Harem System: Spending Money On Women For 100% Rebate!
Chapter 387 - 387: DinnerKyle pushed the door to the Royal Suite open with his shoulder, both hands occupied by two large brown paper bags. The smell of fast food—burgers, fries, grease—filled the air around him.
He stopped mid-step.
The suite's dining table was covered. Not with takeout. With plates. Silver domes. Crystal glasses. A spread that looked like it had been teleported from a Michelin-starred kitchen.
Ella sat at the head of the table, a fork halfway to her mouth. Cassandra was beside her, cutting something that might have been salmon. Jasmine had a napkin tucked into her collar, cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk. Even Junior, strapped into a portable high chair, was gumming a piece of bread.
Kyle blinked.
"You ordered room service?" he asked.
Ella raised an eyebrow. "You left for an hour. We got hungry."
"Hungry?" Kyle looked at the spread. Lobster. Steak. Some kind of truffle pasta. "This looks like a coronation."
Cassandra smiled warmly. "The concierge recommended it. Said it's the chef's tasting menu."
Kyle sighed. A long, theatrical exhale. He lifted the paper bags. "I brought burgers."
That was when Jane looked up.
Her eyes went wide. Not at the fancy food still steaming on the table. At the bags.
"You got burgers?" Her voice was soft, almost shy, but there was something underneath. Urgency.
"Yeah, I thought—"
Jane was already out of her chair. For someone so timid, she moved fast. She crossed the room in three steps and gently—very gently—took the bags from Kyle's hands.
"I love burgers," she said quietly, peeking inside.
Kyle watched her carry the bags back to the table, unpacking each item with careful reverence. Fries. Cheeseburgers. Chicken sandwiches. She laid them out like they were precious artifacts.
Ella leaned back in her chair, watching the scene with amusement. "She hasn't even finished the pasta."
Jane ignored her. She picked up a burger, unwrapped it, and took a bite. A real bite. Half the thing disappeared.
Kyle's eyebrows rose.
Jane chewed. Swallowed. Reached for fries.
"Jane," Cassandra said gently, "you just ate an entire lobster tail."
"I know." Jane's voice was small, almost apologetic. But she kept eating.
Kyle pulled up a chair and sat down, watching her. Her belly was visibly swollen now—pushing against the waistband of her jeans. She had to be full. Painfully full.
"How does she do that?" Kyle thought to himself.
Another bite. Another handful of fries. Jane's cheeks were stuffed, her eyes half-closed in what looked like pure bliss.
Kyle found himself smiling.
"She's so cute."
He didn't know how else to describe it. There was something endearing about a woman who could eat like this and not gain a pound. Who didn't pretend to be dainty. Who just… enjoyed.
His eyes drifted up.
Ella was already looking at him.
She didn't say anything. Just tilted her head slightly, a knowing smirk playing on her lips. Then she shrugged.
Kyle almost laughed.
Jasmine, emboldened by Jane's enthusiasm, reached for a fry. Then another. Then she grabbed a whole sandwich and started working her way through it with the determination of someone who hadn't always known where her next meal was coming from.
Kyle's chest tightened. Just a little.
"She's safe now. They all are."
He looked around the table. Cassandra cutting up a piece of steak for Junior. Ella stealing a fry from Jane's pile. Jane too focused on her burger to notice. Jasmine eating like it was her last meal.
It was chaos. Messy, loud, chaotic.
And Kyle didn't mind any of it.
He was about to reach for a fry himself when he noticed something. A plate at the far end of the table. Covered. Untouched.
"What's that?" he asked.
Ella followed his gaze. "Oh. That was for...-!" Kyle didn't let her finish.
Kyle's eyebrows shot up. "You ordered something for me?"
Ella scoffed. A short, sharp sound. "It was for Jane."
Jane froze mid-chew. Her eyes went wide. She tried to say something—probably.
"No, it wasn't"—but her mouth was too full. The sound that came out was something between a squeak and a choke.
Ella burst out laughing. A real laugh, loud and unguarded.
Jane kept trying to defend herself, cheeks bulging, words completely unintelligible. Her face was turning red—whether from embarrassment or effort, Kyle couldn't tell.
"Swallow first," Cassandra said, barely containing her own smile.
Jane chewed frantically. Swallowed. Took a breath.
"That plate was always for Kyle," she said, her voice small but firm. "I didn't even know about it."
Ella waved a dismissive hand. "Sure, sure."
"It's true!"
"Jane, you've eaten three burgers and a basket of fries. You think I'm judging you? Own it."
Jane opened her mouth. Closed it. Looked at Kyle helplessly.
Kyle held up both hands. "I'm staying out of this."
"Coward," Ella said, but she was grinning.
Jasmine giggled, ketchup smeared across her cheek. Even Junior let out a happy gurgle.
Kyle reached over and pulled the covered plate toward him. Lifted the dome. Steak. Medium rare. Roasted vegetables. A small ramekin of sauce.
He looked at Jane. "You sure you don't want this?"
Jane's eyes flickered to the steak. Then back to her burger. Then back to the steak.
For a moment, Kyle thought she might actually take it.
"No," she said quietly. "I'm good."
Ella snorted. "You're going to pop."
"I'm fine."
"You're waddling."
"I do not waddle."
"Cassandra, does she waddle?"
Cassandra smirked, cutting another piece of steak for Junior. "I'm not answering that."
Kyle laughed and cut into his steak. The meat was perfect. Juicy. Tender. But honestly? He would have been fine with the burgers.
He glanced around the table again. The fancy food. The fast food. The mismatched plates. Ella's teasing, Jane's stuffed cheeks, Jasmine's sauce-covered face, Cassandra's quiet warmth, Junior's gurgling.
"This," Kyle thought. "This is what I'm protecting."
He took a bite of steak and let himself enjoy the moment.
There would be time for Angelica later. For Marcello. For Viktor and Isabeau and all the other dangers waiting in the shadows.
Right now? He was just a guy eating dinner with people who mattered.
