All it took was a simple wave of pressure coming from Celeste for every whisper to be silenced and every curious glance to look elsewhere.

Elion glanced at her from the corner of his eye. "You do not need to frighten them."

"They were being disrespectful."

"Forgive your fellow clansman; they were just curious."

"They can be curious silently."

Mira covered a faint smile. Aria leaned closer to Tessa. "She really is possessive."

"You are one to speak," Tessa muttered.

"I am appropriately possessive."

"There is no such thing."

Isla quietly followed behind them, looking around with wide eyes. She had seen grand castles before, but the architecture of the Vampire Clan was unlike anything from the walls of Haven.

The pillars were carved with scenes of winged creatures, ancient battles, and pale figures standing beneath crimson moons.

After several minutes, they arrived before two enormous doors engraved with the image of a bat spreading its wings.

The guards stationed outside bowed. "Princess."

Celeste gave them a small nod as they opened the doors, which creaked open heavily.

The western dining hall was large enough to accommodate several dozen people, though only a small group occupied the long table at its center.

Lucius sat at the head, with Lilith beside him. Dorian occupied the chair nearest them, while Morgana and Oberon sat farther down the table.

Zenith was seated on the opposite side. Or rather, she had been seated.

The instant Elion entered the room, she vanished from her chair and appeared directly before him.

"Hubby!" Elion barely had time to brace himself before Zenith wrapped her arms around him.

This time, he managed to keep his face away from her chest, even though he was tempted to smother himself in her mounds.

That would be inappropriate, given the setting.

"I am feeling better," he said before she could ask.

Zenith pulled back and examined him carefully. "You look much healthier."

"I used a recovery potion."

Her eyes narrowed. "You had one this entire time?"

"It was expensive."

"You cannot spend money while dead."

Elion stared at her. "That is disturbingly reasonable." Zenith smiled proudly and leaned forward to kiss his cheek.

Behind them, several members of Celeste’s family watched the interaction with complicated expressions.

Lucius had already seen Zenith call Elion her husband, but witnessing the casual intimacy between them made the situation feel even stranger.

It was even stranger given how overbearing the powerful woman had been in the past few hours.

Zenith had ’volunteered’ herself to speak in Elion’s stead while he was out, with regard to different matters concerning his role in the clan as Celeste’s mate, the issue with the dragons, and so on.

However, after speaking with Zenith, Lucius understood that it was better to wait for Elion to wake; Zenith was not listening to anything that might disadvantage Elion in any way.

In fact, she had threatened to purge them all if they so much as had any thoughts of taking advantage of him.

Her exact words were, ’if you fear the dragons so much, maybe I should give you a reason to fear me more...’

Some of the elders had been insulted, but dared not say anything disrespectful, instead looking toward him as if expecting him to do something, especially now that he had become a Saint.

However, he chose to stay his hand. Even though he was a Saint, this Zenith was no doubt still much stronger than he was, so they simply listened to her demands while waiting, hoping that Elion would wake soon.

And that he had.

’There is no need to listen to this crazy woman’s demands anymore.’

Having spoken to her for so long, there was no doubt in his mind that this woman had more than a few screws loose.

Sure, she was powerful, but her thoughts were linear, focused entirely on this boy who was perhaps nothing more than a fraction of her own age.

He could not comprehend how such a relationship between them came to be. And her linear thoughts were perhaps what made her so dangerous.

Lucius shook the thoughts away, his gaze moving toward the four women who had entered with Celeste.

His expression slowly became more complicated.

Dorian had already explained that more than just three of them had come here, and that the others were in some sort of mysterious vessel.

He was a little skeptical at first, but not so much; seeing so many people appear before them, seemingly out of nowhere, there was no denying it.

It was a wonder how a vessel could hide people from them in plain sight for a whole week.

Lilith, on the other hand, appeared far more interested than disturbed.

Her crimson eyes moved across each woman with the sharp curiosity of a mother trying to understand the people surrounding her daughter.

Dorian folded his arms. "These are the others." He confirmed to his kin.

After sparing the ladies a brief glance, Lucius focused his attention on Elion.

A single attempt at peering into the boy’s being was all it took for him to once again recognize the absurdity of the talent Elion possessed.

It showed in his posture, his gait, his every step, and even his attitude.

Now that Dorian had given him a few answers, Lucius could understand why Elion carried himself as though he feared nothing and no one.

Zenith aside, who could claim to have ever met a High Mage who was still in his teens?

Lucius had once been called one of the greatest talents the world had ever seen, standing alongside people such as Alexander, yet even he could not claim to have advanced his mana-core cultivation at such a terrifying speed.

Then there was Elion’s posture.

Lucius could already see it clearly: It was the posture of a swordsman.

His sword hand remained steady, always resting as though it were ready to draw at a moment’s notice, while his body appeared light and nimble despite the strength hidden beneath it.

Elion was also much taller than the informants had led them to believe.

Beneath the loose clothing he wore, his body appeared well built. He was somewhat lean for a swordsman, but the muscles beneath his clothes rippled with restrained power.

Even his facial features were almost on par with Lucius’s own.

Not to be narcissistic, but Lucius had always been praised for his devilishly handsome appearance.

The sight almost made him scoff.

In the end, his cold and stoic daughter had fallen for a pretty boy.

And one who clearly was not afraid to make use of his looks, judging by the group of women he had brought with him.

But the audacity to appear before them with so many of his women in tow, looking totally unbothered and strutting into the hall like that...

’How arrogant.’

Whether Elion had done it intentionally or not, not every father-in-law would take kindly to such a thing.

One might even think the boy was looking down on their clan, wantonly displaying all his women before them as though daring anyone to object.

Or perhaps he simply believed he was being honest by refusing to hide them.

Regardless, Lucius had already made up his mind.

’I will make him suffer for being so daring. Somehow, someway.’

Just as Lucius was studying Elion, Elion began studying him the moment he felt the vampire’s gaze settle upon him.

He could easily see several of the features the handsome vampire shared with Celeste, especially around the eyes and the sharp contours of his face.

And, perhaps for the first time in his life, Elion had to admit that he might have finally met his match.

Someone whose facial features were possibly even more attractive than his own.

As the two continued staring at each other, an increasingly strange atmosphere formed between them.

Neither man spoke, and neither looked away.

What followed was the odd sight of a silent staredown between two absurdly handsome men, each seemingly trying to determine something about the other without uttering a single word.

It only ended when Lilith finally reached out and tugged lightly at Lucius’s sleeve.

Lucius blinked and turned toward his wife, clearing his throat while pretending as though he had done nothing of note.

Elion also looked away, though the faint narrowing of his eyes suggested that he was not entirely satisfied with how inconclusive their ’contest’ had been.
