After sending Qin Xue off, Xu Xiangbei pulled Guo Lijun to head towards Xinglin Street.
The area wasn’t crowded, because it was already around 11 PM. There were fewer cars coming and going, but most of them were luxury vehicles.
Qin Xue’s house wasn’t far from Guo Lijun’s, just two or three kilometers away, and they’d be at the destination soon.
"Where’s your house? I’ll drop you off at the door!" Xu Xiangbei started acting considerate as soon as he got off the car.
Guo Lijun regarded him with her captivating eyes, staring at him directly for a good ten seconds, making him feel a bit guilty.
Xu Xiangbei quickly surrendered, raising his hands, "Don’t look at me like that, I know I’m very handsome. After all, it’s late at night and it’s unsafe for a girl to be alone; it’s easy to run into perverts or hooligans. Having a man around for protection is safer, plus I’m pretty skilled!"
"Alright!" Guo Lijun hesitated for a moment before biting her lip and agreeing.
The two walked side by side, with Xu Xiangbei constantly trying to get closer and engaging in small talk, causing Guo Lijun to laugh repeatedly.
They walked into a luxurious residential area, where there was a security check at the entrance — a middle-aged uncle in his forties or fifties. He looked amiable, dressed in a security uniform, with a few white hairs but still vibrant and energetic.
"Oh, Officer Guo is back, is this your boyfriend?" The security uncle broke into a smile, giving off a refreshing feeling.
"Uncle Wang, stop teasing me, he’s just a friend, a regular friend!" Guo Lijun blushed, speaking a bit shyly.
"Oh, trying to hide from me, I’ve been here for over ten years. I know everyone in this complex. You moved here three years ago, I’ve never seen you bring a man back before, and now suddenly you bring one back. Is he not your boyfriend?"
The security uncle persisted relentlessly.
Guo Lijun’s face reddened even more, but she still argued, "Uncle Wang, we’re really just regular friends!"
Unexpectedly, the security uncle gave a knowing look, chuckling as he said, "I understand, I understand, young folks these days are like this, see, just a few words and you’re blushing."
Guo Lijun stomped her foot, "Uncle Wang, I’m ignoring you!"
Saying that, she dragged Xu Xiangbei away quickly, leaving him staring at Guo Lijun’s face red as a cherry, filled with amusement.
Seeing her girlish demeanor, he found her both adorable and funny.
"Stop laughing, what are you laughing at!" Guo Lijun, seeing Xu Xiangbei’s smug face, pinched him with her fingers.
"Ouch, stop pinching, let me laugh a bit more!" Xu Xiangbei quickly begged for mercy.
Guo Lijun turned her face away, pretending to be angry, "Laugh again! Laugh again! I’m ignoring you!"
"Okay! Okay! I won’t laugh anymore, I won’t laugh!" Xu Xiangbei worried she’d really get angry and quickly covered his mouth, though his stomach still hurt a bit from laughing.
"Where do you live?"
"Didn’t you already come in? Liangyuan District, Building 38, Room 4013. You’ve already dropped me off here, you can head back now!"
Xu Xiangbei couldn’t possibly let such a great opportunity slip away — in the middle of the night, alone together, a beautiful night and a lovely lady — how could he miss it? He immediately exercised his cheeky ability.
"How could you burn bridges and get rid of me like an unwanted donkey? I’ve kindly brought you here, yet you won’t even let me have a glass of water!"
Guo Lijun turned back, staring at him straight on as if she wanted to see through him.
Xu Xiangbei pretended to pat his face, teasing, "Why are you always staring at me? Is there a flower on my face? Or are you in love at first sight, bewitched by my piercing eyes, charming face, handsome posture, righteous heart, thus losing your soul!"
Guo Lijun’s pretty face reddened as she coldly rebuked, "Narcissism, extreme narcissism!"
Leaving Xu Xiangbei behind, she flung her hand and walked away.
Xu Xiangbei immediately chased after her, pleading and begging, coaxing and tricking, until Guo Lijun finally agreed to let him into her home for some tea.
Following closely behind Guo Lijun, he could only swallow as he watched her mesmerizing figure, thoroughly taking in the beauty before him.
"We’re here!"
"Bang!"
"Ah, what are you doing?" Guo Lijun turned around, finding Xu Xiangbei had directly bumped into her, their faces pressing tightly together, his lips landing on her right cheek.
"Oh, sorry, I accidentally zoned out and bumped into you." Xu Xiangbei held Guo Lijun tightly, showing no intention of letting go, nor any sign of apology on his face.
"Aren’t you going to remove those paws of yours?" Guo Lijun’s face was flushed like a monkey’s butt, smelling the masculine aura emanating from Xu Xiangbei, causing a mix of annoyance and a hint of excitement.
She came to her senses and struggled to free herself from Xu Xiangbei’s grasp.
"Oh, sorry, I was afraid you’d accidentally fall, so I held onto you!"
Xu Xiangbei reluctantly let go, but his eyes still gleamed with delight.
He had been so busy admiring Guo Lijun’s lovely figure, too absorbed, thus accidentally bumping into her, yet because of this, he got a sweet moment in return; not bad, not bad!
Guo Lijun took out the key and opened the door, with Xu Xiangbei nonchalantly slipping in.
He carefully surveyed the room, very spacious with three bedrooms and a living room, neatly arranged in the middle.
"You don’t even change into slippers, getting my floor dirty," grumbled Guo Lijun as she removed her shoes.
"There aren’t any slippers suitable for me. Besides, my shoes are clean. I was planning to just come in for a cup of tea and leave. You’re implying that you want me to stay longer, I understand, I understand!"
Guo Lijun poured him a cup of tea, glancing at him, "Once you finish the tea, leave. I’m going to change and take a bath!"
Saying that, she ignored Xu Xiangbei, went into the bedroom, gathered some clothes, and headed to the bathroom.
Xu Xiangbei sat on the sofa, drinking tea and watching Guo Lijun’s graceful silhouette. Hearing her mention taking a bath, his heart couldn’t help but flutter uncontrollably.
He kept drinking tea, trying to extinguish the fiery passion burning within.
The sound of water from the bathroom made Xu Xiangbei feel like he was grilling over a fire, imagining a lovely figure showering. He was tempted to take a peek at the beauty, rising, intending to head towards the bathroom.
"Don’t you dare peek!"
Hearing this, Xu Xiangbei’s face was full of helplessness, eventually sitting back down, turning again and again, indecisive and unsettled.
Finally, Guo Lijun emerged from the bathroom with her hair wrapped in a bathrobe, showcasing her slender legs, ivory shoulders, and beautiful features, coupled with a stunning figure, driving Xu Xiangbei crazy.
Xu Xiangbei swallowed hard, his mouth dry as he spoke, "Beauty, you’re seducing me, you know? Be careful I don’t commit a crime!"
Guo Lijun licked her red lips, beckoning him with a finger, her expression utterly captivating.
"I’m seducing you into crime? Do you dare?"
"Why wouldn’t I? To die under a peony flower, I’d still be amorous as a ghost!" Xu Xiangbei said, starting to take off his outer clothes.
"Forget it, I’m just teasing you!" Guo Lijun turned and sat opposite Xu Xiangbei, crossing her legs in a casual posture that left him staring.
"You can’t do this, you’ve already lit my fire, how can you not extinguish it!" Xu Xiangbei felt played and complained bitterly.
"Actually, I was testing you to see if you’re a gentleman, if you’d peek at me showering. But I found your restraint commendable. Now, we can discuss what’s next."
Seeing Xu Xiangbei’s wandering gaze, Guo Lijun quickly fixed her robe, concealing her figure.
"Discuss what?"
Xu Xiangbei realized the feast he’d hoped for was off-limits, showing a look of sheer reluctance.
"I hope you can find my ex-boyfriend’s murderer, bring his life over, or capture him. Any condition, name it. If you want money, as long as I can, I’ll give it to you. If you want a person, I can give you my entire body to enjoy."
Guo Lijun spoke calmly, eyes filled with determination yet revealing sorrow.
"I’ve already promised to handle this for you, so why say this?" Xu Xiangbei showed helplessness; though he liked money and beautiful women, he disliked such deals.
"If your words were reliable, pigs would climb trees! There’s no free lunch in the world; this principle I understand!"
