Elion stared at Valerian for several seconds before allowing a pleasant smile to spread across his face.

"All right."

Celeste's gaze immediately snapped toward him. "Elion."

"Do not worry, my dear. I will be careful."

"I was not worried about you." Her crimson eyes moved toward Valerian, giving him an almost pitying look.

The young noble suddenly felt his blood run cold.

Elion gave Celeste's hand a light squeeze. "I will be quick."

She gave him a stern look. "No killing anyone, remember?"

"That rule was for Zenith."

"It applies to everyone."

Valerian swallowed before forcing himself to regain his composure. "Then you accept?"

"I accept a demonstration."

"A demonstration?"

Elion stepped forward.

"I have no interest in spending the entire night fighting every offended and foolish young noble standing outside these gates."

Several expressions immediately darkened. "So all of you can attack together." The courtyard became eerily silent.

Dorian slowly lowered the hand covering his face and released an exasperated sigh. The ladies reacted similarly, shaking their heads in defeat.

Valerian's expression twisted. "You dare mock us?"

"I am trying to save time."

"How arrogant!"

"Probably."

Elion rolled one shoulder and looked across the gathered young nobles.

"Anyone who believes I am unworthy can step forward. It does not matter how many of you there are. You can all attack at once, for all I care."

No one moved at first, perhaps unable to believe what they had just heard. Then one vampire joined Valerian.

Another followed, then another.

Within moments, more than a dozen young nobles had stepped into the open space before the gates.

Elion counted them casually. "Is that everyone?"

Valerian's hand tightened around his rapier. "It will be enough."

Elion smiled. "We will see."

He stepped farther into the open courtyard, leaving enough distance between himself and the castle gates for the gathered nobles to surround him without threatening the spectators.

The young vampires moved forward almost immediately.

There were fifteen of them now, each carrying themselves with the pride of someone who had been praised as a talent since birth.

Most were young mages, though several carried swords and bows at their waists, while two wielded long spears forged from shining silver metal.

They were all around the Adept Stage, with several having already reached its peak.

Valerian and another lanky young man carrying a smooth polearm were surprisingly both Advanced Mages.

There was no doubt that they were the pride of their respective families, though they were probably at least a few years older than Elion.

Not that he could accurately determine such a thing when it came to vampires. But this kind of lineup was still nothing but child's play for him, fifty percent strength or not.

Valerian remained at the front, leading the group.

He slowly drew his thin black rapier, allowing the blade to scrape lightly against its equally slender sheath.

"You will regret looking down on us," he hissed menacingly.

Elion looked toward the gathered nobles. "I am not looking down on you." That only caused their expressions to darken further.

"You told us to attack you together, and you called us fools!" the man carrying the polearm exclaimed as he swung his weapon several times.

"Yes, I did."

"And you believe that is not looking down on us?"

Elion tilted his head. "I simply do not want to spend the entire night doing this one person at a time."

He paused briefly. "And yes, I think you are all fools."

"Haaaaaa!"

Valerian did not waste another moment.

He roared as his aura surged, crimson mana spreading around his body and causing the ground beneath his feet to crack faintly.

The other nobles immediately followed his lead. Several spells formed simultaneously in the air.

Flames gathered, followed by blades of compressed wind that appeared above raised palms, and dark spikes that emerged from the ground, while blood-red chains began circling around another vampire's arms.

The crowd retreated slightly as the combined pressure of the young nobles filled the courtyard.

Despite their arrogance, none of them were weak. Among ordinary humans, several would already have been regarded as exceptional talents.

Elion calmly watched their spells take shape, while raising one hand to prepare his own spell.

He didn't even need Kurogoroshi for this. A single blue magical circle formed before his palm, quickly forming a rotating, glowing blob of water.

It was small, plain, and so simple that several of the nobles stared at it in disbelief, unable to accept what they were seeing.

"A Water Bullet?" someone muttered in shock.

Valerian's expression twisted.

Elion was using the most basic of water spells against them. A spell taught to children during their first few months of magical training.

Was he truly so weak that this was the best spell he could form? How did he intend to defend himself against all of their attacks with something so pathetic?

Was this really the best he could do?

For a moment, several of the nobles felt as though they might be overdoing things. Would it not be disastrous if they accidentally killed him beneath their combined barrage?

What would the princess do to them if her future husband died because of their challenge?

Regardless, the faint smile on Elion's face, despite his apparently hopeless and deadly situation, urged them forward.

Perhaps he truly had a plan, or perhaps he was simply delusional. For his and their sake, they all hoped that it was the former.

"Correct," Elion said calmly. "This is a simple Water Bullet spell, and it's all I need."

"This Bastard!"

"That's it!"

"Attack!" Valerian shouted.

The courtyard erupted in a brilliant flash of color as dozens of spells tore through the air at once.

Flames rolled across the ground.

Wind blades descended from above.

Crimson chains shot toward Elion's limbs, while several dark spikes burst from beneath his feet.

Elion released the Water Bullet.

Boom!

The spell struck the air with an explosive crack.

What emerged from the magical circle was no ordinary sphere of water.

The violently compressed projectile tore through the incoming flames, shattering the entire spell apart before continuing forward with enough force to split the stone courtyard in a straight line.

Valerian barely had time to raise his sword. The Water Bullet struck the flat of his blade violently, making his arms fold painfully against his chest.

The sword flew from his hands.

His body left the ground and crashed into three nobles standing behind him, sending all four of them tumbling across the courtyard.

The remaining spells reached Elion, and for a moment, the rest of them were fooled into believing that they had managed to overwhelm him

"Tch! Overconfident bastard! He won't be able to defend all of that."

Elion raised his other hand, crouching and slamming it into the ground before him. "Earth Wall."

A thick wall of stone erupted from the ground.

It was another basic spell. Yet the wall rose several meters high and stretched across nearly the entire courtyard.

All the spells, the wind blades, the dark spikes, and the crimson chains struck the stone, the chains attempting to wrap around the stone, only for Elion to close his fist, manipulating the wall, and making it collapse forward.

Several vampires stared upward as the enormous slab of stone descended toward them.

Their expressions soured, and they were forced to abandon their attacks and throw themselves aside.

Bang!

The wall slammed into the courtyard with a deafening crash. Dust exploded outward, and the entire ground trembled violently.

However, before the dust could clear, Elion stepped through it.
