Listening to Elder Zhang Yide speak, Xu Xiangbei and his group felt they had gained a lot. Huaxia’s five-thousand-year history is profound; although some ancient systems were closed and backward, certain cultures are deeply rooted in the blood of us descendants of Yan and Huang and should not be forgotten.
Around the afternoon, Xu Xiangbei and his group had mostly toured Mandarin Duck Lake, and their boat began to dock.
A young man about 25 years old walked towards them, wearing a navy-blue suit with high-end leather shoes, a dark green tie with embroidered edges, a gold watch peeking from his cuffs, light complexion, round face, about 1.7 meters tall, followed by two tall and imposing bodyguards. His name was Zhao Yuanji, an inheritor of a high-end banquet hotel at Mandarin Duck Lake Scenic Area, the largest hotel in the area, incredibly luxurious, claimed to be five-star, worth billions.
"Hey, Old Zhang, will you sell the land on the south side of the scenic area or not? I’ve already offered a very high baseline price, ten thousand per square meter, so don’t be too greedy!" Zhao Yuanji shouted as he approached, clearly in a bad mood.
Seeing Xu Xiangbei and his group, especially the Gu Family Sisters, nearby, his eyes lit up, and he quickly coughed twice.
"Cough! Cough!"
"Ladies, hello! I’m the sole inheritor of the Penglai Hotel in Mandarin Duck Lake Scenic Area. My name is Zhao Yuanji, pleased to meet you!" After speaking, he extended his hand, hoping to shake hands with the Gu Family Sisters one by one, but no one paid him any attention, leaving his hand awkwardly hanging in the air for a long time.
He retracted his hand in embarrassment, with a hint of anger in his eyes, although he concealed it well.
"Young Master Zhao, that land is my ancestral land, where countless ancestors are worshipped; I will not sell it!" Elder Zhang’s words were powerful and fearless.
Not only Zhao Yuanji, but many others are eyeing the land; his offer is the lowest. This scenic area can be said to be worth its weight in gold! The average housing price is over fifty thousand per square meter, and that land is prime real estate, yet he only offered a little over ten thousand, clearly a scam.
"People die every day in this world, and some people occasionally have accidents and end up disabled, or worse. Who knows, maybe your grandson will get hit by a car on his way to school one day and end up a vegetable or permanently disabled, which is not good. Or look at you with your frail arms and aging legs, they might snap with a gentle fall one day. It’s best to maintain harmony, don’t you agree? As they say, money is external." Zhao Yuanji’s words were a bit sinister, clearly threatening.
"A clear conscience fears no shadows, and I, Zhang Yide, walk upright and sit upright. Even if I go to hell, I’d stand by my ancestors. I will not be threatened by you; under daylight and bright skies, I refuse to believe Huaxia’s laws can’t deal with you. Threaten me all you want; you can offer any price, whether it’s ten thousand, a hundred thousand, or a million per square meter; I won’t sell unless you kill me!" Elder Zhang’s words were resolute, filled with extraordinary charm and style. His stance was akin to risking all for keeping one’s integrity, reminiscent of leaving a noble spirit for posterity, brave and fearless, reminiscent of resolute incorruptibility.
"Haha, I really admire your courage. Then let’s see if Huaxia’s law bears the surname Zhang or Zhao. Let’s see if it can deal with me!" Zhao Yuanji, now extremely angry, his face distorted, laughing maniacally without regard for decency, immediately signaled to the two bodyguards beside him.
Understanding the cue, one bodyguard, a burly man, stepped forward and grabbed Elder Zhang Yide.
"What are you doing? Let me tell you, this is intentional harm, you’ll be held criminally responsible!" Elder Zhang’s hands were squeezed red by the bodyguards, his face slightly purple, yet he showed no fear and argued strenuously.
"Intentional harm, who’s seen it?" Zhao Yunji arrogantly said, glancing at the surrounding onlookers, who all wisely lowered their heads, afraid to meet his gaze.
"I saw it!" Before Gu Xinyan could argue, Xu Xiangbei had already spoken up to confirm it.
"Kid, meddling can get you killed easily. Don’t think you can play hero in front of these beauties. Do you know how much I’m worth? If I get a scratch, you wouldn’t know how much you’ll have to pay. But as for you, even if I have you beaten into a pulp and hospitalized, I can afford it. Play with me and watch out; you might not even know how you die!" Zhao Yuanji, increasingly arrogant, eyes flaring with anger, looked ready to hit Xu Xiangbei.
"Oh, I’m so scared!" Xu Xiangbei feigned a terrified look, clutching his chest as he stepped back, clearly challenging Zhao Yuanji: You clown, come if you dare! Making the Gu Family Sisters and Xiao Qiulian’s mother and daughter laugh.
"You..." Zhao Yuanji felt insulted, as if his intelligence was being demeaned.
"Today, I want him carried into the hospital horizontally; I’ll pay for the medical expenses," Zhao Yuanji shouted aggressively, signaling directly to a bodyguard beside him.
The bodyguard immediately swung his arms and prepared to attack Xu Xiangbei. This bodyguard wasn’t just big but often engaged in fights and knew some basic offensive moves, swinging his fist directly toward Xu Xiangbei’s right cheek.
The speed was very fast, and the force was very strong. If a normal person took the hit, they’d definitely be knocked to the ground unable to get up, even lose a few front teeth and spew blood, which would be normal. But who was Xu Xiangbei? He was far from ordinary.
Watching the approaching fist, the people around exclaimed, but only the Gu Family Sisters remained calm. Xu Xiangbei stood there as if stunned by the punch coming at him as big as a sandbag, yet he didn’t move.
Just at the crucial moment, Xu Xiangbei lifted his hand gently, accurately grasping the incoming fist in the air, leaving the surrounding people astonished.
At this moment, the bodyguard in black felt as if his hand was caught in a clamp, extremely painful, and despite his efforts, he couldn’t pull it out.
Xu Xiangbei then squeezed lightly, and the bodyguard felt as if his hand was broken. His whole body trembled, his face turned crimson, as if enduring enormous pain, trying desperately to swing his left fist at Xu Xiangbei’s face, only to have it caught accurately by Xu Xiangbei.
Xu Xiangbei lifted his leg and gently kicked, sending the bodyguard flying four or five meters away, lying on the ground, struggling and moaning, spewing a mouthful of fresh blood unable to retaliate anymore.
"Go, absolutely cripple him for me, and I’ll give you a bonus, ten thousand yuan!" Zhao Yuanji’s face changed with a hint of panic, shouting angrily at the bodyguard holding Zhang Yide’s hand, seemingly wanting to devour Xu Xiangbei.
The bodyguard understood, his face showing shock while cautiously aware knowing Xu Xiangbei was a skilled practitioner and had high martial abilities, yet he still had confidence in himself. Swiftly pulling out an electric baton from his belt and poised himself ready to attack Xu Xiangbei.
He was very confident; the electric baton could emit one hundred thousand volts of electricity, ensuring whoever, no matter how skilled, would immediately faint upon contact. At that moment, regardless of their martial strength, they’d be a lamb ready for slaughter.
His speed was very fast, holding the electric baton as he charged at Xu Xiangbei, swiftly swinging it aimed at him. Normally, trained individuals with basic combat skills couldn’t evade such an attack.
Xu Xiangbei had no choice but to block, as the bodyguard’s face showed increasing excitement, anticipating the scene of Xu Xiangbei being electrocuted to the ground, at his mercy.
Xiangbei’s hand contacted the electric baton mid-air, creating a loud thud, and the bodyguard’s face instantly relaxed, filled with smugness. Yet, when he saw Xu Xiangbei unharmed, standing before him, his face was filled with disbelief as if he’d seen a ghost.
Xu Xiangbei knew he couldn’t dodge the strike, so he used True Qi in front of his arm forming an insulating layer. Thus, while it appeared he contacted the baton, he actually didn’t touch it, making electrocution impossible.
Before the bodyguard could react, Xu Xiangbei punched directly at his abdomen. The bodyguard spit blood, his face turned purple, as he fell clutching his stomach, writhing on the ground, screaming as if enduring extreme pain, like a struggling shrimp.
