Greymoor Academy: I Accidentally Bonded With Four Lycan Royals!

"I didn’t even touch her."
Headmistress Atlas gave my knuckles a pointed look, while Tessa sniffled in the corner.
She could hardly fault me if Tessa’s demonstration had inspired me into punching her in the face. If I was going to get punished for something, best believe I was going to ensure I earned and deserved said punishment. By the time the guards had rushed in and separated us, I had broken her nose.
"Fighting in the dorm rooms is prohibited, Mrs. Adams. I am well aware you are only just getting settled back within the school’s system, but it doesn’t excuse your actions. You will apologize to Ms. Graham for punching her, and then you will report to the janitor, who will explain the details of hundred hour community service."
"Community service?" Tessa and I said in unison, and then Tessa added, "She was trying to kill me! She strangled me!" She gesticulated wildly at her self-induced bruised neck for effect.
"Of which I’m sure will be related back to the council, Ms. Graham. But within Greymoor, sadly, there are no death sentences for cat fights. Out," she said with impressive sternness, waving us off. But when I stood, she said, "Not you, Adams."
Tessa let out an infuriated breath and stumped out angrily.
Head Mistress Atlas reached for a file across her table and began flipping through the pages. "You were absent for close to half of your first year. Usually, this would amount to a redoing the entire year, but all of your assessments were passed with remarkably high scores and regardless of your... situation, it is undeniable that you were one of Greymoor’s best.
"Since the Council has ordered that you resume full participation in school activities for the duration of the pre-trial periods, your attendance, conduct, and performance here will be reported back to them. Think of it as jail time already being served." Her fingers entwined. "This is not optional, and how you conduct yourself going forward may or may not influence the severity of the final sentence."
All I could hear was the word ’bait’.
The fact that the Council thought I could lead whatever it was that had been taking the students here and were desperate enough to adopt drastic measures to keep the situation contained, so much so they were holding off my sentencing and calling it a ’pre-trial-prove-yourself-worthy’ period, told me everything I needed to know about the severity of the situation.
I itched the inside of my wrist as she continued, "Tomorrow, the second-year assessments are being held. You will sit for them, along with any outstanding first-year examinations you missed. Your results will be submitted directly to the Council."
She paused, hard eyes lowering to my collar. "I assume combat classes will be a lot more difficult with that thing around your neck. But you will receive no special treatments here, and will be expected to keep up with the others, as well as the new regimen that has been introduced into the curriculum."
"What new regimen?"
The Head Mistress relaxed in her seat. "The recent events have been a cause for alarm amongst the sponsors and parents. The Queen has ordered that combat and physical training take up more parts of the classes. Combat and Agility has been upped from twice a week to six times a week. There will be monthly competitions with our sister schools across the globe, and missions to teach the students how to track prey. And kill, if necessary. We realize how only teaching you how to defend yourselves might be at your disadvantage when it comes to an event of life and death."
I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to it.
It felt like the Queen was preparing us for something.
It felt like... like war.
"Something’s happening, isn’t it?" I sat forward. "It isn’t just one creature attacking the school, is it?"
Atlas went still. Then she said, "You will receive a copy of your schedule via mail. We’re done here."
But I already got my answer from her stiff expression.
Something had gone horribly wrong at Samhain.
I had just reached the door when she said, "Oh, and Adams?"
I looked back.
Headmistress Atlas regarded me for a long moment. The polite and stern mask she usually wore had hardened.
"You may be a criminal in the eyes of the Council," she said, "but within these walls, you are still a student of Greymoor. And as a student, you answer to me."
Her eyes held mine without blinking. "If you harm another student under my care, you will discover that the Council is not the only thing you should be afraid of."
Her tone remained calm and professional, but something underneath it felt like a threat, and my Lycan didn’t like that very much. Still, I nodded because I knew she was only doing her job.
Atlas leaned back slightly, the threat receding just enough to become civil again.
"One more thing. Mrs. Belarus is on maternity leave, and Mr. Ivanov will be overseeing her classes. He has assured me there will be no... incidents from his end." She watched me closely. "I expect the same from you."
She was asking if being tutored by my ex-mate—my husband—I still couldn’t figure out what we were to each other—would be too much for me to handle.
"There won’t be any," I said.
"Good." She looked back down at her files. "You are dismissed."

I spent the rest of the day picking and disposing thrash around the Academy, no thanks to Tessa. The students mostly steered clear of me—my little moment with Claire had spread like wildfire around the school and no one was willing to cross paths with me.
But I wasn’t delusional enough to think that would stave them off completely.
Some fourth year spat at my shoes as she walked past with her friends and snarled, "Cunt."
I could already tell I would be having the most eventful months of my life soon.
I spent the night studying until I was sure I had broken my brain. And by the time I stumbled into bed, I was too tired to think or brainstorm anymore plans. But I did walk back to the thrash and take out Quinlan’s shirt. And maybe it was a little pathetic of me, but putting it over my head calmed my Lycan enough into keeping her damned hole shut and letting me drift off to sleep.
A finger traveled up my calf, rousing me from sleep. My eyelashes fluttered, but I was too tired to keep them open.
The bed dipped somewhere to my left and I felt more fingers push up Quinlan’s shirt very slowly. "You’ve made me quite miserable, little mate. I thought I’d come return the favor, and here I find you in my shirt." A too-familiar voice said roughly, and I’d never had a more jarring wake up call than when two large hands grabbed my thighs and pulled them apart. "How delightful."
There was a blue eyed demon hovering above me. I screamed.
