Aria allowed the spell to dissolve, the vibrant smile on her face clearly showing that she was pleased with the result.
She then focused upon Crimson Step, and a scarlet light gathered around her body.
Before Elion could warn her to be careful, she vanished from the space in front of him and reappeared on the opposite side of the lounge.
Activating it again, she returned to the center of the lounge, stumbling slightly upon arrival, but Mira caught her arm before she could fall.
"You could have tested it while standing still," Mira said.
"I was standing still."
"You know what I meant." Aria straightened herself and looked back toward Elion.
A trail of crimson particles remained between them before slowly fading away. "That was incredible."
"You will need practice before using it during combat," Elion said. "Appearing in the wrong position could be worse than not moving at all."
"I know, I know." Her tone suggested she had only half listened. Elion sighed, thinking that she was a bit too excited, but he couldn’t fault her for that.
Aria touched the bracelet again and focused upon the final ability. A small crimson crescent appeared in the air before her.
[Select an individual to receive the mark of the Shared Moon.]
Her gaze immediately moved toward Elion.
He noticed the hungry look in her eyes and raised one hand.
"Think carefully. It says one chosen individual; you may not be able to change it easily." He was speaking for the sake of it at this point.
All of them here would be quite shocked if she even considered anyone else.
"Do you even have to ask who my chosen is? I decided the moment I read the description." Before he could object, Aria reached forward and placed her hand against his chest.
The crimson crescent sank into his body.
A faint mark resembling a tiny moon flashed above his heart before disappearing beneath his clothing.
[Mark established.]
Aria closed her eyes and focused. Almost immediately, she could sense him.
It was not precise enough to tell her his every movement or thought, but she could feel the direction in which he stood and the calm, powerful rhythm of his life force.
Her smile widened. "I can feel you."
"That sounded slightly ominous," Elion said.
"You mean romantic." Zenith corrected.
Aria returned to Elion’s side and wrapped both arms possessively around one of his. "Now you cannot disappear without me knowing."
"Well, I can still leave the effective range." He shrugged.
"Then I will follow you before you do."
Elion looked toward Mira. "Perhaps this gift was a mistake."
"It is too late now," Aria said immediately, tugging at his arm.
Zenith stared at the bracelet and then at Mira’s necklace.
Her expression became increasingly dissatisfied. "Mira received wings, and Aria can follow Hubby wherever he goes."
"You can already fly," Elion pointed out.
"That is not the point."
"You can also find me through our connection."
"That is also not the point."
Elion sighed.
"What is the point?"
"They got gifts; I didn’t." Judging by the smirk slowly forming on her face, she probably didn’t care as much as she was suggesting.
Mira covered a quiet laugh with one hand.
Elion leaned back into the couch and looked at Zenith. "I told you that I would find something suitable to give you."
"And when will that be?"
"When I discover an artifact powerful enough to be useful to a Saint."
"It doesn’t have to be something useful though."
"Think of it this way: I am simply taking my time to find the perfect gift to give you. It has to be something meaningful, that you can appreciate, and that can also serve a meaningful purpose."
Zenith considered that answer before nodding. "That is reasonable."
Aria adjusted the bracelet on her wrist, clearly pleased every time the crystals shifted and caught the light.
"What about Tessa?"
"Well, I have a gift in mind for her as well," Elion replied. "But I will give it to her later."
Mira scoffed. "You mean you will give it to her after pounding her."
Elion let out a wheezing cough. "Who gave you that idea?"
"Well, am I wrong?"
Elion nodded. "You might be."
"Prove me wrong, then."
He gave her a flat look. "In due time..."
"See!"
Zenith and Aria burst into a fit of laughter.
Elion eventually joined in, and the four continued talking for a little while longer before he finally decided to go and find Tessa.
On the way, he remembered that he still needed to merge the World Eyes.
’Now is actually the perfect opportunity. I will do it once I see what Tess is up to.’ He found her exactly where he had expected, and damn, did she look absolutely sexy.
After arriving in the training room, she had changed into her usual training gear, and it was as revealing as ever. She wore no bra beneath her tight top, while her shorts were wedged deeply between the cleft of her ass.
The lovely tan of her exposed skin briefly reminded him of Zenovia, but the thought was quickly overshadowed by the sight of Tessa absolutely pulverizing the training doll she was sparring against.
Elion released a sharp whistle as her fists rained down upon the poor doll in rapid succession. Each strike landed with a heavy thud until the construct’s health was completely depleted and its body dissolved into particles.
If he did not know any better, he would have thought the doll had somehow offended her.
Or perhaps she was angry about something else, or someone...
She was wearing her heavy metal gauntlets, and once she had finished beating the poor doll out of existence, she slipped them from her hands and allowed them to fall heavily to the floor with a resounding boom.
Tessa breathed heavily, sweat glistening across her entire body as she rolled her shoulders and twisted her neck from side to side.
Her hands were wrapped in thick bandages, likely to make the interior of the metal gauntlets a little more comfortable.
She finally glanced toward the entrance, realizing that she was no longer alone.
However, the moment she saw who it was, an annoyed expression settled across her face. "Oh. It’s just you."
"Just me? I would have thought you would be happy to see my handsome face." Elion walked toward her with a light smile on his face.
Tessa scoffed.
"You think far too highly of yourself. Has no one ever told you that the world does not revolve around you?"
Elion smiled, ignoring the sharp jab.
"Maybe not everyone’s world, but I assumed my women’s worlds did."
She gave him a condescending look.
"You are already counting me among your women, even though you left me hanging for days after using my mouth to satisfy yourself."
A faint blush spread across her face as she said the last part.
Elion raised a brow, but she continued before he could respond.
"And before you say that you were unconscious for a week, you had plenty of time both before and after to see things through."
Her expression hardened. "I am starting to think that perhaps you simply do not want to."
Elion’s smile began to fade.
"Or is it because you have so many women that you think you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, and expect us to remain waiting until you finally decide the time is convenient for you?"
By that point, Elion’s expression had frozen stiff, and the light smile upon his face had twisted into a crooked twitch.
