Niezha held the Communication Crystal, looking at the three unconscious, missing Elves.

He stared at the arsonist, wishing he could tear him limb from limb.

In disbelief, he angrily demanded, "Why would you help humans harm our people?"

Hearing this, the arsonist knew he had been exposed and there was no turning back.

He gave a bitter laugh. "Heh, did you ever really consider me one of your own?"

"In your eyes, a Half-Elf like me is just a mongrel, worse than humans and Beastmen."

He shot a hateful glance at the three unconscious Elves.

"When they were bullying me, why didn't any of you run out to help? Why didn't you call me one of your own then?"

...

Not far away, a bird stood on a branch, quietly watching the crowd below.

The arsonist's furious roars reached Li Wei's ears.

He, too, was a little surprised. He hadn't expected such a story behind it all.

'A Half-Elf?'

Li Wei looked toward the arsonist.

He noticed the man did indeed look more human.

While his ears were pointed like an Elf's, his features were more human. He lacked the innate, ethereal beauty of the Elf Race.

In other words, his skin looked much coarser.

The Half-Elf's skin had a yellowish tint, unlike the fair and beautiful complexions of the Elves.

Li Wei sighed. "To think the Elf Race has its own internal racism..."

The arsonist had been found, and a traitor within the Elf Race who colluded with humans had been exposed.

The blame on Li Wei had also been cleared.

This outcome was worth celebrating.

However, Commander Niezha felt little joy.

On one hand, it was because the Half-Elf had been audacious enough to help humans hunt Elves.

That was absolutely unforgivable.

It seemed this wasn't his first time.

Who knew how many of the previously missing Elves had fallen victim to his malevolent deeds.

On the other hand, Li Wei had been cleared of suspicion.

And the truth was just as he had said: the arsonist wasn't a human at all, but someone from within the Elf Race.

For Niezha, this was undoubtedly a slap in the face.

Not long ago, he had sworn he would find proof of Li Wei's crimes.

Now, the mere thought of seeing Li Wei again made him want to find a hole to crawl into and hide.

Niezha had his subordinates take the arsonist away and lock him up. The three unconscious Elves were escorted to a safe area.

"Tighten the security and patrols."

After giving the order, Niezha turned and left.

He glanced back at the treehouse, and a question suddenly occurred to him.

Niezha grabbed a passing Elf Guard and asked, "Who was it that discovered the arsonist's tracks?"

The guard replied, "I'm not sure. It seems someone spotted a suspicious figure, followed them all the way here, and discovered this treehouse."

"Someone recognized the unconscious Elves as the ones who had gone missing, and that's how they realized the Half-Elf was the arsonist."

Niezha frowned. "A suspicious figure? Where is that person now?"

The guard shook his head. "We only found the arsonist inside the treehouse trying to escape. We didn't see anyone else."

'That's strange...'

Niezha focused, pondering the suspicious aspects of the situation.

The most suspicious part was undoubtedly the "suspicious figure" the guard mentioned.

But in the end, the guards had no idea where this suspicious person had gone.

According to the guard's account, the suspicious person definitely couldn't have been the arsonist.

When the guards arrived at the treehouse, the arsonist was just about to flee.

It seemed the suspicious person had intentionally led the Elf Guards to the treehouse.

'Then who could it be?'

Niezha couldn't figure it out. Why would this person do such a thing?

'If he knew the arsonist was here, why not just tell the guards directly?'

'Why go through all these indirect motions?'

'Unless... unless their identity made it inappropriate for them to do this.'

A person's image surfaced in Niezha's mind.

Instantly, his expression became dark and unsettled.

Niezha gritted his teeth. "Damn you! You knew all along, yet you chose to humiliate me..."

Niezha assumed Li Wei had deliberately played him for a fool.

He thought Li Wei knew the arsonist's identity but had withheld the information, allowing Niezha to humiliate himself.

If Li Wei knew what he was thinking, he would surely feel wronged.

He had no such intention at all.

The reason he hadn't told Niezha was simple: at the time, he had no idea of the arsonist's true identity.

Or rather, before he saw the unconscious Elves and before he saw the arsonist using the Communication Crystal to contact the humans...

...Li Wei himself wasn't certain that the person leaving the scene of the fire was the arsonist.

Li Wei had no idea that his well-intentioned act had caused such a misunderstanding with Niezha.

He lay in a vine hammock, rocking it gently.

He closed his eyes.

"Now, I should be able to get a good night's sleep."

Although Niezha was fuming at Li Wei, he didn't confront him directly.

Li Wei enjoyed a rare, leisurely evening.

The next day, after eating the breakfast the Elves had prepared for him, Li Wei went to pay his respects to Delvin, the lord of Green Tree Territory.

"Lord Delvin, has the Elf King sent a reply? When can I depart for the Elf Imperial Court?"

Li Wei didn't beat around the bush and asked directly as soon as they met.

Delvin said, "Please wait a little longer. The Elf King has not yet responded to my message."

"There's no need to be anxious, Mage Li Wei. Why not take a stroll around Green Tree Territory first? Take in the scenery of an Elven domain. After all, it's a rare opportunity for a human to visit."

Seeing this, Li Wei felt he had no choice.

He nodded and said, "Very well, then. I apologize for the trouble, my lord."

"Heh, it's no trouble at all."

Leaving the Lord's Hall, Li Wei walked aimlessly through the Elven territory.
