The next day.
Seimei woke up naturally, feeling totally refreshed.
When he finally opened his eyes again, the winter sun was already high in the sky. Warm rays slipped through the gaps in the window and landed right on his face, making him squint a little.
He rolled over, stared at the ceiling for a bit longer, then finally sat up in bed.
After that, he stretched like his life depended on it and let out a satisfied groan. "Man, that felt good!"
He really had slept like a baby. No insane spiritual pressure crushing his body, no training schedule breathing down his neck; how could he not be relaxed?
"Phew~"
He let out a long breath, kicked off the covers, flipped out of bed, and landed lightly on the floor.
Then he headed out of the bedroom, washed up, threw on some casual clothes, and stepped outside to hunt down some food.
He'd already missed breakfast, no way was he skipping lunch too.
He finally had a full day off; he was gonna make up for every second of suffering he'd gone through over the past ten days.
So for the rest of that day, all he did was eat, chill, and have fun. Every now and then he'd pop a wood clone to quietly store up the chakra his body was naturally recovering.
Everything else training-related? Didn't touch it.
Just like that, the day flew by.
The next morning, he was up bright and early, left the village, and headed straight back to Moon Island.
The very first thing he did when he got there was scan the entire area to make sure nobody had snooped around while he was gone.
Normally he checked too, but it was pretty half-assed.
Now, though? Even though he'd silenced Ito and the others, there was a damn good chance Orochimaru had already pinpointed this place.
He couldn't afford to be sloppy anymore.
Good thing he had the Byakugan; sweeping the area wasn't exactly hard work.
It took him about ten minutes to thoroughly check everything within a ten-kilometer radius. Once he was sure nothing was off, he finally started the next round of training.
He'd already planned everything out ages ago.
From here on, it was just a matter of following the schedule.
Days turned into weeks.
Before he knew it, he was completely lost in the grind.
And you know how it is when you're in the zone; time just flies.
Blink of an eye, a whole month was gone.
That afternoon.
Seimei finished another "Peak of the Body" session, got back to the island, released the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, pulled back all his clones, and absorbed every bit of experience and memory they'd racked up over the last hour.
Right then, a weird surge of chakra rippled out from his body.
He immediately sat cross-legged on the ground.
His expression kept shifting, like he was wrestling with something inside.
And that's exactly what was happening.
After more than a month of steady progress, his Ice Release had finally hit the last bit of evolution points it needed.
It had officially broken through the old cap and reached the same level as his upgraded Wood Release: Mangekyo Sharingan tier.
Because of that, his very DNA was shifting. His bloodline limits were momentarily going haywire, frantically converting all his chakra into Ice Release chakra.
Right now he was doing everything he could to rein it in.
The problem was he also had to keep an eye on his other bloodlines and the changes happening to his body, so his control wasn't perfect.
Cold mist started leaking out of him in threads, spreading fast like thick fog until it blanketed the entire island.
Back when his Wood Release evolved, the leaked chakra just made the nearby plants grow a little lusher. No big deal.
But this Ice Release chakra? It carried the power to freeze everything solid. The second the grass and trees touched it, they withered and died in moments.
The small animals on the island were even worse off; the instant they got flash-frozen, they were gone.
Some of the bugs were tougher and had better danger instincts. They'd burrowed underground the moment the cold mist rolled in, so they were still hanging on for now.
Still, if this kept up much longer, every plant, bug, bird, and beast on Moon Island was gonna be wiped out. The whole place would turn into a frozen wasteland.
But right now? Seimei didn't have the bandwidth to care about any of that.
Every ounce of focus was on himself.
Minutes ticked by.
More than half an hour later, he finally opened his eyes again.
"Whewww~"
Surrounded by a world of ice and snow, he let out a long breath that turned into white mist and hung in the air forever.
He glanced ahead, then left and right, taking in the nearly lifeless island. His brows furrowed a little.
Crack, crack, crack.
He broke the ice crystals coating his body and stood up.
Looking at the entire island encased in frost, he thought for a second, then activated his Ice Release and pushed out a wave of chakra. In the blink of an eye it covered the whole island.
The chakra merged with the ice. With a single thought, every last crystal dissolved into nothing.
From how effortlessly he pulled that off, you could tell his mastery over Ice Release had reached absurd new heights; way beyond what he was capable of before.
Honestly? Compared to every ninja in history who'd ever awakened a bloodline limit, probably none of them could touch him when it came to Ice Release.
Because from what he could feel, controlling this level of Ice Release required at least 40 points in Spirit. Anything less and you'd be dead.
Even at exactly 40, you'd only barely survive. To truly command it, you needed 43 or higher. No exceptions.
Fall short of that, and even if you forced it open, you'd lose control the second it activated and the power would eat you alive.
And getting your Spirit stat above 40 without some insane lucky break? Only a handful of paths in the world could do it; opening the Rinnegan, stuff like that.
Paths normal people would never even dream of touching.
That's why Seimei was confident: throughout ninja history, nobody had ever understood Ice Release better than he did right now.
Not that it was worth bragging about.
Ice Release at this level was… fine. That's it.
He shook the thought off, looked at the barren island, thought for another moment, then reached out again and released a different wave of chakra.
This time it wasn't Ice Release; he used Wood Release, pumping out a massive amount of rich, life-filled Wood chakra.
Just like before, it swept across the island and sank deep into the earth.
The second that life energy hit the soil, every surviving root and seed woke up.
In literally the blink of an eye, the island went through a complete makeover. Fresh, vibrant greenery exploded everywhere. The dead, withered vibe was gone, replaced by pure life.
Even the bugs underground got a shot of Yang Release chakra and went from half-dead to bouncing around like nothing happened.
The only real shame was the animals; most of them had been frozen solid right at the start, so almost none survived.
But hey, nothing's perfect. Saving all the plants and bugs was already pretty impressive. The animals… well, he'd figure that out later.
For now, he just had to accept that Moon Island was basically a no-mammal zone.
