The shockwave was still settling, the dust hanging in the air like a funeral shroud, when Lia struck. She didn’t give Ardyn the luxury of disbelief. She didn’t allow her a second to process the impossible.

Lia moved like liquid fire. Drawing on every shred of strength left in her battered frame, she activated her Tide Stance.

Her movements became fluid, unnervingly swift, her body swaying with a deceptive grace that masked the raw power coursing through her veins. She closed the distance before Ardyn could even fully plant her feet.

"Impossible—" Ardyn gasped, her eyes widening as she saw Lia’s silhouette blurring toward her.

The commander tried to bring her cracked blade up in a desperate guard, but her arms felt like lead. The shock of the Wavecleaver Arc had rattled her bones, sending a nauseating tremor through her entire skeleton.

Lia unleashed a relentless assault. The first strike was a horizontal slash aimed at Ardyn’s ribs; Ardyn managed to deflect it, but the impact sent a jolt through her elbow that made her vision swim.

The second strike was a brutal downward thrust that forced Ardyn to stagger sideways, each contact sounding like a hammer striking flesh.

’Left, right, pivot, strike. ’Lia’s mind was a cold machine of execution. ’Don’t stop.’

’Don’t breathe. End it before she finds her footing.’

"You... little...!" Ardyn roared, a sound born of pure humiliation and fury.

She swung her damaged sword in a wild, desperate arc, hoping to catch Lia in the ribs. But Lia was gone before the steel could connect.

She ducked beneath the swing, the wind of the blade whistling over her scalp, and drove her shoulder directly into Ardyn’s solar plexus.

The impact was wet and heavy. Ardyn wheezed as the air was punched from her lungs, her body convulsing.

Lia didn’t pause. She spun on the ball of her foot, using the momentum to bring her greatsword around in a vicious uppercut.

The blade caught the already compromised edge of Ardyn’s sword. The physics of the moment were cruel.

Lia’s blade acted as a lever, the concentrated energy of her strike finding the exact stress point of Ardyn’s weapon. With a sound like a breaking bone, CRACK SNAP, the weakened steel surrendered.

Ardyn’s fingers convulsed as the weapon was wrenched violently from her grip. The greatsword flew through the air, spinning end over end before clattering across the stone arena floor with a series of hollow, metallic echoes that seemed to reverberate forever.

Ardyn stood there, frozen. Her hands were still curled in the shape of the hilt she had just lost, her fingers shaking uncontrollably.

A thin trickle of blood ran from her nose, dripping onto the sand between her unsteady feet. Her chest heaved, her eyes fixed on Lia with a mixture of horror, rage, and something that looked suspiciously like genuine fear.

Lia stood opposite her, chest rising and falling in ragged, desperate gulps. Blood dripped from her chin onto her sword arm, painting the steel crimson.

Her hair was matted with sweat and gore, her face a mask of exhaustion and triumph. She held her position, the point of her sword leveled directly at Ardyn’s throat, the tip quivering slightly from the adrenaline still coursing through her.

Silence held for one more suspended second. The entire arena was frozen in that terrifying, breathless moment between the storm and the aftermath.

And the silence didn’t break; it shattered.

For one heartbeat, the arena was a tomb.

Then, the dam burst.

"YES! SHE DID IT! SHE ACTUALLY DID IT!" The announcer’s voice tore through the air, cracking with pure, unadulterated adrenaline. "I don’t believe my eyes!"

"The impossible has happened! Lia has disarmed the commander!"

"The prodigy has claimed her throne!" His voice rose to a fever pitch, nearly drowned out by the thunderous roar of thousands of spectators who had been holding their collective breath.

"LIA! LIA! LIA!" The chant began in one section of the stands and swept through the stadium like a wildfire, a rhythmic, deafening pulse that shook the very foundations of the arena.

In the VIP section, the dam of restraint collapsed. Kaela didn’t just stand; she launched herself upward, screaming at the top of her lungs with such force that veins stood out on her neck.

"THAT’S MY GIRL! THAT’S MY FUCKING RIVAL!" she shrieked, punching the air with enough force to bruise her own knuckles, her face split by a grin so wide it looked painful. "SEE THAT? SEE WHAT SHE DID TO HER?"

Beside her, Ellie and Clara were a whirlwind of motion. They collided in a hug so violent it would have knocked most people flat, their laughter mingling with shouts of triumph.

"I told you!" Ellie cried out, tears of joy streaking through the dust on her cheeks. "I told you she wouldn’t break!"

Clara could only nod frantically, her voice lost in the cacophony. "She’s a monster! A beautiful, unstoppable monster!"

Olivia leaned back, letting out a long, sharp whistle that pierced through the noise. She shook her head slowly, a smirk of genuine, deep-seated respect playing on her lips.

"Damn, kid," she muttered to herself, though the words were swallowed by the crowd. "You really went and did it. You fucking legend."

A few seats away, Catherine was motionless, except for her hands pressed against her sternum. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs as tears of raw, unfiltered pride spilled over.

"Oh, Lia..." she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "My brave, brave girl."

William felt as though his ribcage might crack from the sheer pressure of what was happening inside him. The terror that had been strangling his heart for the last twenty minutes evaporated, replaced by an explosion of something so powerful it felt like liquid gold flooding his veins.

His fists were clenched so tight his fingernails drew blood from his palms, but he didn’t feel it. All he saw was Lia bloodied, broken, but standing.

Undefeated.

’You did it, Lia,’ he thought, his eyes burning. ’You showed them all.’

’You showed them what you’re made of.’

Even in the high days, the political machinery of the academy faltered. Lord Valestria rose with agonizing slowness.

His face remained a mask of aristocratic composure, but the subtle tremor in his jaw betrayed him. His eyes, cold and calculating moments before, were now fixed on his daughter with something new, not yet approval, but a profound, unsettling recognition.

He had underestimated her. He had underestimated the storm she carried.

The crowd was a maelstrom of noise, a sea of cheering bodies and waving banners. The announcer was screaming incoherently about ’a new era’ and ’the death of a legend,’ his voice cracking under the strain.

But amidst the chaos, amidst the screams of victory and the thunder of applause, something wrong began to surface.

Ardyn still stood in the center of the arena. She was disarmed, bleeding, and humiliated.

Her shoulders began to shake. A wet, choking sound emerged from her throat.

Then, the laughter started.

It wasn’t a laugh of joy. It wasn’t a laugh of madness.

It was a low, guttural sound that cut through the celebratory roar like a serrated blade through silk. It grew louder, more hysterical, transforming from a chuckle into a full-throated, terrifying peal of laughter that seemed to mock the very concept of Lia’s victory.

The laughter didn’t stop. It escalated, transforming from something sinister into something almost strangely triumphant.

Ardyn threw her head back, her throat working as she wheezed out great, delighted peals of mirth that seemed to defy the blood streaming down her face and the obvious agony in her ribs.

She wasn’t breaking down. She was breaking free.

"HA! HAHAHA! GODS ABOVE, THAT WAS MAGNIFICENT!" Ardyn roared, her voice cracking with a raw, hysterical joy that momentarily silenced even the most frenzied sections of the crowd.

The Commander wiped a smear of blood from her mouth with the back of her hand, leaving a crimson streak across her cheek like war paint.

Instead of retreating in shame, Ardyn began to stride toward Lia. Her gait was uneven, favoring her left side, where the shockwave had clearly rattled her ribs, but her steps were wide, confident, and utterly approving.

The crowd fell into a confused murmur. Was she attacking? Was she going to finish it?

But Ardyn didn’t raise a fist. She reached out and seized Lia’s wrist.

Lia flinched instinctively, her muscles coiled tight, her sword still trained on Ardyn’s throat.

"What are you—" Lia started, her voice hoarse and broken, but the words died in her throat.

Ardyn didn’t listen. With a strength born of pure, unadulterated respect, she wrenched Lia’s arm upward, hoisting the girl’s bloodied, shaking wrist high above their heads.

Ardyn planted her feet wide, presenting Lia to the thousands of spectators and the assembled military units like a prize won from the jaws of death.

"LISTEN TO ME!" Ardyn’s voice boomed, carrying across the arena with the authority of a general commanding a battlefield. "LOOK AT HER!"

The arena went deathly still. Even the announcer stopped mid-sentence.

"That," Ardyn declared, her eyes blazing with a terrifying intensity as she looked directly at Lia before turning to the crowd, "was the single most impressive display of raw talent, of sheer fucking will, that I have witnessed from an academy student in over a decade!"

"I have seen champions, I have seen legends, but I have never seen a storm like this!"
