Elion looked around at their expressions and sighed.
"I did not come here to compare ages, titles, or see who can glare the hardest," he said. "Celeste is undergoing an important bloodline trial, and considering the auspicious signs connected to her that I have been seeing as of late, it’s only natural that I be concerned about her well-being above everything else."
His gaze sharpened. "So forgive me if I care more about seeing her than properly admiring the grandeur of everyone standing in this room."
His tone had remained calm, but there was a seriousness beneath it that caught several elders off guard.
Morgana’s expression changed as a hint of softness made its way onto her features. Oberon still looked displeased, but even he could no longer dismiss Elion’s words as simple arrogance.
Dorian finally stepped forward; he also understood that he had to intervene before things got out of hand.
There was always time for a bit of fun, but it would be unwise to let things get out of hand, and if it came to that, the ones to suffer would be the elders, in turn, him.
"That is enough," he said. "The boy did not travel across the kingdom to insult you."
Oberon gave him a flat look. "He is doing a remarkable job of it regardless."
Dorian shrugged. "Unfortunately, that is simply his personality."
Elion glanced at him. "That sounded insulting."
"It was." He quickly cleared his throat when Zenith’s gaze snapped to him a bit too quickly. "What I mean is that Elion has been worried about Celeste since I found him."
Dorian looked toward the elders.
"The mark on his neck reacted violently to her awakening. It weakened him and burned hot enough to affect even his current physique. Whatever bond exists between them is clearly significant enough to be connected to her awakening."
Morgana’s gaze immediately moved toward Elion’s neck. "Show us."
Elion frowned. "I would rather not be ordered around."
Zenith’s smile widened slightly.
Morgana exhaled slowly; it seemed they had gotten a troublesome one on their hands. "Please." She asked nicely.
Elion gave her a light nod. "That is better." Oberon’s brow twitched so violently that Dorian wondered whether a vein might burst.
However, their gazes were soon drawn to Elion as he slightly pulled the collar of his clothing aside. The two puncture marks on his neck were still visible.
The sight was simply something they had never seen before, even though it had something to do with a tradition long established within their clan as a sort of vow between couples.
None of their marks reacted so fiercely. They were just that, marks.
Elion’s mark no longer burned as fiercely as before, but a faint crimson glow pulsed beneath the two holes.
Morgana stepped closer to examine it; however, just as she did, the wall behind the two thrones suddenly collapsed in on itself, opening into a wide secret passage leading into the holy land.
Everyone’s gazes immediately snapped toward that direction, their curiosity and anticipation palpable.
And when the very first pale foot stepped out of the dark passageway, a crushing pressure collapsed onto every single vampire elder present in the room.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sound echoed out multiple times as they all fell painfully to their knees, unable to get back up on their feet no matter how much they tried.
Even Dorian was not left out.
The only thing they could do was lift their heads and look up at this oppressive figure, but even that required great effort.
Another pale foot stepped into the dim light, and at the sight of the figure that emerged, none of them would ever forget what they were seeing.
Celeste stepped into the light, dressed in the all-too-familiar beautiful black dress she usually fashioned.
Not only had she become more beautiful and visibly more mature, though not by much, but her skin had become even paler as well. How such a thing was possible, none of them could say.
Her skin used to be ghastly white, but at least it had held a bit of color to it before.
Now, it looked like such an unblemished, corpse-like shade of white that you would think she had no blood inside her body at all.
If not for the even whiter shade of her hair that outshone the whiteness of her skin by quite a margin, one would truly think she was a living corpse.
The air was literally vibrating with the pressure she was exuding, but it seemed to be focused only on her fellow vampires, and, if one thought about it, it would take no time at all to understand what was happening.
Bloodline suppression!
And she was not doing it consciously.
Judging by the way her crimson eyes glinted viscerally as she looked at them, the effects of her bloodline ascension were still lingering.
The silence that followed the explosive boom of knees hitting the floor was deafening.
And as Celeste took another step forward, Elion found himself stepping toward her as well, completely mesmerized by her appearance and presence.
No words needed to be said between them.
However, Elion was soon shocked to find that he was a step slower to react, and that single step might as well have been an eternity.
Before he could even understand what was happening, Celeste was already before him, her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms around his shoulders.
How she had made it to his side so quickly, he could not say.
"Celes—"
Before he could even enjoy the freezing cold of her embrace, she opened her small mouth as wide as her jaws would allow; her fangs popped out, sharp and menacing, and with a hungry hiss, she bit into his neck, right at the same spot she had marked him before.
Under the shocked gazes of all those present, multiple loud gulping sounds echoed through the throne room as Celeste drank greedily from her human fountain.
And as she drank, the pressure in the room slowly began to ease, as though the bloodline suppression had been nothing more than the result of her terrible thirst for Elion’s blood.
Which, in truth, it had.
Meanwhile, at the back, Lucius and Lilith walked out of the dark passageway with wry smiles on their faces.
As soon as Celeste came to, she had not said a single word to either of her parents, sparing them nothing more than a glance before stepping slowly out of the holy land toward the exit.
They had been confused at first, but now they understood why. She must have sensed that Elion was close by, and she probably had not fully regained her senses until now.
The truly shocking part was how long Celeste continued drinking. At first, everyone assumed she would take only a little; Perhaps a few mouthfuls, enough to calm the hunger that had clearly overwhelmed her senses, but she did not stop.
The seconds became minutes, and the sound of her gulps continued to echo through the silent throne room.
One minute, then two, then five. By that point, it almost looked as though she intended to suck Elion dry.
The crushing pressure in the throne room had eased enough for the elders to rise back to their feet, though most of them remained stiff and unsteady.
Yet instead of regaining their composure, they could only stare at their young princess as she continued greedily drawing blood from Elion’s neck.
The scene was utterly absurd.
Their newly ascended Progenitor Vampire, an existence whose bloodline had just brought the entire clan to its knees, was clinging to a young human man like a starving beast at a feast, and the human was letting her.
Elion had begun to look very pale.
His lips twitched every so often, and his eyelids had grown heavier, but he simply held Celeste securely, one arm around her waist and the other supporting her beneath her small ass.
He showed no intention of pulling her away, not even when his posture began to sag slightly, and not even when the color continued draining from his face.
However, Zenith’s pleasant expression gradually faded.
She had remained calm at first because Elion had not appeared to be in any immediate danger.
His physique was far beyond that of an ordinary human, and his regenerative abilities were impressive, but there had to be a limit.
Zenith narrowed her eyes. "How much longer is she going to drink?" No one answered her. They wanted to know the same thing as well.
Lucius and Lilith exchanged uneasy looks. Dorian folded his arms, though his expression was no longer as amused as before.
Morgana watched Celeste carefully, likely trying to determine whether interfering would provoke some instinctive reaction from her newly awakened bloodline.
Oberon looked as though he wanted to step forward, but even he seemed reluctant to approach the Progenitor while she was feeding.
By the time ten minutes had passed, Elion looked visibly lethargic. His breathing had slowed, and his shoulders drooped slightly.
His skin had taken on a sickly pallor that stood in sharp contrast to Celeste’s snow-white complexion, but his grip on her never loosened.
