Hera could not believe her eyes.
She had rushed over as fast as she could after sensing Hades’ Domain Declaration over the capital planet of Olympus and arrived to see the entirety of the Olympion galaxy covered in darkness.
When she split that darkness and destroyed Hades’ Domain, she was met with a harrowing sight.
Athena, Apollo, Ares, and Dionysus were all corpses. Hermes had lost one leg. Artemis was holding Apollo’s lifeless body, her body immobilised and being dragged into the depths of the Underworld by Hades’ unseen hands of darkness.
Golden blood was splattered everywhere, and Hades stood atop the ruins of Apollo’s chariot, in the middle of the throne hall of the gods, which was now half-crumbled from the impact of the chariot crashing straight into the building.
Words could not describe the shock she felt.
Her expression immediately contorted into rage, blue divinity erupting from her body.
However, before Hera could make a move, Hades summoned his sword and raised his left hand, pointing the blade at her as he declared coldly,
Stay out of this, sister, or I’ll add you to the list of corpses for today.
For a moment after he spoke, there was pin-drop silence, and immense invisible pressure descended upon Hera’s body as Hades, for the first time, stopped using cosmic energy to conceal his Existence Realm, allowing Hera to see with her own eyes that Hades did not possess the same power she remembered.
She flinched instinctively, and in that moment, Hades paused, his lips parting as he said, "Wait a second, you’re his wife. You should serve as better bait than his children."
Immediately, the look in Hades’ eyes changed, the disinterest in Hera being replaced by something else.
Hera’s fingers twitched, and in that second, close to three dozen ten-ringed spell circles formed around her, all aimed at Hades.
But before any of those spells could activate, spears of darkness materialised and pierced through all their cores, shattering them in a split second.
In that same split second, Hades closed the distance to Hera, his sword swinging straight toward her neck, but Hera was already moving to evade before Hades had even begun his attack, forcing her body forward despite the backlash from her spells being destroyed.
Magic power poured out of her hands as she conjured another spell circle, the eleven-ringed construct appearing directly in front of Hades’ face and unleashing an explosion of divinity that swallowed Aetherion’s skies.
However, Hades burst out through the flames completely unscathed, and the instant he did, Hera’s magic power erupted around her in complex runes and spell circles that stacked atop one another in rapid succession, beams of divinity firing off at Hades from behind him.
Hades’ swords moved so fast they blurred in Hera’s vision as they cut through all the light beams, releasing thin slashes of darkness law energy that split her spell circles to pieces before they could activate.
Hera inverted gravity, pulling his body down before his blade could arc toward her neck, then slammed her palms together, creating an orb of spells that trapped Hades and detonated together, releasing a galactic-level impact within the enclosed space.
Despite all this, Hades’ sword pierced out of the entrapment, shattering the barrier of divinity Hera had formed around her body and piercing into her left shoulder.
The man teleported directly in front of his sword, the small flame burning in his hair instantly extinguished as he grabbed the blade and turned it, drawing a groan of pain from Hera as his other hand clamped around her neck.
Without hesitation, he dragged her downward, slamming her body into the centre throne of the half-destroyed throne hall, forcing his blade deeper and piercing through her body, pinning her to the throne itself.
Sparks of lightning divinity erupted and burned through her body as Hades’ sword pierced the throne of power, but Hades continued to press his blade forward, even after it came out through the far side of the throne, until the guard of the blade pressed against Hera’s skin.
Even though Hera had managed to destroy Hades’ Domain, that did not mean she possessed Authorities or raw power comparable to his.
She had only held the terrain advantage as Aetherion was the capital of Olympus and she was its Queen.
Hera wasn’t even restricted like Ares had been, since Hades’ Domain was destroyed, but even then, she couldn’t hold her ground and was defeated in seconds.
Blood dripped from Hera’s lips as Hades held her by the throat, and then he said in a sarcastic voice, "Hm. The look on the throne fits you well. Maybe you should’ve been king instead."
She glared at him with bloodshot eyes, and seeing this, Hades then spoke. "Hey Hera, how do you feel seeing the corpse of your beloved children on the floor?"
He asked this even though he knew he was choking her so tightly she couldn’t breathe properly, much less speak.
Then again, he wasn’t really expecting an answer from her.
"I wonder how he’d react if he came to meet your corpse as well?"
Hades’ grip on Hera’s neck began to tighten, and she grabbed his arm, trying to pull it away. However, her strength was no match for his as he slowly continued to tighten his grip around the goddess’s neck.
For all the conflicts the six children of Kronos had endured over hundreds of thousands of years, not once had things escalated to this point, and not once had Hera ever seen this look in Hades’ eyes.
’!!’
In that moment, she instinctively understood.
Hades right now was truly going to kill her.
Just as divinity coursed up Hades’ arm, the distant rumbling of thunder echoed, and Hades stopped tightening his grip, his lips curling into a smile as he turned around.
"Finally."
He released Hera, leaving her pinned against the throne as he turned just in time for a blue flash to drop from the skies along with a furious roar.
HADESSSSS!!!!!!
The powerful blue divinity descended upon the throne room, and Hades, swinging his blade wrapped in cosmic energy and dense darkness, met the blue lightning head-on without flinching.
The two forces clashed and instantly cracked the fabric of space like glass, and a second later, space shattered completely, time beginning to distort as the divinities of the two Monarchs violently pressed against one another.
The ground beneath them began to crumble as what was left of the throne hall of the Twelve Olympians collapsed, all of the thrones within it destroyed.
Shockwaves tore through the land, throwing Hera across the earth as the planet’s crust finally fractured, lava bursting upward from beneath.
The two divinities kept pressing against each other until they reached a critical point and detonated, releasing violent bursts of energy that sent both Zeus and Hades flying backwards.
Zeus instantly elementalized his body and zapped toward Hades, his enraged voice echoing across the galaxy.
DIVINE TREASURE RELEASE!
At the same time, Hades muttered under his breath, "True Form Release."
Hades’ body grew from its original six feet to three times that height, his divinity erupting outward as he swung his blade to meet Zeus’ Astrape, now more jagged than before.
Golden blood seeped into the blue lightning erupting from the weapon, and Zeus’ body enlarged to match Hades’ size as he also unleashed his True Form. His white hair turned into pure lightning, and his eyes crackled with divinity as he swung his bolt toward Hades, only for each strike to be deflected by Hades’ Stygian iron blade.
Even so, between Hades’ sword and Zeus’ Divine Treasure, one of the three forged by the Cyclops brothers, there was a clear difference in fundamental quality and Weapon Authority.
Slowly, cracks began to appear on Hades’ blade, while Astrape remained completely unscathed.
Hades, however, wasn’t bothered by it.
’I expected this much,’ he thought.
He deflected another of Zeus’ strikes and then conjured a small, shining black orb of cosmic energy and divinity, placing it in the path of Zeus’ next attack.
The moment Astrape sliced through that orb, it exploded with the force of a multigalactic annihilation event, engulfing and obliterating all planets and stars within several hundred light-years, except Aetherion, which had been reinforced over millions of years by the cosmic energy of the universe itself, granting it durability capable of enduring attacks that could destroy even galaxies.
Despite the force of his attack, which could erase everything within the Olympion galaxy and its surrounding supercluster when concentrated onto a single target, Zeus emerged with only a few flesh wounds.
Hades, on the other hand, was naturally unharmed, as he was completely immune to the effects of his own powers.
He snapped his fingers, and a rift tore open in the distorted space. Reaching into it, he pulled out a long weapon that caused Zeus’ eyes to widen.
A scythe.
It looked like something a farmer would use, but the enormous amount of divinity it radiated, along with the signature of that divinity, caused Zeus to freeze instinctively for a moment.
In that moment, Hades closed the distance, pouring cosmic energy into the scythe and activating the runes inscribed across its handle as he swung it straight toward Zeus’ neck.
Zeus immediately snapped out of his daze and raised Astrape to meet the scythe.
However, before the two weapons could collide, a trident pierced out of space and into the gap between them, the fork of the trident catching Hades’ scythe while the spike at the opposite end deflected Astrape, blocking both attacks as immense shockwaves rippled across space.
At the same time, flames erupted behind Hades, and two pairs of hands reached out, grabbing his arms and pulling him back, preventing him from using the scythe’s ability to skip through time and ignore the trident that had blocked his slash by moving his attack to a point in time where the trident didn’t exist in that space.
STOP IT, BOTH OF YOU!
A voice boomed as the owner of the trident fully materialised in space, his glowing green eyes filled with anger as he looked at his two brothers who had been trying to kill each other with their attacks moments ago.
Ignoring him, Hades lowered his eyes to the arms holding him.
"Hestia. Demeter. Let go of me," he said, his voice turning colder as he added, "before I make you."
Instantly, the two goddesses who had pulled him away flinched and released their hold on him.
He infused cosmic energy into the scythe, raising it once more with the intent to attack again, and seeing this, Poseidon immediately turned toward Hades and pointed his trident at him.
Hades—!
|Don’t even start, Poseidon,| Hades said, cutting him off. |Or I’ll make you join Zeus and our father in the depths of Tartarus.|
The runes on the scythe Hades held glowed brighter as he spoke, and Poseidon’s expression became tense as he understood exactly what that meant.
’He can activate the runes on the scythe! That means he’s gained the ability to use that strange ’cosmic energy’ our father wielded!’
After defeating Kronos, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus discovered the existence of cosmic energy while trying to harness the power of Kronos’ scythe for themselves, realising that the runes engraved on the weapon, which allowed one to utilise its true power, could only be activated with cosmic energy, as the scythe was a cosmic weapon.
The fact that those runes were now glowing while the scythe was in Hades’ hands naturally meant that Hades could now use cosmic energy, just as their father once had.
What’s more, Hades’ Existence Realm was far beyond what either of them remembered.
The last time they had checked, Hades wasn’t a Superior Stage Monarch, but here he was as one, and not merely an ordinary Superior Stage Monarch, but one who had reached the Cosmic Limit of the Monarch Realm and had already taken a step toward the Primogenial Realm above it, a level neither Poseidon nor Zeus could attain because they had not achieved Cosmic Superiority.
Hades casually twirled the scythe around his fingers, the weapon spinning through space as though it weighed nothing, before dashing toward Zeus, who had already elementalized his body and moved around Poseidon, charging straight at Hades.
The two of them shot toward each other with obvious intent to clash once more, but Hestia moved between them and thrust her hand forward, unleashing a stream of flames directly at Hades, while Poseidon, his eyes glowing as he activated his Unique Authority, swung his trident and collided with Zeus’ lightning, forcing Zeus to rematerialize his physical body.
Enormous volumes of pure water burst out from Poseidon’s body, crashing into Zeus in a powerful pressurised torrent that knocked the lightning god backwards.
Poseidon then swung his trident downward, slamming Zeus onto the ruined surface of Aetherion, and at the same time, Hades swung Kronos’ scythe, slicing through Hestia’s flames with ease.
The moment he saw Poseidon knock Zeus down, he instantly teleported, emerging from Poseidon’s shadow and swinging the scythe downward with full intent to cleave through both Poseidon and Zeus in a single attack.
However, before the scythe could even reach Poseidon, Hestia appeared in front of him and reached out to grab the weapon, pushing back against Hades’ strength with her arms engulfed in flames, the blade of the scythe stopping dangerously close to the side of her neck.
