"Go through the window!!!"

The Silver-Haired Guy realized that if they couldn't use the door, they could still use the windows.

They quickly found a window on the first floor. It wasn't big, but it was just large enough for a person to squeeze through.

However, what they hadn't expected was that at some point, thick iron bars had been installed on this window. These weren't the kind that could be opened for freedom.

They pushed open one window and ran their hands over the iron bars. The bars were terrifyingly thick.

"Let's check the other windows. I refuse to believe they're all like this."

The group then went around checking the other windows.

Most of them were the same.

Of course, the first floor had floor-to-ceiling windows and other similarly large windows.

These windows were made of single enormous panes of glass. All they had to do was break the glass and they could get out.

At this point, the group couldn't afford to worry about whether they'd have to pay for damages anymore. Paying compensation was far better than paying with their lives. So the three young men took turns kicking the glass, only to discover that its quality was absurdly good.

"Everyone, move aside!"

The Pimply Guy grabbed a chair from beside the large table in the first-floor library.

He used the chair legs to furiously smash at the glass.

The result? Other than covering the glass with his spit, he accomplished absolutely nothing.

The three men took turns smashing it several times, targeting the corners, the center, and various other spots.

They discovered that no matter what, they couldn't break it.

"This must be glass manufactured by our own country..."

"Damn it all!!!"

The Silver-Haired Guy swung once more, then gave up.

He bent over in despair, hands resting on his knees.

Everyone else wore bitter expressions.

They never would have imagined that the Hua Country glass they'd once heard was terrifyingly strong, something they'd actually felt proud of, would become their prison.

But now, they truly wished Hua Country glass was complete garbage.

"Let's check upstairs."

Lin Yu had been timing them on his phone, five minutes.

Now, only two and a half minutes remained.

The library in Alice Apartment was three stories tall.

All three floors were packed with dense rows of books. Of course, the first and second floors held more popular selections, such as novels, romance, history, and similar genres.

The third floor was entirely filled with reference books on engineering, medicine, computer technology, and other practical subjects.

The group ran up to the second floor, only to find the windows were exactly like the ones on the first floor.

They then rushed to the third floor.

And the third floor was just like its two identical brothers.

By now, only one minute remained.

Panic gripped the entire group.

Lin Yu dialed the police, urging them to hurry and save them.

But distant water couldn't quench a nearby fire.

He then opened the WeChat group for the fourteen of them.

He discovered that even after all this time, no one in the group had responded.

"Damn it, are these people all mute?!"

Lin Yu looked at his girlfriend, Zheng Zihan.

"Zihan, do you have access to this apartment complex's residents' group chat or something like that?"

Zheng Zihan nodded.

Lin Yu said, "Give me your phone. I need to send out an SOS in that group!!!"

Zheng Zihan handed over her phone, and Lin Yu quickly posted a distress message in the group chat.

Then he returned the phone to Zheng Zihan and sent a private message to the Green-haired Guy:

"What the hell are you doing? Didn't I tell you to go get help? Why haven't you come back yet!?"

"If you don't show up soon, we're going to die in this library! Hurry up and bring people! There's a psycho killer here!!!"

After sending all of that.

The final minute of the five passed silently.

And with it, the manhunt for those two on the first floor officially began.

The swimming pool.

Jiang Ran listened to the Danger Warning System's alerts ringing in his mind and didn't dare approach.

Under normal circumstances, if he encountered someone with a danger warning inside Alice Apartment, he would still dare to go up and talk to them.

But now...

There was a corpse lying in a pool of blood over there, and a dangerous individual standing right beside it. How could he know whether this person was the killer?

Jiang Ran certainly didn't dare approach. However, he suddenly noticed that the Green-haired Guy beside him was striding forward without a care in the world.

"Hey, who are you? What are you doing here?"

The Green-haired Guy called out loudly to the person who had his back to them.

Hearing the voice, that person turned around and looked at the Green-haired Guy, then at Jiang Ran further behind.

"Me? My name is Ling Feng. I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night, so I came out for a stroll. I saw the lights on over here and thought I'd check out what was happening. I never expected to find a dead body."

Jiang Ran didn't have much of a reaction upon hearing the young man's name was Ling Feng. What surprised him was something else entirely, because he'd assumed the Green-haired Guy had walked up because he knew this person.

Or perhaps this person was one of the fourteen? After all, the young man in front of them looked about the same age as the Green-haired Guy, no older than twenty at most.

Since the group of fourteen was too large in number, Jiang Ran couldn't possibly memorize all their builds and facial features from just a few glances.

And it turned out, this young man wasn't one of them at all!

So why would the Green-haired Guy just casually walk up to him?

"Tsk, I'm getting ahead of myself. After all, not everyone has a danger warning. I'm the only one. I know this guy is dangerous, but this green-haired kid has no idea."

What Jiang Ran also didn't know was this:

If Zhang Le, the guy who loved music and loved making instruments out of human bones, were here, he'd be extremely excited to see this young man named Ling Feng.

Excited enough to want to chop him to death.

Because...

This was the guy who, back at the apartment, had seen Zhang Le staring blankly at the wall, tried to lure him into his home to turn him into an instrument, and then stabbed Zhang Le in the kidney with a knife the moment he turned around.

After that, Zhang Le was rescued by Yang Qi, who'd come out to deliver packages.

And this young man had disappeared without a trace.

"Is that so? I thought you might be the killer!"

The Green-haired Guy walked over, laughing loudly.

Jiang Ran, standing behind, felt cold sweat forming on his forehead.

Wait, is this guy always this humorous when he talks?

Facing such a humorous remark.

Ling Feng on the other side showed little reaction.

Calm as still water.

At that moment, Jiang Ran suddenly realized that this young man named Ling Feng reminded him of someone he knew. Not in terms of facial features or appearance, but in overall presence and temperament.

His thoughts raced, and finally, it hit him.

This Ling Feng gave off a similar vibe to Manager Wu Wen.

Both were the kind of people who were plain, quiet, and peaceful.

But they were two different kinds of plainness and quietness.

Jiang Ran couldn't find the words to describe it.

"Do you know this victim?"

Ling Feng asked the Green-haired Guy, who stood about a meter away.

The Green-haired Guy said, "He's my friend! He came here to swim, and someone killed him."

Ling Feng said, "That's rough. Well, did you call the police?"

The Green-haired Guy replied, "Yeah, I did. Now we're just waiting for the police officers to come handle it."

Ling Feng nodded. "Hope you find the killer soon."

"I won't stick around any longer. It's getting late."
