Godslayer's Legend

Chapter 1025: The 8-Step Plan

Reaching the Olympus universe didn’t take too long since they were using a cosmic gate created by a drifter as powerful as Larry.

By Aeturn’s calendar, they had departed on the 31st of January and arrived on the 14th of February.

To minimise the amount of the Cosmic Teleporter’s limited energy they used, Arthur convinced Larry to drop them right into Olympus, directly into the neutral territory near the Underworld, specifically a galaxy located close to the Underworld cluster.

This was Step 2 of their 8-Step Plan.

Step 1 had already been completed with the confirmation of Zeus’ absence. Hades’ Arbiter had arrived, and now they had successfully entered Olympus itself.

Step 3 was travelling through neutral territory.

Step 4 was reaching the Underworld.

Step 5 involved gaining Hades’ protection within Olympus, since no Olympian would dare make a move against them while they were inside the Underworld.

Entering Tartarus was Step 6, obtaining Kronos’ blood for the Ancestral Regression spell was Step 7, and finally, Step 8 was leaving the Underworld and returning to Hell through the Cosmic Teleporter.

Hades had provided Arthur with coordinates leading to a heavily populated planet in one of the galaxies near the dimensional barrier surrounding the Underworld supercluster.

It was also a world frequented by several of his Arbiters and subordinates whenever they departed the Underworld for assignments throughout the Olympus universe.

The moment Cattleya stepped out of the cosmic gate, she frowned deeply and clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"This is very uncomfortable."

Arthur stepped out behind her, blinked once, then looked around before nodding in understanding.

"Yeah, I can see why this would definitely be uncomfortable for you."

The reason for Cattleya’s discomfort was simple.

The ambient energy present within a location, whether a planet, a region of space, a galaxy, or even an entire universe, changed in concentration depending on the existential records of that area. Those records consisted of the data of the existences who inhabited and ruled those regions, including their racial attributes and the energies they manipulated.

The only constants everywhere in existence were cosmic energy, which permeated the entirety of the Cosmos, and magic power, the most malleable offshoot of cosmic energy.

The existential records of a region determined the concentration of the other offshoots of cosmic energy, the various energy types spread throughout the cosmos, such as demonic energy, holy energy, ether, aether, and many others.

As for Olympus, a universe completely dominated by members of the god race, it was only natural for divinity to exist in extremely high concentrations throughout the atmospheres of its planets.

And Cattleya, despite not being pure-blooded, was still a devil.

Divinity wasn’t an energy she was fond of, so merely existing within Olympus made her uncomfortable.

"Don’t worry, we won’t take long," Arthur said. "We’ll be out before you know it."

He then retrieved the star map projector from his subspace and deployed the map Larry had provided for this region of Olympus, comparing it with the map Hades had given him and confirming that both matched perfectly.

"Let’s see... from where I’m standing, the Underworld should be roughly northeast," he said while extending his right hand in that direction.

"Let’s get moving then. We need to cover at least half the distance within the next 20 hours."

Arthur spoke while tapping the Cosmic Teleporter and generating a cosmic gate, and as the portal leading toward the coordinates he’d gotten from the star map opened, Pheldir couldn’t help staring at the Cosmic Teleporter with an unreadable expression in his eyes.

Cattleya noticed immediately, and she glanced toward Arthur before speaking openly, without caring that Pheldir could hear her.

"Are you sure you should be letting him see that thing? Even if he’s your father’s Arbiter, the fewer people that know about it, the better."

She had a point. The fewer people who knew about the existence of the Cosmic Teleporter, especially gods, the better it was for Arthur.

Faced with her concern, Arthur responded telepathically.

’Don’t worry, mum. I’ll make sure he never gets the chance to tell anyone about it.’

"!"

Cattleya’s eyes widened slightly when his voice suddenly echoed inside her head, and she immediately looked toward him in surprise, while Arthur only smiled like a child who’d successfully pulled off a prank before stepping into the portal.

Cattleya followed after him, and because of the sudden revelation that Arthur could use telepathic communication, she completely missed the ominous undertone behind his words when he said he’d make sure Pheldir never got the opportunity to tell anyone about the Cosmic Teleporter.

The trio, with the aid of the Cosmic Teleporter, crossed several galaxies within the local group they had arrived in, gradually closing the distance to the Underworld.

After 20 hours of uninterrupted travel, they stopped to rest for a while so Arthur could infuse cosmic energy into the Cosmic Teleporter and recharge it slightly before they resumed the journey once more.

They continued travelling toward the Underworld until they reached a point where, from outside the galaxy they were currently in, they could see the immense dark barrier surrounding the Underworld supercluster with their bare eyes.

That was how close they had gotten.

It was right after they stepped out of the Cosmic Teleporter and Arthur looked up toward the planet’s sun hanging high in the sky, that Pheldir’s bracelet suddenly began to glow.

The alternating black and white light immediately caught Arthur’s attention, and he turned toward Pheldir just in time to see the man tap the bracelet, causing the glow to change from black and white to deep red.

Pheldir’s expression darkened instantly.

"Category 1?!"

The man hurriedly searched through his clothing before pulling out a phone-like device, rapidly scrolling through it and opening something that made his expression worsen even further.

He immediately snapped his gaze toward Arthur and Cattleya.

"Your Highnesses, there’s an emergency. I..."

He stopped speaking when he saw the cold look in Cattleya’s eyes, but after biting his lip, he forced himself to continue.

"I have to leave. It’s a Category 1 emergency. All nearby Arbiters have been summoned."

Arthur raised his eyebrow at that and asked, "A summons? Does that summons override the order you were given by your King?"

As though he had expected that question already, Pheldir silently shook his head before replying.

"The oath we Arbiters swear when we receive our titles compels us to abandon whatever we’re doing and answer a special summons. They’re emergencies, dangers on galactic scales, and unless His Majesty personally issues a direct order overriding the summons, then I have no choice but to abandon whatever task I’m carrying out and respond."

"Huh? But my dad clearly ordered you to bring us to the Underworld," Arthur said.

Pheldir shook his head once again.

"Yes, His Majesty did order me to bring you to the Underworld, but he didn’t issue that order through his Authority as King."

Understanding immediately appeared in Arthur’s eyes while Cattleya frowned as she, too, understood exactly what Pheldir meant.

Hades’ instruction to escort her and Arthur to the Underworld had indeed been an order from their King, but not one backed by the Authority of the King of the Underworld itself. And currently, that was the only thing capable of overriding the oath Pheldir had sworn.
