"He recalled the words ’Froki Willgardson’ and ’Nautical Chart,’ which helped him escape the influence of the anti-meme."
"Is it possible?"
The Plague Doctor found it incredible, the power of the anti-meme was so strange and terrifying, he didn’t think anyone could break free under its deep influence.
"It’s possible, perhaps these two terms are so important to him that they’ve been etched into his soul."
Lorenzo paused for a moment, speaking seriously.
This was possible because Lorenzo once felt like this guy. Unlike the Plague Doctor, Lorenzo could understand it all.
"Then it seems that we haven’t solved anything, aside from gaining a burden, it seems we’ve gained nothing."
"Not necessarily, let’s see how much he can recover, maybe a miracle will happen."
As Lorenzo spoke, he took out more Florun Potion from the box placed by the Black Angel. A few empty bottles were scattered on the ground, and during this time of rest, Lorenzo had injected several doses into the guy, hoping it would help him remember more.
"Then what should we call him?" The Plague Doctor asked again, every time he wanted to address this suddenly appeared guy, he didn’t know what to call him.
"How about calling him Froki Willgardson? He seems to like that name a lot."
Lorenzo said.
The Plague Doctor nodded, indicating agreement.
Lorenzo, the Plague Doctor, Froki, and Watson, the four-member squad gathered again. Despite some fluctuations, they could barely be considered undamaged.
Looking up, Lorenzo and the Plague Doctor gazed at the night sky, watching the stars and auroras, while Froki, after several more doses of Florun Potion, stared at the campfire in a daze.
"It’s beautiful, what do you think these stars really are, Holmes?"
The Plague Doctor suddenly asked.
"Sometimes I wonder, everything in the present world has been studied and considered, yet these things across the sky still remain unknown. Why are they so bright, and why do they hang so high in the sky?"
Lorenzo looked at them, and for a moment, he felt as if he had entered his own Gap, a place where he had seen such clear stars only in his own Gap.
"They are suns, one giant sun after another, but they are too far away from us, hence they appear small."
"How do you know this?" The Plague Doctor asked in amazement.
Lorenzo felt somewhat bewildered, and he replied.
"I don’t know, it’s the knowledge from the Divine Favor Baptism, or perhaps from the memories of that unknown entity."
"Is that so? If that’s true, does that mean humans before the cycle even managed to set foot among the stars?"
This was shocking news, but the Plague Doctor seemed calm, perhaps he found the idea of "setting foot among the stars" hard to comprehend, like telling a child from the slums about the grandeur of the Platinum Palace.
He knew it was magnificent, but that was all. Even Lorenzo himself found it challenging to grasp it all.
These dreams were like a mysterious black box, Lorenzo merely witnessed it all, as for what they really were, he was unclear.
"It sounds truly magnificent."
The Plague Doctor sighed softly, looking at the stars, growing increasingly eager to witness the Truth firsthand.
Reflecting on Watson’s narrative, Lorenzo learned about the secrets of the Divine Favor Baptism; he had entered a Gap back then, and within that Gap mixed countless, past memories.
What Lorenzo knew were memories before the cycle.
God’s memories.
"These memories originated from the strange entity beneath the Well of Ascension, another demon known as Leviathan."
Lorenzo whispered.
Throughout this long journey, Watson had shared her actions at Saint Nalos Cathedral within the Gap with Lorenzo and informed him of intelligence regarding the Divine Favor Baptism and the Well of Ascension.
The dreams of the Demon Hunters all originated from the flesh beneath the Well of Ascension, from God’s Gap.
After narrating these, Watson also asked her about Leviathan, the demon beneath the Well of Ascension: what exactly was it, why did it possess such abundant and complex memories or Gaps.
Lorenzo had invaded the Sea Serpent’s Gap; the former Demon Hunters had constructed that prosperous Static Holy Temple with memories, but why did things become so bizarre here?
Watson didn’t say much, refusing to answer, and Lorenzo understood that Watson was still concealing something, she just felt it wasn’t time to disclose it.
"Nemesis."
Lorenzo murmured inwardly.
In that illusory Static Holy Temple, Adren Levien had referred to the thing beneath the well as such.
Thoughts became somewhat chaotic, Lorenzo gazed up at the stars, the starlight becoming increasingly bright, as if the sky was veiled by a curtain, blocking the light that should have fallen; someone pierced one hole after another in the curtain, allowing the light to fall through, transforming into magnificent stars.
Lorenzo thought of something and involuntarily murmured.
"A splendid starry sky, countless stars, bearing colorful hues, like a master’s painting."
His pupils slightly contracted, and Lorenzo gripped the Florun Potion beside him tightly, injecting himself to make the memories clearer, in order to see those things that were about to be forgotten.
