Late at night.

After dealing with the Demonized Creature attack on the city.

The night was already deep. Gu Sewei sat in her office in the Ice Jade Palace.

She lowered her head, writing a letter with a quill pen.

Faced with increasingly severe trials, Gu Sewei had no choice but to consider requesting outside help.

She was writing a letter to be delivered to the Human Empire.

After finishing the letter, she carefully affixed a Magic Seal.

Using a Magic Array, she sent the letter to the nearest Magic Association.

Once the Magic Association received it, they would relay the letter to the rulers of the Human Empire.

This service was not free.

Along with the letter, Gu Sewei placed some precious Magic Crystals into the Teleportation Array.

However, how long it would take to receive a reply from the Human Empire—or if there would be a reply at all—was uncertain.

This was the only thing Gu Sewei could do now.

Fred City was located in the Extreme North Icefield, isolated from the rest of the world for years, with almost no contact with the outside.

There weren’t many people Gu Sewei could turn to.

A demonic plague of this magnitude should be taken seriously by the Human Empire, the world’s largest ruling power.

Gu Sewei could only comfort herself with this thought.

She looked out the window. Tonight was a starless night.

Even the pale moonlight was gone.

It was as if Fred City had been abandoned by the world.

This afternoon, Li Wei had told Gu Sewei that he would be entering seclusion again for some time.

Gu Sewei had no reason to stop him.

Now, she alone had to shoulder the heavy responsibility of protecting Fred City.

That was why the idea of asking for help had occurred to her.

’It’s strange, though. Why didn’t I think of this before?’

Gu Sewei reflected.

’Is it because I believed that as long as Li Wei was here, any problem could be solved?’

Thinking of this, Gu Sewei couldn’t help but chuckle.

’It really is incredible.’

Li Wei once again entered seclusion to increase his strength.

He consumed the thousand-year-old Celestial Snow Lotus gifted by the Ice Queen, seizing the time to cultivate and increase his Mana.

Gu Sewei and Monice had both reached the Peak of the Professional realm.

Their Power could barely increase any further. The only path of advancement left for them was the Path of Legend.

But even now, Gu Sewei had yet to comprehend her own Path of Legend.

She didn’t know which way to go, or how to become stronger.

Only Li Wei was still able to continue improving his own strength.

After eating a petal of the Celestial Snow Lotus, Li Wei felt a surge of pure Magic Energy welling up from within his body.

He hurriedly began to meditate, absorbing this Power and converting it into his own Mana.

As his Mana grew, Li Wei’s Spiritual Power also continued to rise.

The Sun in his Sea of Heart shone brilliantly.

In the blink of an eye, half a year had passed since Li Wei arrived in the Extreme North Snowfield.

The Extreme North Snowfield had become even more desolate.

Fred City had become the only isolated outpost in the Extreme North Snowfield.

Beyond its walls, there were no safe places left.

Demonized Creatures roamed the Snowfield.

The people of Fred City had also adapted to the changes brought by the appearance of the Demonized Creatures.

However, the problem of food shortages was growing more severe.

Out of desperation, eating the flesh of Demonized Creatures had become the only way to survive.

Fortunately, after several months, there had been no victims who developed Demonization Syndrome from eating the flesh of Demonized Creatures.

For now, it seemed the only thing that caused people to contract Demonization Syndrome was parasite from a Demon Seed.

The people of Fred City called the process of Demonization "Demonization Syndrome."

Gu Sewei continuously sent letters to the Human Empire, but all of them vanished without a trace, receiving no reply.

She even began to suspect the Magic Association had pocketed her letters and Gemstones.

Fortunately, she finally received a reply half a month ago.

This allayed her suspicions about the Magic Association.

The reply was from a certain Prince of the Human Empire. He stated that he took the demonic plague very seriously and would soon send people to investigate and support Fred City.

In the letter, he also expressed his hope for Fred City’s support in helping him find something.

The Prince did not mention in the letter what he needed to find.

He only told Gu Sewei that his messenger would inform her.

Calculating the time since she received the reply, the Prince’s Messenger should be arriving in Fred City soon.

Gu Sewei was a little worried about the Prince’s Messenger’s safety.

If they weren’t strong enough, encountering Demonized Creatures would be extremely dangerous.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The sound of heavy footsteps, metal striking the ground, approached.

Monice walked into the palace, raised her right hand in a salute, and said, "Lord City Lord, a group of Demonized Beasts is about to reach Fred City."

Upon hearing this, Gu Sewei nodded and said, "Mm, I understand."

She looked at Monice and said, "You’ve worked hard these past six months. If not for your early warnings every time, I’m afraid Fred City would have long been overrun by Demonized Creatures."

Monice said, "I am only doing my duty."

Gu Sewei gazed at Monice for a moment, then said, "Can you take off your helmet and let me see you?"

"We haven’t seen each other’s faces in half a year."

Monice took a step back and said, "I must go rally the guards now."

With that, she turned and left.

Gu Sewei watched Monice’s departing figure, a hint of worry on her face.

She didn’t know how much longer Monice could hold on.

Monice’s Demonization was worsening with every passing moment.

After half a year, Gu Sewei didn’t know what Monice’s body had become.

Monice was unwilling to show her, and Gu Sewei didn’t deliberately try to probe.

Gu Sewei had only brought it up in the hope of understanding Monice’s current condition.

She sighed, picked up her Frost Staff, and walked outside.
