perimeter from the blind, unprotected rear.
Silas didn't even have time to turn his head.
THWACK.
The bone bolt hit Silas directly in the back of his right knee.
It didn't just pierce the flesh; it utterly obliterated the joint.
The titanium tip punched through the tendon, shattered the kneecap from the inside out, and exploded out the front of Silas's leg in a sickening shower of bone fragments and blood.
GAAAAAAHHHHH!
Silas's eyes bugged out of his skull, veins bulging against his skin.
The massive fireball he was charging instantly destabilized, fizzling out into a harmless puff of smoke as his concentration violently shattered.
His right leg folded backward at an impossible, grotesque angle.
The fat Warden collapsed like a puppet with its strings violently severed, plunging face-first into the black mud.
The Tier-4 Aegis shield flickered, sparkled, and died.
The chat went completely, utterly silent for three full seconds.
Then, it exploded with a ferocity that threatened to crash the system interface.
[User Weapons_Nut_44: DID HE JUST CALCULATE A BLIND RICOCHET OFF A JAGGED WALL TO BYPASS A TIER-4 SHIELD?!]
[User Zark: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK AM I WATCHING?!]
[User Star_Dust_69: GEOMETRY DIFF! HE JUST MATHED HIM TO DEATH!]
[User Bet-Master: I have watched millions of hours of Vanguard combat... I have never seen a shot like that. Not even from a Grandmaster Archer.]
[User DragonBoredom: Ah... The beautiful cruelty of geometry. I am highly amused.]

Kaelen didn't look at the glowing golden numbers.
He didn't care about the credits.
He slowly lowered Vengeance, the heavy barrel smoking softly in the damp, heavy air.
He walked forward.
His boots crunched heavily against the gravel, the sound echoing ominously as he approached the weeping, thrashing Warden.
Silas was on his back, clawing wildly at the mud, trying to drag his massive body away from the oncoming storm.
Blood pumped furiously from the ruined stump of his knee, staining the black mud a deep, sickening crimson.
"No! No, please!" Silas blubbered, tears and snot streaming down his fat face.
He looked up at Kaelen, his eyes wide with absolute terror.
He wasn't looking at a man anymore. He was looking at a demon forged in the deepest pits of the abyss, finally come to collect its blood debt.
Kaelen reached Silas.
He didn't rush. He didn't say a word immediately.
He simply raised his heavy combat boot and stomped down hard, planting the sole of his boot directly on the center of Silas's chest.
Crack.
The sound of three of Silas's ribs snapping under the immense weight echoed loudly through the quiet cavern.
Silas screamed, coughing up a mouthful of thick blood, completely pinned to the mud.
"Cross... Cross, wait!" Silas begged, his voice high-pitched, desperate, and pathetic. "I can help you! I can get you out of here! I have money! Marcus... Marcus made me do it!"
Kaelen stared down at him.
His silver eyes were hollow. Empty. Devoid of a single shred of human mercy.
He casually racked the heavy lever on the side of his crossbow.
Click-clack.
A fresh, titanium-tipped bone bolt dropped into the firing groove with absolute precision.
He aimed the heavy barrel directly at Silas's face, the sharp metal tip hovering mere inches from the Warden's sweating forehead.
[User Blood-Fiend_99: DO IT! BLOW HIS HEAD OFF!]
[User Gloop: THE HYPE IS REAL!]
Kaelen leaned down slightly.
"You're not going to help me, Silas," Kaelen whispered, his gravelly voice sending a violent, icy shiver down the Warden's spine. "You're going to deliver a message."
Silas blinked, tears blurring his vision. "A message? I... I'll tell him anything! Just let me live!"
Kaelen's lips twitched upward into a cold, terrifying smile.
He reached out with his free hand and grabbed Silas violently by the jaw, forcing his head to turn upward.
He didn't point Silas toward himself.
He pointed Silas's terrified eyes straight up, toward the empty, pitch-black air where Kaelen knew the invisible stream camera was hovering.
"Look right there," Kaelen commanded softly.
Silas stared into the empty air, trembling violently, completely confused.
"Tell Marcus," Kaelen whispered, his voice dark and dripping with a decade of fermented hatred. "Tell him I'm climbing out."
Silas's eyes widened. "Wh...."
THWOOM!
Kaelen pulled the trigger.
At point-blank range, the eighty-pound draw weight of the heavy crossbow was absolute, brutal overkill.
The bone bolt didn't just pierce Silas's skull.
It completely, violently detonated his head like a rotten melon hit by a sledgehammer.
Brain matter, skull fragments, and dark crimson blood sprayed violently across the black mud in a massive fan, coating the surrounding rocks in thick gore.
The headless, rotund corpse of Warden Silas convulsed once, his ruined knee twitching, before going completely, permanently still.
The execution was over.
Kaelen Cross stood silently over the decapitated body of his former tormentor.
He didn't wipe the spray of blood off his own cheek.
He just looked up at the glowing crimson screen hovering in the corner of his vision.
[Current Viewers: 22,401]
The chat was a blur of frantic, hype-filled text, the universal audience losing their minds over the brutal, unapologetic display of dominance.
[User DragonBoredom: Flawless execution. No hesitation. Just beautiful, unfiltered malice.]
[User Zark: HE ACTUALLY BLEW HIS HEAD OFF! THE MADMAN!]
[User Star_Dust_69: Marcus Thorne? Whoever that is, he better start writing his will.]
Kaelen stepped off the corpse.
He reached down into the pooling blood around Silas's ruined neck and violently yanked a heavy, silver spatial ring off the dead Warden's fat finger.
The first step of his revenge was complete.
But the Abyss wasn't finished with him yet.
Suddenly, a massive, suffocating wave of pure, heavy bloodlust washed over the cavern.
It wasn't the mindless hunger of a beast.
It was something deeply intelligent. Something ancient. Something terrifying.
The hairs on the back of Kaelen's neck stood straight up.
His newly mended puddle of mana vibrated violently in his chest, reacting to a sudden, overwhelming spike of demonic energy deeper in the Rift.
Kaelen turned his head, his silver eyes piercing the gloom toward the distant cavern exit.
He wiped the blood from his cheek with the back of his thumb.
The stream had just hit the Nova Tier.
It was time to give them a real fucking show.
